I couldn't believe the amount of water lying on the ground outside the clubrooms on Sat night - just flooded everywhere.

If we are lucky, we will get the Velodrome!
Marist Town - yet to play a "home" game this season.

The scarfies have a rough nutter (blonde) at left half and the verbal diarea guy at centre back but apart from him they are all talk. Haven't heard anyone having a dust up with them unlike your lot. Most teams seem to have a loon or two. Cavs have that guy Paul someone who plays on attack who likes a bit of push and chop, not to mention Miramar's old tall central defender/centre mid who is the biggest chopper in the league. The little Miramar guy who plays up front is a hard nut but also a very handy player who gives a bit of verbal too.

Still it seems the refs think the worst team is Miramar, or do you mean some other kind of dirty play is going on, Hoppawate styles..

What about the old dude with grey hair at RB in the scarfies that subs on the pitch and fires personal insults?

I've seen no evidence that Miramar is any worse than any other team in the grade, we just dont back down and we've won our fair share of away games with refs from the other team to prove it.

We've got Naenae and marist town is the last couple of weeks.

The guy with the grey hair was OK on the weekend, nice guy - we didn't have too much in the way of trouble - maybe it's only when Miramar get involved? (and that could be because of a right or wrong pre-conceived view of Miramar teams as cheating / whinging)

No offence Jaycee but your fixture was hardly a "top of the table" clash, at 6-1 up, he was probably more focussed on having a few cheap beers in your clubrooms.

Are you surprised a ref showed up to a Miramar v Cavs game. The two most abusive bunch of choppers in the grade. Miramar get a ref every week and its not because they play within the rules.

Oh, that was a big misunderstanding - some of us heard that you guys like getting it from behind.

Yeah, but the difference is, at 10 goals up  Miramar would still try and cheat and moan about everything.

Its easy to see why Miramar cop a fair bit of stick. Both Mirmar_defender and Footy1 fire the insults even on the forum. And whats with your post about "getting it from behind" about? (thats weird)

To Footy1: sometimes 6-1 doesn't always represent a game and Marist Town always come out to play football. I heard Marist hit the post a few times before they scored so they aren't the mugs you seem to think they are. Its a shame they didn't get closer to them. The Teachers will ruin their run this weekend anyway! Didn't Miramar lost by 8 goals or something to Uni so Marists result stacks up pretty well (before you get to high and mighty about being in 3rd place). With IBM playing Dreamers and MR playing Naenae you'll be in 4th position soon enough. The Uni guys just dish out the typical verbal cr@p and its annoying but I'd rather that than have my ankles chopped in two. In fact Naenae are probably the hardest but fairest team in the league - they'll give you a good run for your money

Relax, all we are doing is taking the piss -the reference is an ongoing joke from two years back in Div 6 - a Uni Scarfies player yelled at the tall guy who plays defence for us (refered to as a donkey on this board) "you always take me from behind!".

A bit of banter in the games makes them way more fun.

Its all right, let it all out, seems like youve both had a chip on your shoulder for a real long time. I havent insulted anyone, just stating the obvious. But as per usual we are the bad guys. Of course we cheated in all 9 of our victories this season. What other explanation can there be? A good footy team maybe... no way!

I don't know if you insult anyone, and really I don't care - just more the feeling that seems to be around that Miramar are cheating, poor losers, but as I said - it may be right or wrong. - I guess a lot of people at clubs don't like Miramar because they are sucessful - and I guess that goes for Wests.

I don't think there is too much wrong with any of the  teams in Div 5, just a few "colourful characters" who maybe go too far. (never really experienced it myself though)

Me, I just like to go out and play a bit of footy on the weekend. (well, try)

Yip I agree, without those guys the game would be pretty boring and have nothing to talk about on forums like this. BTW i think marist town have done really well this season, beating IBM was a stand out. Can't wait till the final game of the year.

Any predictions for final placings then...

Scarfies or Cavs to win? Probably Scarfies by 1 point after Teachers beat them!
Third place to the resurgent Naenae or a desperate IBM
Marist Town to beat Miramar Rangers on the last day
Teachers get 3 points on the final day of the season and pip Miramar Rangers for 5th spot?

I play for naenae, hopefully we don't drop another game this year, as for the division I think its quite even contested and any team is capable of beating the other on the day ( aside from maybe dreamers ).

