And just to chime in having... what 5 different keepers (all quality mind you) through the season?

Lets however talk relegation. Seems pretty dead certain that Wainui or Welly United are for the dustbin. Maybe both, but who knows with the lolfest that is Capital/Courtroom 1. Frankly after the game against Wainui in the weekend, they look like a pretty beaten team, and if Welly United gets an upset/we put out our masters in the second to last game of the season. They could pip Wainui at the post

why would you put your masters in?

mostly depends on our first team staying up but both sides have lost a lot of players (including myself) over the second half of the season. Its gonna be tough.

Wharf beat Marist 3-0 (Sutherland 3 incl two pens). Marist 10-men after 20 mins (ball handled off the line). At least the fluro orange Nomad enjoyed the lack of mud let alone any puddles. Somewhat scrappy in second half and the pitch which well grassed could use a roll.

That's the only mention I get?! Harsh :P.
Karori were pretty flat I thought, Batty and Poly no where near as good as usual. Sutherland was classy today. But based on what I have seen over a couple of weeks I think the league is Stop Outs to lose

Flew back to play the game against wainui, money well spent but pity the firsts didn't do the job.

Welly united firts aren't up to much favourites for relegation, tbh I think stop out would beat them fairly easy. Trickle down effect for the seconds unfortunately

Playing squad or philosophical sense?
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Stop Out / Petone was a case of Stop Out kept going and going and going and eventutally cracked them. On another day probably would have taken it by several goals more but...
Joe Gaughan with two. (First one - http://www.flickr.com/photos/nzlenz/9427773022/in/photostream/ )

Diamonds drew with karori at home last year, although the team is quite thin at the moment.

Wharf beat Wgtn Utd 5-0. First half was 4-0 (Sutherland 3, OG) but a scrappy second half brought just one more goal (Dazza) plus a missed penalty.

Did the keeper save it or did the taker miss?

Hit bar and went over. Think it was a goal kick so was not a save.

Rumour has it there was noone on the bench in the 2nd half. Not even a coach.

Ha yep there is a picture of this. Coach left at half time and the three subs at half time legged it.

Yeah like I said the squad is quite bare at the moment for various reasons. The main problem we've had this year is that the 5 ole kids that we took on this season refuse to play for the reserves. Most the time they are not good enough for the firsts and the first team squad of 18-20 has never spilled over into the reserves unless a player was coming back from injury. If these kids don't make the first team for Saturday they simply don't play. If they were asked to play reserves the club would get a call from Declan Edge who would demand that they play first team. Was pretty frustrating for the reserves coach and players and even the third team because it meant we would take players from them so they struggled too. Had guys playing 2x 90 minutes on occasions this year. I can't explain why the coach left yesterday but I know one lad had to start a shift at 4pm. The others probably left to play for another team. Half the team were ring ins anyway (It doesn't help that I left a couple weeks ago too) In hindsight we deserve to go down with that kind of management going on and it's no real surprise. I feel sorry for the players who gave it everything because there isn't much they could do about it.

Coach left to assist with 1sts as Gee started against UH and needed help.  As you say TopLeft, it's just another issue with resourcing we are stuck with.  Unless there are assistant coaches out there who want to work for free at CL level?  (New Tui Billboard). But I won't let feverish have the opportunity and state the obvious now that this situation isn't our problem anymore. ;-).   But we hope it will be again soon.

Sympathise completely, but I don't reckon many assistants or managers at Central League level would be getting much or any money.

At least I know at the clubs I've been involved with only the head coach has been "paid" as such. The others have been, like you and me, volunteers.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

2 games to go in the league....  Does anyone know the relagation scenarios for this league? Is it 2 that go down? Does that depend on anything? The top end of the table seems simple, If Stop Out beat Uni they win the league.

Not mocking the situation, but possibly a player coach in CL with no co-coah ain't a great plan

I don't think it was the original plan. If G is playing his striking stocks must be low. Waits for jokes about lack of goals etc.

This here

So Welly United Firsts take place of Seconds
Wainui Relegated instantly if Stop Out don't get promoted, and LHC take their place?
Marist play off vs 3rd place team?

OR

Welly United Firsts take Seconds place
Stop Out promoted and LHC take there place
Wainui play off vs 3rd place team?

you're still a chance of relegation if United come down and PNM go up.

That's what I thought, but it would be a play off wouldn't it?
Permalink Permalink

Yeah. Against Seatoun at this stage.

Permalink Permalink

So..pretty sure this is how it works.

If PNM go up then United coming come creates an extra team in PL. So United 2nds and Wainui would go down, and Seatoun would play off against the 3rd last.

if Stop go up, then United 2nds would go down, and Seatoun would play off against Wainui.

has Seatoun confirmed the play-off spot? Yes from memory?

Pretty much. We (Miramar) can catch them, and they can catch Karori but both very unlikely.

Lets say Mar caught seatoun, Mar cannot go up either... does this mean seatoun would still get the play off spot in 4th? haha

No
Vic came third last year and got auto promoted.
North Welly came 4th and got nuffin

From what I have seen, the gap between Cap 1 and Cap prem is quite large so I can't see Seatoun getting up. Could be wrong though...

CF regs say no team coming fourth or lower can be promoted unless there are gaps in the league above. So there will be no challenge for Seatoun if they come fourth.

Seatoun would struggle against Marist. But against Wainui (who haven't won since about the 4th round) then they'd have a good shot.

Agree with that. I'm not 100% sure but the game would likely be at a neutral venue? Wainui are generally a lot worse away from Wainui.

Have seen Seatoun a few times in the past 2 seasons and sometimes they look like they would easily compete in Cap Prem and other times looked like they were not quite there but they will definitly be better than Wainui! I think they would go pretty good against Marist on a good day, would be good to see another clubs 1st team in the league.
