3-1?  Serious?  Tawa B safe then.  Marist or U Hutt going down.

I had heard from one of Karori's players yesterday that a number of players couldn't play due to work commitments, etc.  Just one of those things with a Monday night game I guess.

Hard luck though Marist.  Hopefully you can pick up a win on Saturday to stay up, although am guessing you will be playing a different U Hutt team than you have played previously as well.

Not going to go on about their team as it causes too much grief.
Definately a different team than we have seen over the past months.
Well done.
please do go on about it cos you are talking rubbish.

What happened to Marist? Both times we played them I though they were a solid team, a bit surprised they are in trouble.

What a ridiculous table though. Before play on Saturday there were 5 teams in danger of finishing second. Huge games this weekend.

Yeah hopefully a win Saturday,it just doesn't weigh up that karori couldn't field players due to work commitments and then fields a team that played pretty damn well and beats us,bottom team of the grade and comes out and plays in all honesty like they should be in the top 4.
Since i am a moaning bastid i had a look at Karori's homepage and found 2 players that were there last night from the Vistas.Two....
? sorry fella but you are being a very poor loser here. If you want the facts - then the only player to have played above Cap2 this season at all was Jon Suggate -who was with them last year but has played a handful of games with the Dreamers this year as he is getting old. His 5 brothers play for the team and he lives nearby to Te Whaea  -and the Vistas needed a player for a random Monday game.
Wasn't the other time you lpayed them over Easter when they had about 6 players?

edit- actually Steen has stepped up for the Dreamers a couple of times

I don't think Marist can have to many complaints.  Below is what the table looked like after 12 games.  They've managed to pick up a grand total of 1 point in the 5 games since.  That sounds like relegation form to me.

                      P  W  D  L  GF  GA  Pts
Wellington United     12  8  2  2  26  11  26
University 1st XI     11  7  3  1  22   8  24
Tawa A                12  7  1  4  35  19  22
Marist                12  5  3  4  19  17  18

My understanding is that Marist 1st were hit by a lot of injurys and half the 2nd team is now playing for there top side.

Im looking forward to this weeks game against Marist as its always a good battle playing them.  Hopefully we get a good ref that lets the gmae flow and be played the way its meant to be played.  Hopefully we can repeat the 2 - 0 win we had early in the season against them.
Confidence is high as we are on our best win streak of the seaon, one game.

Can someone please remind me of the promo/relegation process for Cap 1/Cap 2, especially with WU unable to go up?  Is it bottom of Cap 1 (BNU) vs 2nd in Cap 2 for a place in Cap 1 next season?  And is second-last in Cap 1 therefore safe?  Sorry, I know I should know this.

I think, as things are now, that Utd won't be able to go up. Therefore 2nd place in cap 2 to play off vs BNU. and I think last place in cap 2 goes straight down whilst 2nd from bottom in cap 2 plays off vs 2nd in cap 3.

bloody stupid, if you ask me, that only 1 team (or perhaps none) will go up to cap 1. They should either send Utd up, or automatically promote the 2nd place team and play off BNU vs 3rd place in cap 2. That's my view. At the end of the day, if they don't allow Utd up (and unfairly so as they did win the league), they should give the chance to the 2nd, 3rd placed teams.

3) In Capital 1 League, the following will determine Relegation:

a) the winning team of Capital 2 will be automatically promoted to
Capital 1 (if eligible for promotion), and
b) the team finishing second in Capital 2 will playoff with the team
finishing ninth in Capital 1 (if eligible for promotion)

c) if the winning team of Capital 2 is not eligible for promotion, the team
finishing second in Capital 2 (if eligible for promotion) will play off
with the bottom placed team in Capital 1

d) If neither of the teams finishing first and second in Capital 2 are
eligible for promotion, the highest eligible team in Capital 2 will
playoff against the bottom placed team in Capital 1.

no bottom two from capital 2 will go straight to capital 3 for seatoun and waikanae.

wellington united cannot go up therefore uni or tawa will playoff against bnu.

I dont like Rule D. Why are the team who finish 3rd not good enough to have a playoff if the 2nd place team can go up, but are if they cant?

Brooklyn will be happy that they get a second chance considering what appears like a pretty wretched season for them. Not going to comment on whether I consider its fair due to our current league position.

I think it's beneficial to leagues to have a good turn over of teams. This is my view as a football fan, not as a player in this league. I think that if a team has done enough to come 3rd and they're lucky that one of the two teams above them can't be promoted, they should have a chance. Of course they might not 'fully' deserve it, but otherwise it's almost like giving the bottom teams in cap 1 an advantage. I am sure either Uni or Tawa - whoever comes 3rd, would give BNU a tough game.

It's a matter of principle.

Only that round and that was just flicking back to about midway through this thread to try and find one.  Just remember Marist being right near the top and then they seem to have really plummeted.  I do still hope they stay up though ahead of U Hutt.

Tawa A's poor first round biting them big time.

This must be about the 4th season they should have promoted.

Apparently if your name is Bill you will never be able to get this team promoted.

Congrats to Wellington United! Definitly the most consistant team in the league this year..
After finally getting a rematch against you guys at the mighty hutt park, it was clear that you guys were the most organised unit defensivly in the league and that was the key to putting together a consistant enough season to win the league. You definitly had enough firepower to score the goals aswell tho... This weeks predictions...
I think:

University 1st XI    __ Olympic            Uni          2-0        Play off here they come!
Tawa A               __    Karori Vistas    Tawa A   4-0   a bit of help from above maybe?
Stop Out             __   Tawa B         Stop Out  2-0   might be intersting if TawaB get a bit of help
Upper Hutt City      -  Marist           UpHut      3-1   I hope not but im sure they will be getting help
Wellington United    -  Uni Gossies   Well U    3-2   A bit of a guess but who knows...

I would like to see Marist stay in this league because they are better than the team that would consistantly turn out for upper hutt this year but having said that it makes sense for Upper hutt to drop down some help, get the points and save their reserves in the hope that they can strengthen this team next year. If our club was in the same position I'd be dissapointed if they didnt. Good luck to Tawa A and Uni, your both good sides and would do well in cap 1.

Anyone else for predictions?

You would hope not. Would be pretty rubbish if teams who were already confirmed as being relegated or safe dont go and stack to ruin other teams chances. Can understand it if they are pushing to go up or stay up but otherwise its just playing the role of spoiler

How can you say that they are consistently better than Upper Hutt when they have only had one extra draw than Upper Hutt.  If they were consistently better than Upper Hutt they wouldnt be in the position that they are in going into the last round.