I think what gets people with us is we play quite hard, whilst trying to play fair too and looking at the size of our team, ya wouldn't expect it! We don't really have any big guys on our side.

gl to everyone for the rest of season

Just saw yesterday's posts and wanted to make sure we're in no doubt about one thing - even though the Scarfies have an 11-1 aggregate on Miramar for the season, we still wouldn't like to play them every week, as it's barely worth the aggravation.

The decent blokes you have in your team (yes, they exist) are obscured by a right-to-win mentality that can't handle being on the wrong side of a spanking. Oh, and as far as I'm aware Footy1, we haven't had to sub anyone off this season for booting someone off the ball.

Our defenders only give what they get. Yes we can be mouthy, but it's a sensitive soul that confuses that with dirty play.

As for the weekend, I' like to see Marist Town do well, not because of their opposition, but because they genuinely seemed like a team that could put some good footy together (if the pitch lets them!) Us Scarfies won't be taking the Teachers lightly, as they seem to have put some big results up since we played them at the start of the season, while Naenae and Miramar could go either way, with IBM ready to capitalise on any slip-up.

crickey Duffman, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?? That was yesterday's banter. Weve all kinda moved on from that, but thanks for your input.

I dont really know what you are saying with regard to sub someone off for booting a player off the ball.

Scarfies are deserved top of the table team, Cavs no doubt will ask a few late season questions.

Y is every1 against Miramar?. We have never had any probs in both games we have had against them. They wont stand 4 any pushing ETC ,but the Uni team & Naenae are the angry teams of the grade. The old grey haired dude in Uni worst in the grade for cheap shots & shocking mouth as well. Think most of u need to harden up. Most teams are clean in this Div. Dam stop crying. Most of you should be playing Netball.

Thats funny, one of the Cavs said the same thing on Saturday about how you guys acted when they spanked you 4-1.

I dont remember any agro against Scarfies at Ben Burn park?? Except for the grey haired guy, who as soon as he came on to the pitch, he shouted some insult and then got laughed at by BOTH sides - which i think was the point i was trying to make yesterday.

Agreed - I thought the game at Benburn was played in good spirits and was a very clean game.

I also thought the Cavs were nice guys - I only played in the loss to them, but they were more than amiable and we had a few beers with them afterwards. Granted, they were quite physical, but certainly weren't dirty.

The only dirty thing I have seen this season was one of the Miramar guys kicking our winger, but it was pretty much just a heat of the moment thing - nothing too extreme, and not pre-meditated. Personally, I enjoyed the banter with the Miramar guys - especially the little short guy up front.

You seem confused Footy1. One minute you say that the Scarfies are the worst team in the league for chopping, the next you say that there is no agro when you play them.

And I saw a "harden up" comment back there... why does a bit of verbal bother you Miramar boys so much - personally I just hate two footed and late challenges (whcih are usually the precurser to the verbal)

No i'm not confused, i looked back on all my postings and i never said once that scarfies were the worst at chopping.

All teams in the div are as bad as each other, you know it as well as me, that chopping (and verbal) has occured in every game by every team. I just think Miramar shouldnt be singled out. All teams should get off there moral high ground.

I know what a facial is in league, but unsure how it relates to playing football - or how you get into the situation to put your forearm over the guys face??

Hey Cnut - grammar from a dictionary??

Take your search filter off on google and try facial.  See what you get (so to speak).

Disclaimer : You may not want to try this on a work machine.

Apologies Footy1, you're right, I considered chopping to be "dirty play" as you put it in your post. I stand corrected. And whats this facial business?
Permalink Permalink

No probs - is getting a facial being verbally abused in a game??
Permalink Permalink
over 18 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
looks like some posts have been deleted - the answer is probably in there - I'd say its a bit of verbal that cuts deep and leaves them a bit red perhaps - like an acid wash that chicks get when they have a facial

Who know's, I'll probably end up starting for firsts, cudby and mike o came off last weekend injured so we could be struggling in the back-line and the two poms have gone home! so it's still a mystery to me until training on thursday!

been a strange year for me, almost had an evergreen for the 1st team last year ( only missed twenty minutes of one game all year apart from games I was injured for ) then this year dunno, had a big slump in form to be honest haha.

miramar_defender, I'm sure Abdullah will be pleased to have the other half of his ear back if you could bring it along ;)
