Tawa f**k up again they drew 1 all with Karori and from what I hear dominated and couldn't score in a brothel. I'm pretty sure Olympic beat Lower Hutt as they were playing at Happy Valley next to us and sounded like they won

someone reckoned it was a late Tawa penalty?

Yes, they did.
They were given a penalty in the first play of the game. Defender got the ball, forward fell: penalty, goal. Same thing happened in the second half. Shocking. Our club captain is thinking about placing a complaint, for what it's worth...

Just a sh*t game really. We dominate for 80' of the game but only scored once. They were gifted those 2 pens, scored a decent 3rd and then in the dying stages our keeper spilled another one.

Our coach got sent off, cause the 2nd pen was too much. We had worked hard to equalize and were well on our way to getting another one. The ref said that "the look on the face of the defender was too intense", hence the penalty. It didn't matter that our defender had got to the ball about a second before their striker bumped into him and fell.
I got booked during my warm up - again - without even cursing. This is quite annoying actually, last year I was sent off for shouting: "ref, it's not offside"!
I guess I'll start swearing a bit more.

Tawa did score from a pen but that was in the 1st half. Karori then equalized shortly after half time.

Looks like another season in Cap 2 next year after a good mid-season run that had put us top of the league. Unfortunately our inability to kill teams off may cost us in the end.

Still 3 games to go though so who knows, 9 more points could be enough if teams above us slip up.

predictions for the weekend? Olympic set to drop players or more likely to drop there players for the important game against Marist in cap1?
Permalink Permalink

I can't see Olympic dropping any players down to their 3rd team. Or 1st team players to their 2nds. Doesn't make any sense at all. So don't worry about it.

2 points from 1st down to 4th - Last 2 rounds will be intersting.

In our game at Kelburn 2day vs the Uni 1sts we had a good 4-1 win. Took an ealy lead b4 Uni made it 1-1 from a pen. We then scored 3 goals in 10 mins shortly b4 HT. Scoreless 2nd half.

I have to say that I am still very very very disappointed. Hugely disappointed in fact. Thinking about the game today, you guys deserved the point. You were lethal to say the least, and, especially in the second half, got a goal with every shot.

We, after all, weren't as clinical as we should have been. In the firts 30-35' I think we were playing very well, but we just couldn't finish our chances. Your number 11 (older guy) was very good up front and he created the first 2-3 goals.

it was a final for us, and i have to say that we beat ourselves to begin with, and then you finished us off. What a pity!

anyhow, well done to you guys and good luck for the rest of the season.
I am just going to keep myself busy with the Multi Ethnic football championship and the Nix!!

PS - just another thing to add. The ref was great. Anyone knows who he is? He talked to the players, explained himself. He didn't allow too much contact and was consistant with his decisions. He also played advantage - which is almost a novelty in cap.2 - and was a nice guy who didn't take crap from anyone. So it shows that you can be a competent and nice ref without being abused or being a full-on arse hole!

once again, well done Tawa & good game to the ref too!
We'll be back next season, that's for sure :)

We played Dreamers at Crawford on Saturday.. totally dominated the game, scored a good goal in first half, second half our striker was fouled 2 metres inside the penalty area! Ref,whistled, booked the defender and gave a free kick 2 metres outside the area! what a joke!

We hit the post, had a few chances to close the game out but couldnt. Respect to Dreamers, they continued to battle, and got a late penalty after their coach got fed up with the players on the pitch and brought himself on!! Ref got it right with that penalty though.

Good game, but we should have won by at least 3 goals!

We are riddled with injuries though, our keeper now gone to Greece for a month, have five of us injured on the sidelines.

But to be honest, we are just a bunch of old guys (who played masters 5 years ago!), but still have a chance of winning the league!. The young guys arent coming through anymore...

WHERE ARE THEY?

We cant carry on playing in this level!

Look forward to the return match v Stop Out this week, we always have a good game vrs them!

Go the Nix!

Ha typical Greek response to the game

To be fair they fairly dominated the first half we were pinned in for most of it and scored a goal from a pretty good well taken finish and some awful marking. They could have got another one or two they hit the post once which was kind of unlucky.

second half we started playing a bit more and stopped giving them the ball so much. Yeah foul was inside the box but I took the ball and not the man the Brazilian went down like a tone of bricks. Still some refs would have pointed to the spot and gave me a red card, but I took the ball not the man so i was kind of pissed.

As the greeks tired we got better and better another 10 minutes and i reken we would have scored. The two brazilians 7 and 15 were quality so was your center back good game fully exhausted at the end.

I think Miramar will end up winning it now can't see them dropping points to either seatoun or stop out disappointing for us the only team we lost to this year was university. Pitty they couldn't have played well against anybody else(especially miramar, tawa and olympic) and helpped us out!

Dreamers vs Olympic game was a good one. Olympic dominated first half, then dreamers dominated second half. But like all always Olympic seem to dominate in the smack talking side of things, certainly can take the league in that area.

1) The game vs Stop Out would be interested as both team will probably stack their teams..

2) Disappointing??!! We were on fire when we beat you guys twice in a week! :) Especially the first game was awesome!
But I agree that we screwed up in all the important games. We drew vs Miramar a couple of weeks ago and thorougly deserved a win. Lost to Olympic 4-3 only because there wasn't a refree and they roughed us up. Tawa destroyed us twice, though we seemed to be able to get something out of it in the first 35' of the game on Sat.

It's been the story of the season: playing well in patches, creating tons of chances and only scoring 1/10 and conceding very easy goals. Also, we didn't step it up on the physical side. Sometimes a bit of pushing, shoving, getting into someone's face gets you a very long way: look at Olympic.

