Watched the game from the grandstand without my glasses - looked like a yellow card to me then.

Watched the game on Youtube with my glasses on - opinion hasn't changed.

Referee was a lot closer as well.   Thought John had a good game overall, although I can't figure the modern referees and all the little lectures and gestures to players - guess I am not as PC as I should be.

Man management technique. Let players know what they are doing will get them a yellow card soon - and then when they do it again there can't really be any complaints when the yellow does come out.

Miramar were outplayed by a better team on the day, best I've ever seen the Weenix United play

Pretty feisty game, - proper old school Miramar - Wellington United derby several yellow cards and Justin Gulley was sent off for United (2 bookable offences) with about 15 to go

Will have a report up on my site on monday

Also Stop Out beat PN Marist 3-2 (not 3-1 as above)

and Petone - Lower Hutt City was 1-1

Olympic all over Wests- Wests were poor 2nd half . Should of been 5-1. What a joke that Wests half 12 players going to the U20 training camp .

why is that a joke?

It's great for the 12 players from Wests , but where is the invite for players like Dillon wood , Jacob massor from Olympic. There names have been put forward. They have been outstanding this year. No invite for them, it seems it's who you know.

Jacob is still probably 16 and has played more college football than anything. U20s? Not yet

Wouldn't call Miramar a bunch of kids

Just thought there was a bit more intensity than I've seen Weenix United play with before and reminded me of what those games used to be like

was referring to the kids of the nix academy. Nothing at all comparable to when Utd actually has a club identity.

and just like that the central league race got very interesting again. 4 teams within 3 points, and Wests 6 points behind in 5th.

Rumour has it that Ryan Tinsley invited a player from the opposition to join him in the car park after the game this afternoon, maybe he's heard about team wellington's trip to Christchurch last season and is trying to impress Matt Calcott

Colour me shocked.

Nice, docile, quiet Ryan - I don't believe it!!

Haven't been on here for months.

Remember why now.

Greene,  you are a disillusioned try hard Muppet who appears to try and gain strength from mocking other clubs to make up for your own clubs lack of progress.

I sincerely hope this season your club can get past the playoffs, but I wouldn't expect the relationship with CL will last long. Especially if strung out chip shoulder laden idiots like you influence anything.

Lol

I used to play for Utd when I was 17. Played some thirds, seconds, and got a run with National League. I don't remember you being around then???

The Nix have taken over the firsts and we have played your Resies twice this year with the team I coach and they are a shambles for a once proud club. Sort your own shark out and don't lecture me.

Closely fought, Wests probably edged it but 2nd goal was the last kick of the match.  Not an entertaining match, but absorbing due to the quality of young player on display.  Best on pitch IMO was Wests number 11.  Young kid whose name I can't remember but was into everything, not afraid of a tackle, good decisions with his passing, really quality performance

Highlight of the match was without doubt Declan Edge being a first class pillock.  Had a pop at the Nix staff for not getting 15 minutes on the pitch to warm up prior to kick-off (there was a WCL match on before their match).  Blaming Nix for Capital Footballs scheduling and Wellington City Councils facilities.  Made himself look like a complete prat.  Quoting regulations (the 15 mins thing) which don't actually exist to people who have no control over these things.  I can't stand the guy and this just confirms why

It wasn't a spectacular game , both teams losing possession easily. Wests were probably the better team. Olympic , wairapa game was a cracker , Olympic were the better team and deserved to win the game .

But if you were going to complain about it, you'd do that to WCC or Cap Football, not randoms who aren't involved with your match

Olympic v rapa was a good game but wouldn't describe it as a cracker, but agree Olympic were the better team, they should have scored a couple of more goals but strikers will be strikers and go for the goal themselves rather than lay it off to others that are in better positions to score

PNM's win in the weekend almost certainly guarantees their survival in for another season. Petone effectively 7 points behind.

Petone would need to beat PNM twice, and also get a result from one of their remaining 4 games against Olympic, Wairarapa, Wests, & Miramar.

As evidenced by Upper Hutt beating the second placed Havelock North Wanderers side 5 - 1 in the Chatham Cup

Just as a comparator, Team Naki have beaten Havelock 9-1 and 5-0 this season. Based on that, they would at least be as good as Upper Hutt. That's a whole league below, although I suspect Upper Hutt would beat a few Cap Prem sides (they beat Brooklyn in the Cup).
