The Slayers v Eastbourne result was first reported as 2-0 to Slayers so the table showed us bottom. Now they have corrected it and we are off....one small mercy.

Yes the Mana v Slayers match will be gigantic, massive, awe inspiring...clash of the titans....

WTF!!! Why did the army default? Why did Island bay default!! Been waiting all week and get this news! argh!

I really think cap football should replay missed games eh, I mean we pay $3200 for our 3rd missed game? F**K!!!!! haha

Oh hey, Christo - is you number 11 always so grumpy? I play CB, and my LWB was having a mini war with him all day! He is so temperamental, and was  just grabbing all our tops..

Would we just write to cap football to complain? im desperate!

Um i think i know who you are talking bout, we change numbers most every week, but no generally not like that at all i don't think, maybe a bit of frustration creeping in.

And what you writing to cap football about?

We had a chat and think maybe they defaulted to you guys so their goal difference wouldn't get blown out.

we had another loss 5-0 to the upper hutt city boys, another good improvement for us, they beat us 11-2 last time, and we didn't play well at all, The ground was still a bog, thouhgt it may have dried a little with a day and a bit of sun and wind. Karori next week, looking forward to that!

Yea Karori will be a good game for you lads. and  we have upeer hutt week after this. That will be a big game for us! how were they looking when you played?

Thinking of writing to cap football  about missed games etc. know that I will get a brick wall, but im just getting frustrated that we play so much, miss games and never see them again. Back when I used to play (cough) rugby, we paid so little and missed games were played at the end. And we got a ref too, but thats a whole different story!

Well our first game against Island bay was rained off so I've heard we will play that at the end of the season, don't think you'll be so lucky with the defaults, which is a shame, i hate it when i don't play for whatever the reason.

Have also heard you'll prob go up more than one division, maybe to cap 8 but don't quote me on that my sources arent that reliable.

and on upper hutt, who knows if it will be the same team as it was this week , i only recognised a few, mostly the big fullas at the back, the yooung guy on left defence is pretty rubbish, they are pretty alright off their heads, and plenty of runners off the ball in the area so watch them.

and yes a ref, how i do miss them

If we are on today its top v bottom in 14a when Mana go to Delaney Park to play the Destroyers. We are hoping for a better result than last time with some of our returning players raising the standard. Last week we lost in the last minute ...better luck today I hope. Last season one of our best efforts came against the SV Sunshine at Delaney when we lost 3-2 against an side promoted at the end of the season.

Uni Cycles 4-1 Eastbourne. Bloody windy, I think we may have adjusted to it a bit better though it wasn't decisive. Played the best game of my life as well! Critical_Lemon2008-06-07 16:08:48

Lost 6-2 against SV Destroyers but game much closer than that. Gave away breakaway goals...long ball over the top. On top for much of second half but unable to score///amazingly lost the half 2-0 to the only two shots SV had in the half!!! Hit the bar 3 times!!!

So sent to the bottom but we are better than that!

What's this I hear about the Tonners defaulting??!?!

Surely there are enough 100kg+ players in wellington to put a team out!!!?!

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Disappointing to hear of SV sl*gging off Man in the clubrooms post match. I know Mana havent won much only twice in three years but to have it rubbed in yah face in the ckubrooms is out of line.  Mana always try to give every game 100% and look to win every time they play, perhaps Sv would have prefered a forfeit then they could have a week off. I know i would rather play than have that happen.

Maybe they should have remined S/V of their prevoius seasons results and that they are playing in a socail league so not to take themselves to seroiusly.

2007 Finished above 2 teams and only won 2 games.
2006 Finished bottom half of the table
2005 Mid table
2004 2nd last.
2003 Last

I didn't play so I can't confirm but apparently last week when we played them SV played like dirty cheats (which perhaps they are).

Thats such poor news. We all love a good game that is contested but when we played SV they seemed to take it a bit too far, mind you I can't exactly say some of our teams actions were particularly sportsman-like. I only thought the game was a bit over the top was because it was top of the table, but it seems not. SV are by far the dirtiest team we've played this season, kudo's to you other Cap 14A teams who play the beautiful game in the spirit its meant to be played.

We played with no reff yesterday because only 11 players from each side turned up, was the fairest game so far though both teams took little, unsignificant liberties a couple of times. Though I'd say the liberties taken show that things could have been pretty bad.

Yeah both the Lads' players who have dislocated their shoulders recently are OK, both played some part on Saturday - The young fella is a tough nut (bred from good stock)

Weve only played S/V once this season and I thought it was a fair game. I cant recall them being "dirty". Weve always had a friendly relationship with the older guys so maybe its some of the "new" younger guys in their team that are causing the trouble. Weve got them this Saturday so we'll see how it goes this week.

Thank you for all the support. We appreciate it.

PC Mana have always tried to play the game the right way even when we have been up against it. We acknowledge the tremendous sportsmanship we have experienced from many sides over the three years since we joined the league....The Sealords and then the Sealads, the Swifts, the Cougars, the Seatoun Pirates, the Goldenrods, the Slayers and Martians...sides who have been happy to provide a ref when we had only 9 or 10 players. Good teams who didnt over celebrate scoring against us...the list is long. Of special note was Brooklyn Northern last season who had an excellent footballing side and when they played us we could only scrape up a scratch team with 10 players...they acknowledged that a game was better than a default and although they beat us easily they played proper football and never once took the piss....

Saturdays game was closer than the score suggests and we hit the bar three times and we deserve more respect from the team currently top of our table.

Good to see that North Wellington B had a close result this week. We at Mana know how tough it is when you are at the bottom of the league and suffering constant defeats. To North Wellington kia kaha...a win will come one day and you will have earned it by sticking it out.