All I have to say is for an old team that doesnt train, quite a good effort to compete with the young dreamers, after a 6 nil drumming a month or so ago. Hopefully the Mar slip up. You never know..

Us pushing and shoving.. give me a break! it's a man's game? i would honestly say we have had about 5 yellow cards all season! we had a sending off, but that because our defender handballed it on the line!

Fed up with these young pups coming on here and cant take a bit of hard tackling! we play fair and square, just how the game should be played!

If you cant take a bit of hard tackling, go play mixed  indoor or something! you know the games you play where you have to have at least 2 girl players!... you can be one of them ya girl's blouse!

Too right Pavlos!

It makes us laugh, sitting on the sideline watching these teams turn up an hour before the game running shuttles, playing one touch, chasing each other round the pitch doing star jumps, whilst we sit there chatting about the League the night before, then five minutes before kick off, kick the ball around.

It's not about the fitness.. it's all about vision, skill, and experience. You youngters can run all day granted, but can ya take a player on, get a decent cross over, dummy a player and play a nice one two then finish? nar .. or at least not often.

But i do take my hat off to you all, you do try hard, and give us a decent game. The only game we got hammered was the Dreamers game 6-0.. the rest, we have been there or there abouts. This round we are unbeaten. only conceeded 2 goals in five games!

When you have a 43 year old stirker, scoring hatricks in this league, there is something seriously wrong with local Fottball!

Me personally, the best players in this league are all over 35.

Chris Christie - Olympic Striker.

Addie - Miramar Midfielder.

University - The Silver Fox who plays in the middle of the park running the show for them.

Dreamers - The Coach!!

Ian Minshall - Olympic Defender

Not one young player has stood out for me in this league, or at least not anyone i could say should be playing higher. And that is a fact!

When you have a 43 year old stirker, scoring hatricks in this league, there is something seriously wrong with local Fottball!

Same old broken record as last year "Back in my day, we had to walk 15 mile to school 'nd back in the Snow 'nd Ice, wit nought but shorts n singlet...played "fottball" wit' bare feet 'nd  hedgehog...you young lads don't know th' meanin' ov 'ard."

Jeez, how about just taking pride in your ability to play well at this at whatever age you are, but not dissing the young'uns? There is plenty of talented youth in the grade, look at Minties son for you lot upfront? Would have been different games vs us (Marist) if he hadn't been playing (ditto for Mintie in fact). Both Uni teams have good young players with potential, as do Tawa, Wellington, us etc...

I've played at equivalent Cap 2 level on and off for 15 years,  and I reckon it's not at all worse than it used to be back in the 90's and I think is better in terms of the style of football that some teams at least try (and often succeed) to play. Younger teams have and will pretty much always be not as 'hard' as older teams, that's just the way of it, as they get older, they will get stronger etc...

Sure, everyone is entitled to their opinion, just a shame yours is a self absorbed one.

hey when you said the best players in the league I think you should mention Gary Romijn scored  I think 22 goals this season and missed a couple of matches. Been golden boot at the club for two years and probably this year as well, so 3 years. Must be doing something right!!!

dirtiest team in the league. nuff said. As if anyone care about a bit of pushing and shoving. That was a euphemism. Your number 11 is one of the worst players I've ever seen. He always trips people when the ref isn't looking just to get in your face. Your young striker up front (haven't seen him 2 weeks ago but he was there when we lost 4-3) is another handful. Hit our keeper twice in that game and even had the courage to reply to him once he told him to piss off.
Everytime I watch you guys play it's the same story. Obviously the "old guys" have a game plan and stick to it. Of course you have a few good players, but it's the ethics that shock me.

Next year maybe I'll take a camera to the game. 5 yellow card? In the game when you beat us 4-3 if your memory doesn't fail the ref didn't show up and a 90 y.o. ref's assessor stepped in with no cards in his pocket. Otherwise you would have finished the game with about 4 players. Number 11 - always him - dropped one of the nastiest tackles I've ever seen in my career. Our LB had to come off, and he was let off without a word.

At the end of the day we both can sit here and talk all we like. But we both know the truth.

I've played Olympic 4 times over the last 3 seasons in capital 2 with one more game to go this season and i think you are blowing it a bit out of proportion.  They are a bunch of good old bastards that like to push and shove when they can but thats just the game and they are not the only team in capital 2 that are like that but they are not as dirty as you are suggesting. It is a bit easier in Capital 2 to get away with that kind of stuff as the refs are usually of a poor quality or just starting off.

I really enjoy Div 2. Strong competitive football without the high stakes of prem or div 1. I think it's why it's a good place to start refs off, as it's a good level with enough competitive edge to gauge whether a ref is capable of handling higher leagues or not.

One of my most enjoyable experiences as a ref to date was that particular Olympic team at North Wellington 2 seasons ago. A really good spirited but competitive game, that everybody came off at the end having enjoyed a good 90mins football.

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

I certainly had  a chuckle whem my mate told me his tawa team drew with Olympic.

Fair dues to the Olympic boys. The wharfies dreamers team has proved for the last couple of years that the national league skill and experience more than makes up for a couple of yards less in pace

Maybe you just need to give some back. Throw in some good hard tackles and you will be sweet. They will eventually start giving each other jip and fall apart...trust me, having played for the greeks I have seen it first hand many times

Of course the Greeks and some of you anal people have had a lot to comment on. I give it and take it. Dislocated my shoulder twice this year and still playing with a broken finger and not a whinge.
My comment was purely about the style of play.
