Jamie Cross, the ex-Olympic player ?
Yep he's just the man to be biased against the club.
Hilarious.

I was on the other side of the pitch from the bubbles fans- and there was one fairly well oiled Naenae supporter giving each of the Greeks as they went up to take their penalties a fair amount of very loud and vocal offensive abuse - he was asked to tone it down by another Naenae fan - to which he took a bit of offence to himself. So no angels on both sides.
What the bubbles fans were doing - booing and whistling during Naenae penalties - is no different from what we were all doing in the YF zone during Melbourne's penalties in last seasons PSC final.

What a sore loser.
First of all...have a look at this video...HEAPS of silence http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9-8UsJ-cpc
I think at times our supporting crowd have been put under the microscope and once or twice have stepped out of line, but on this occasion. I think your just being a pansy.
Put yourself in our shoes, second year in a row we've made it to the playoffs final and after losing the league by goal difference, spirits were high and failure was just not an option. All we did was spur on our team and like your Naenae fans did with no hesitance tried to put off your penalty takers.
With comments like ,"Just typical Olympic spectator sh*t, they wonder why nobody likes their club?, i think your a stooge, especially when you look at the other side of the fence where your supporters were screaming, putting us off if not worse just as bad.
Thanks anyway.

I thought we justified some of jamies calls at times with the chant, 'same old jamie, always eating.' I LOL'd.

OMG.. i cannot beleive this.
I was there for the whole day, firstly watching an entertaining Island Bay v Tawa game, and then went to the supermarket for a few beers to settle down with the family to watch the main game. Pretty dissapointing that the Wests clubrooms were not open for a drink and something to eat, they could have made a killing!
Really enjoyed both games, and i can honestly say there was nothing wrong with the atmosphere during the shoot out!
Who in their right mind sits there at a game and stays silent! next you will be asking the supporters to clap nicely, and say 'Jolly Well done' to the players.
Its a game of footie!! this is so typical of other clubs always trying to take a dig at Olympic!.
The biggest reason why you all hate Olympic is because of the Loyalty! Greeks are greeks, they all stick together, and the whole community and the culture is a big part of the club! they have greeks right throughout the little ones, juniors, social and seniors... they are passionate about their club and about the game.
give them a break guys, they deserve to be in the semi finals of the CC, they deserve to be playing Wests to win the Central League, they deserve to be in Champs Premier.
You are all only jealous cause it aint you!
You were beat fair and square on the day... you had two strikers who were very average! scored a lucky goal after our keeper fumbled, and we hit the post near the end!
This is the reason why i joined the club! passion, commitment, loyalty, and community!
If ya dont like it, i'll tell it to ya face at the next Phoenix game, come and see me, Blockers the name!!
just imagine Robbie Fowler getting a penalty aganist Phoenix at the stadium 1 minute from time to win the game... you reckon we will all stand there in silence and not do anything!
Get a life!.. no sorry, ill rephrase that... get a decent team!

See, I like the Bubbles, have for quite a while... it's sort of a secret shame. I think the first team play some great football and there are some superb players and good guys in the top few teams.
The trouble is that many of the followers make it pretty damn hard to like the club in general with the way they behave on here.

Hardnews good to hear you like the club, I dont think any of the Olympic supporters have done anything wrong, I just dont think you understand when there is constantly stupid remarks aimed at the club. But lets leave that aside.. this thread as far as im concerned is pretty much over with. Time to concentrate on central league and chatham cup. Next year it will be the Champs Premier thread that has all the discussion. Cheers

Final word - From Joe Carlin, Naenae coach:
From my point of view I had no problems with the Olympic supporters good on them
for making themselves heard and supporting the team. We never missed the pens
because of anything that was said from the sidelines. Good luck to the Olympic
team for next year.

Good on him. He seems a pretty fair-minded bloke from what I've seen.

Respect goes to Naenae's coach. Well played throughout and even in the end, when we were making noise and one of the Naenae players ran up to us an tried to cause sh*t, their coach held him back and told him go sit down and apologized to us.

Would be nice for sports crowds in general to behave more like the Rugby crowd in Ireland did when the All Blacks were taking penalties there during their game vs Munster(?). Absolute silence in the crowd when a penalty was being taken....was a pretty amazing spectacle and really ssiplayed the respect the crowd had for the opposition and for the sportsnamship in general.
I'm not saying no crowd noise, reacting to events on the field and voicing your displeasure and enjoyment is great and part and parcel of the game and experience, but deliberately trying to distract or put off a player is bad sportsmanship and bad spectatorship too I reckon, even tho it is accepted and regarded as normal. Seeing some of the kids down by the players tunnel at Nix home games abusing opposition players when they come out or back really makes me sad. Futile thing to say I guess as it ain't going to change but there you go.
Plenty of other clubs in wellington have the same amount of loyalty, support and passion that Olympic does, I guess at any club it boils down to how many idiots there are spectating and what the rest of the club spectators do to moderate their impact.
