Just as a comparator, Team Naki have beaten Havelock 9-1  and 5-0 this season (Second in the league). Based on that, they would at least be as good as Upper Hutt. That's a whole league below, although I suspect Upper Hutt would beat a few Cap Prem sides (they beat Brooklyn in the Cup).

Team Taranaki now have to get through three games within the top four before they play a promotion game for a spot in the Central League.

Geez your playoffs and promotion relegation is difficult for an outsider to comprehend. Can someone please remind me again how it works and what the decision on TT is all about. Ta

Team Naki is a "representative team". It's not an ordinary club. So Central League have to approve its entry.

The bottom team in Central League gets relegated.

The top team in Capital Premier (currently Waterside Karori) play off against the top team in the Central Federation. Currently that's Team Naki.

That's the basic idea anyway.

Not sure what happens if Team Naki are rejected by the CL committee.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

2nd place (currently Havelock) would play off with Karori

been reading this thread with some interest - and I will admit to not knowing all the rules but can someone who has knowledge of both North Force/Northland FC and Team Taranaki explain what the differences are?  It seems to me to be pretty similar?

Team Gisborne was the same, they didn't enter Central Federation League this season because the administrators thought it was going to be too hard so Gisborne Thistle entered instead.

I didn't say they ever were. They intended to enter this season and it was part of their long term plan but it didn't happen for whatever reason so most they players joined Thistle and they entered instead, although their campaign didn't exactly go to plan...but at least they're a club!

yeah was just wondering the background of TG

They had been playing in the pacific premiership for a few years with the primary aim of providing a pathway/stepping stone for young players who may leave the region with intentions of playing higher. The majority of the players wanted to take the team higher but I think the administrators got a bit nervous at the prospect of going up into CF/CL where travel costs were going to be hugely challenging. Thistle bus to HB, Palmy, Wanganui and NP which can be tough but that's life in Gizzy. Ten years ago when I played CFL for Thistle we were lucky enough to have sponsorship that covered flights to Wanganui and NP, looking back I now realise how lucky we were. Anyway, the TG model was theoretically able to get more community support than a stand alone club which is why I can sympathise with the regional rep team idea but I can also see it from the other side. I also think it's important that the smaller regions compete at the highest level they can so talent from those regions have a pathway. It's hard enough for kids who live in the more isolated areas to be noticed as it is.

Miramar involved in another dramatic match stealing the 3 points late in Napier. Rovers had a man sent, shortly followed by the coach. Mar had a Peno saved, Harris the taker but he redeemed himself with the winner a few minutes before the final whistle.

good result for Olympic - now 5 points clear, Napier do have a game in hand though - but if they win that Olympic still 2 points clear

bottom of the table looking interesting as well Petone only 3 points behind PN Marist and they are still to play each other twice

Man sent about 5.50mins in, hard to tell from camera angle but appears went in with studs up. No video of coach getting sent but penalty is at 8.50mins in and its a damn good save.

He should really get bonus weeks off for slagging the ref in the press. Whether right or wrong. That grates me in particular because refs don't get any right of reply.

"It was a big game for us and we've turned it on so we can't ask for any more but, unfortunately, the referee has had a bigger impact in the game than we'd like him to have."

yet no comment on the keeper's mistake for the first goal.

That's a pretty clear red lunging in with the studs up like that.

Other than cringing at the quote above about a 'good foul' , my favourite bit from the article was this gem "I was frustrated from the decision a minute or two before that, I guess, but I was talking in a civil manner and he asked me sit down and then I don't know why he sent me off," Greatholder said after finding a perch on the balcony of the main grandstand."

Anyone else not buying that?

Finished 3-0. Will be keeping an eye on this thread over the next few days. Olympic fans not at all happy with the ref.
