I must admit all the rubbish talk aside, I think Olympic are way to interested across 3 leagues to drop players. And frankly if I was bumped from the second team by Raf, I'd be pissed! (they did it last year, so don't say I'm taking the mick, I played against him!).

So good luck to the Olympic boys, we were deffinetly the two teams that deserved to be there at the end. Plus I'd rather play at Newtown next year then Naenae park!

edit -  looks like the Olympic chap just removed the post about him captaining the second team but also playing firsts. Everyone be very very quiet

Indeed.

My point was more a long the lines that the rule should be adjusted. E.g players are eligible for promo game if they have played in over half the games for that team (just a loose idea).

Because any 2nd team players that take the feild in a higher league from now on miss the promo game...thats a bit harsh if you have played all season for a 2nd team. The promo game could be weeks away and suspension/injuries may mean the 1st team require 2nd team players who as a consequence will nolonger be eligible for the 2nd team. It would also solve the issue of 1sts team droping players at the end of the season...

d) when a team has completed its season, and is involved in a playoff, no further players can be regraded to that team.

I know what you meant, but the rule states - no regrading - not - only regrading to a higher grade is legal.

Smithy you know the rules... it can be done that way should they chose to.. but I  am picking they wont...
And news they rules only state regrading, players coming up dont have to be regrade believe me

I'm fairly certain "regrading" is not defined in the rules but is generally regarded as meaning "moving to a lower grade".  So, for example, when someone plays up a grade they are not "regraded" in the eyes of Capital Football, but to move back down a grade they must be "regraded".

If this is in fact the case then yourmomma is right and theoretically a player could be regraded down to a team whose season is not yet complete and then be called upon by the higher grade team for the playoff match.

Chances of Raf de Gregorio making an appearance in Capital 3?

One needs to read the "regrading rule

It applies to player/s coming from a higher grade to a lower grade ONLY.

So if a club was to drop player/s to a lower grade ie capital 3  then at a later time take such player/s to a higher grade (even for a PLAY-OFF game) this is within the regrading rule.

The RG rule as of November 2005 was Once a TEAM had  completed its season, no players could be regraded.

At this meeting it was explained what the ramifications would be it the rule was changed to its current wording however the clubs went for the change.

The RG rule has been amended at least 6-10 times in the last 15 years, I was the one that re-wrote the current rule with Graeme Sole.

Before the beginning of the 2009 season I asked the manager (KP) to amend it as it has a major loophole, the odd club has picked up on it but thank the games lucky stars they have not enforced.

So Olympic Can drop 1st team players to div 2 and below and at a later date/time play them in a play-off match.

I don't come close to knowing everything... mind you with a shout at the league and Chatham Cup I think we can all be pretty sure Olympic aren't going to be dropping anyone for a promotion match from Cap 1.

Might help redwards regrade though.

I joke.I asure you it will be a 2nd team.

Central league and Chatham Cup are rightfully our focus,

If our 2nd team aren't able to beat naenae by themselves they shouldn't be promoted.

Better than putting up with the crap administration that I hear that is coming out of CF.

Why is the old problem of the RG rule is coming up again.

It is up to the clubs to read it, make a call to CF and if they dont like the response, play the game then protest to NZF.

In the 11 years that I was involve in making the calls, CF was only taken to NZF once.

If your ever down here call me

AWWWWW, you know I jest Newsy. I loved coming to Naenae last season, getting pumped 7 nil, being coated head to toe in mud and then getting player of the day. Good times

Plus Naenae is a much shorter drive for me.. at the moment. Naenae for the win (also free beers for the win!)

Correct, the catch was, as long as the grade/division was not completed, teams in such grade then could re-grade from such to a lower grade.

This ment that any club that had games cancelled in one grade were helping others to stack teams in lower grades.

That's a bit cheeky.  Not really what the rule says.

Rule should probably read something like: "once all the games in a grade have been completed or Capital Football have determined that they are not to be played, not including any promotion or relegation games, no player may be regraded into any team from that grade for any promotion or relegation game."

Smithy, The idea, was that players who play in higher grade can not be used to "stack" a team once their grade has finished, problem is clubs have found a way to beat the system.

It was this loophole and also the problem listed below that I tried to close before I left.

Look at Reg 3 (page 11) and the part at the end of 3.1 where it reads

If a Club has a team in a higher COMPITITION, the following shall apply:

(Only the clubs that play in the CL have a team in a higher Comp).

This part was added to stop the then National League clubs who also had a team in the Federation Leagues from stacking.

therefore reg 3. 1 (a-d) only applies to the clubs who have a team in the CL. All others do not have a regrading rule to adhere to.

The word Competition is the one that now needs to be worked on.

Just to dreg this up for one last gloat, and to get us back on track

The modified and correct table (for some reason our game against Karori has been recorded as a 4-3 win to us. Daft.

I am picking North Wellington to get a cheeky win over Petone and to come 4th, after dicing with relegation most of the season.

Picks of the year

Over achievers - Has to be Karori
Under achievers - North Wellington again, after being so close last year to blow it at the end.
Most entertaining - Probably Stokes Valley, they shipped a buttload of goals (I didn't think it would get worse then last year), but they did it. But they scored a heap too

As for a team of the year, bugger I dunno. Me in goal, the rest can get buggered, everyone knows only goalies matter
CAPITAL 1:
North Wellington      1    Olympic               2
Petone                0    Island Bay United     4
Wellington United     3    Wainuiomata           2
Brooklyn Northern     2    Stokes Valley         3
Marist                1    Karori Dreamers       0

                       P  W  D  L  GF  GA  Pt
Marist                18 10  6  2  34  12  36
Olympic               18 11  3  4  42  24  36
Karori Dreamers       18 11  2  5  53  33  35
Petone                17  8  1  8  37  40  25
Wellington United     18  7  3  8  36  40  24
North Wellington      17  6  4  7  25  23  22
Stokes Valley         18  7  1 10  40  58  22
Wainuiomata           18  6  1 11  35  50  19
Island Bay United     18  5  3 10  25  35  18
Brooklyn Northern     18  3  6  9  19  31  15

Congratulations to Marist for winning the League and Olympic
through to the playoff

You're right about Stokes Valley - 98 goals scored in the 18 games involving them....an average of more than 5 per game - they'd be great to watch!

Quite possible.  We'll probably play our U19s I think.

For mine:

Over achievers - Has to be Karori - I agree with the Nomad.
Under achievers - Brooklyn.  Not a bad side but self destructed at some point.
Most entertaining - Olympic.  Great to watch and play against.  Pleased they earned themselves a playoff spot playing lots of open football.  Hopefully we can follow their lead next year.

My contribution to team of the year has to be that bloke that plays up front for Stokes Valley (TK?).  Touches of class.

Over achievers - Has to be Karori - I agree
Under achievers - I agree, Brooklyn. Got talent but no consistency and no striker to score goals.
Most entertaining - Marist.  Even tho Im from Olympic I really think Marist played the best footy. I watched the 2nd team play quite a few games this year and never really saw a great lot of footy. When I watched Marist (twice) I thought they looked pretty good (thanks to their midfield). Both teams deserved to finish 1st n 2nd.

As for dirtiest act: Player up front for Stokes Valley, some skin head arab.. elbowed our player in the face and didnt even get a card when our guy was on the ground. who ever is playing Stoke please jst double foot him. Thank you, appreciate it.