We will watch you 14b league results hoping you do get that result.

It seems Island Bay DBs may be folding due to lack of numbers...any news on that?

Hopefully the bottom teams from a and b will have a mini league at the end of the season so we may see you then!

cheers oprewise, was indeed a close game we created some good chances again but couldn't finish, luck not running with us again, with one of their goals came from the ball getting deflected around the goal box and falling nicely for one of their guys.

bit of niggle crept in to the end of the game, one of their guys was winding me up trying to get a penalty out of me (which he didn't get) but last time we played it was a bit like that too.

In the end was a game we could've got points from but we look forward to next week against Brooklyn (it think its them anyway) who we had a close game against last time, 4-3 in the end to them but we could've come out on top in that.

And not sure whats happening with Island Bay, the goal difference is closing up to ours, so not sure if its a tactic or not, hope not, but we still have to play them twice (our first game was rained off).

I have always enjoyed the games against you guys, it is always played with good sportsmanship. It is a shame to hear about SV and their comments which provide a negative for this grade. As someone stated earlier they have nothing to boast about with previous seasons.

Good luck for the rest of the games and look forward to playing you guys later on in the season, its a pity the first meeting was canceled .

good to see some results and good footy in the weeknd, well done christo very unlucky for sounds of things, we had another week of a team defaulting to us, so now universale play upper hutt next week and havnt played footy in 3 weeks due to teams not wanting to play norhave had training due to weather, not a good look for the coming game which will be our biggest game of season...

haha interesting technique, yea pretty much same as us tho we do usually get 5 people training once a week when the fields aint closed, being hungover is a integrial part of the saturday game and 14b performances thus far...so upper hutt beating upper hutt army 3-2..what happened there considering they won 10-0 last time???

I can't believe all the swearing going on on this forum the past couple of days!!! Training has never been acceptable in Cap 14 and will not be tolerated in any shape or form, give yourselves a stiff upper cut.

As for SV Destroyers we played them recently and in general it was a good friendly game. They did have a couple of younger guys who threatened to fire up but I did notice some older fellas actually telling them to settle down so it's all good. We had issues with the SV Sunshine last year though so maybe they are interchanging players again?????

And we had a player sent off this week for punching so I can't say too much lol, although a word of advice to the Cougar involved if you're going to shove a guy in the back to start a fight then run away screaming "get away" at least run a decent distance as Steve can't chase for long ;o).

While I condemn violence in football at any level, and especially at our social level, that does sound pretty funny.  But I'd have to hear the other side of the story too, before deciding how funny it is.

You don't get that kind of assault at Martians games - we're too busy assaulting the corner flags with our shots.

I agree, it wasn't funny at the time as we tried to restrain our rampant rhinocerous but once the dust had settled I think most can see the funny side.
It was our ref that sent him off and we did award him d**k of the day which means he has to shout next weeks half time bevvy's and wash the shirts
Lets hope he doesn't bring a bottle of JD's like Dave did this week

The thing that makes it funny was the Cougar that started the fight. A totally legit tackle was resented. As a result the Cougar instigated the fight as stated, then ran away playing the victim.

Fights don't start unless someone tries to pick a fight, so if you don't want to be involved in one the simple solution is not to cause it.

Indeed what did happen with the Upper Hutt loss? good news for next week perhaps...

On another note will you peeps PLEASE man up and have a go against Universale? We've been defaulted to 2 weeks in a row now (UArmy and Island Bay) and it's starting to get tedious...We'll even let ya score a goal or 2 if you're nice!

Thing is, we pay effectivley $200.00 bucks a game to play and now we've had 2 weeks off with fine, fine weather...and the 2 - 0 we get for the default aint nothing compared to what the real scoreline would be...

Or even telll us ur going to default on Friday so we can go as hard as we would like to Fri night!

Mana versus Eastbourne on Saturday. In the first round we took a weakened team to Eastbourne and put up a very poor show resulting in a very lop sided score. This week will be different so we promise our opponents a proper game.....Welcome to Waihora!

Upper Hutt v Universale this weekend! the game you've all been waiting for, the clash of the titans!!!!

Last time went 1-0 to Universale in a highly and fiercely contested match...can they pull out a good result again? With 2 weeks of defaults and a fair amount of rain  they could be getting a bit rusty indeed, who knows...all that can be known for certain is whoever wins this match is likely to take out the spoils of 14b.

OK about the sl*gging at Stokes Valley. I was there and as the captain of Porirua Mana I feel a bit surprised at the fact that while SV were busy congratulating each other with both hands, no opportunity was given to the other captains to stand up and tell their side. The fact is that SV were extremely lucky in the second half as we had at least 20 shots on the goal compared to their two. Their keeper played an outstanding game in my opinion and the rest of the team should take lessons in being gracious winners. Calling us perrenial easybeats was a little unfair also as we are a newish club and if you look at the archives we are steadily improving. Other than that the conditions levelled the teams out. Good on SV for having such a strong club though would that we had the resources and support of people like that.

This Week:

As Orpewise says we are looking forward to this game with Eastbourne, senior players know this is a game that we should contest pretty evenly given that our Uni boys are available and fit.

General:

Way to go Slayers well done!!!! makes sadder viewing for us though lol

those north wellington lads a lol,
they are the only team we have beaten all season but it was in a pre season friendly.
and yeah hope we do have a mini league at the end of the season and play some of the teams from 14A, see if they are more on par with us or we are more par with them :) and it would give us a few more games in what seems like a really short season.

Yes that would be good Christo. The bottom teams in 14a include our old friends the Slayers and Martians and our new friends the Cougars --them plus us the mighty Mana will probably make up the bottom four.
