Until Wharf play them and smoke them 6 nil again...

It's about that time in the season when Stop out implode

Cant see them losing 6 nil again to the wharf. Players were rested and different combinations played. Agree it will be a tough game though and could go either way.

Football is a cruel game. Lost 1-0 to Marist who had less than a hand full of chances, when we had plenty. Their goal went through the middle of the wall from a free kick - couldn't believe that - and then we just couldn't put it in the net. You've got to hand it to marist, they don't play a lot of football but they manage to get results. The last three times we have played them it's been the same story. That Brazilian fella who got sent must be a pain in the arse to have in your side, he doesn't do a lot other than cause shit.

Fuck this stupid game

There is a write-up on the Capital Football website on the Petone-Karori game, and a link to lots of photos. Click on link below the photo of the Petone Central League goallie.

Oly 1 Wharf 1, IB 3 SO 3. Rather chilly at Wakefield

A big reversal from first Oly - Wharf game, what happened?

Permalink Permalink

Wharf drew 1-1 with South Pole United at the treeless Iceberg Park No 2. Home team scored halfway through first half, Wharf equallised through sub J Sutherland with 10 min to go. An even game; both sides had chances to win. Dazza in goal for Wharf. Fourth keeper used in 10 league games.

Why are Wharfies going through so many keepers?

Permalink Permalink

Unless there is more heavy rain, KP 1 will be OK for the Wharf v VicVar game on Sat. However, Cap 1 Wharf v Gossies might be moved to No 2.

The lower carpark is still unhappy.

And two other reserves players away. Lucky all the other grades were canned but I still thought 10-0 was disappointing. Must have dropped their heads at some point in that second half.

Wharf 2 (Gordy 2) Varsity 0. Mighty run down the lefty wing by Dazza to set up the second goal. KP No 1 had two matches on it today and stood up OK. No 3 is looking a bit muddy.

F/T Stop Out 7 Miramar 0.

Joe Gaughan got a couple of crackers in his four.

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

IB beat Wharf 2-1. Bright game. Both sides had plenty of half chances. Wharf hit the bar at 1-2 in the second half. Wharf used fifth keeper (J Gould) in 12 league games. Sideline rumour is that Van Hattum (both Frank and Nick), Gilly and Pasto are trialling for the big game against SO next week.

Olympic v Utd 1-1. We were down 1-0 from a dodgy peno and had a man rightfully sent for dissent. Then managed to score a good goal with 10 to go. Olympic had more of the ball but played around the back and wide a lot without getting into scoring positions much. We weren't great at times but had some good patches and created some chances. Bit of a scrappy battle but was played in pretty good spirits until an off field incident I didn't see after the whistle.

Actually, why wouldn't they move cap prem games to the turf?

Permalink Permalink

Combination of things I reckon.  Other leagues have been cancelled before so they need to catch up. Plus pretty tough to move your first team off your pitch and send them into town or to the Hutt.

Stop Out 5 Marist 2. Joe Gaughan scored four great goals. Steven Gulley with the other. First half had Stop Out 4-1 up.  (Less than impartial view: the second Marist goal; was NEVER a pen!)

Stop Out's second goal was one of the better goals of the season. Quality play from Fisum Aden.

Second half saw a great piece of theatre. Marist had a player sent off who then managed to get (correct choice of words) a Stop Out player sent off. After he got his red card he kicked out at Fisum Aden who reacted and got a red. Then the Marist guy refused to leave the pitch despite a few of his own team telling him, quite bluntly, to go, Hopefully some wise head at Marist will have a chat  with the guy and sort him out.  I heard the ref explaining to his decision to Fis aftter the match. I would say the ref's tone was apologetic.

I say 'Marist guy' as I am not sure of his name. Mario I believe. Someone from Marist able to confirm that? How hard is it for clubs to supply team names and numbers for programmes?

Joe's goals were definitely quality - all 4 from different moments of play.
The penalty however was definitely a penalty, with our lad saying he got kicked right in the ankle after the game. And frankly Stop Out got away with a decent amount, with a fairly vocal and biased side line.
The sending off was hardly that dramatic - Mario kicked out at Fisum and then Fisum reacted (this is refs words), and both got reds. Well before either got cards. As for the sending off - you make it sound like Fisum is innocent - he had to be wrestled off the pitch by Gully for... I'm not sure - Mario saying he would take him on? Either way it was not exactly becoming of either guys who got red cards.
As for the team line up, I have no idea what getting a team line up is like. We had injuries and surgeries happening on Thursday, so not that easy. Plus we like to swap numbers... so sorry to the book keepers?
Either way - Stop Out with a deserved victory

All well and good except that para in bold. At this level, clubs should be organised enough to provide a squad list for a match day programme. It's not hard. "We like to swap numbers" - wtf?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

The fella who was sent off for Marist was an absolute embarassment to their club. He came off the bench with a pathetic attitude to just foul people. Even gave the stop out spectators the fingers and a rude gesture with his genitals on his way off. That team sems to be a fair reflection of some poor coaching by the sounds of some of the stuff coming out of what seemed to be their coaches mouth. Felt a bit sorry for some of the players in their team who a actually try and play the game properly.
