He seems to think it’s a pro contract where he’ll get paid enough to live on. Hmm.

Allegedly

They were advertising for someone in the Junior space so wonder if he's doing that and playing maybe

He's going to be in with a shock when he realises it's not the A league and that everyone in the league has a day job

Looked him up, he's got a massive following on Youtube and documents his life as a "professional" footballer. Hence the OTT signing video. This would have been created by him, not Wharfies.

Apparently Team Naki have pulled out. Not sure who will replace them.

If there is a lack of player interest then surely the purpose of the rep side is null and void

Team Taranaki Announcement

Central League Status

This morning (March 1, 2018) Team Taranaki Board member Nathan Hill informed both Capital Football and Central Football that the province would not be represented in the 2018 Central League.

He wrote that at the Annual General Meeting of Team Taranaki, held in New Plymouth last night, “a collective decision was taken… to withdraw from the 2018 Central League competition due to a chronic player shortage…”

He said it was not viable to enter a team at Central League level.

The Board had exhausted all available possibilities to address the player shortage issue but a solution was unattainable.

“This is an extremely disappointing outcome for both Team Taranaki and the wider Taranaki football community. Despite the obvious disappointment from all of those involved, the Board believes it has made the correct decision both in the circumstances outlined and in the best interest of the organisation,” he wrote.

At last night’s meeting Head Coach Ian McGrath said “it pains me, but we have genuinely exhausted all the options. We are currently 10 players short and we are four weeks away from the start of the season. The player pool available in Taranaki simply isn’t deep enough to support a team playing at Central League level and with seven key experienced local players unavailable this season due to a combination of work and personal commitments, retirement and injury it has proved impossible to replace them.”

Team Taranaki would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved for their considerable effort and positive contributions in difficult circumstances.

Team Taranaki will release a statement to media after individual clubs who have supported the combined team concept are informed.

I'm sad to hear that. I enjoy having the Central League have teams from all over the region

probably not formally - remember TT was a rep team so they need to contact all the clubs in NP that are involved

Still pretty funny saying a statement will be released at the end of a statement released on facebook which can be seen by everyone!

When you say senior players you mean Corrales and Basalaj??One didn't want to run and wanted to fight with spectators and one didn't want to train.

My understanding is that both weren't asked back

I don’t know the intricacies of the league well enough; but am i correct in assuming this weakens the overall quality of CL?

How many goals did Karori win the play off by?

Gutted to hear this as it was good to get to several of their home games last season. Proved to be more than competitive in a challenging league.

Pretty difficult to bring 10 different football clubs (and school teams) together and make it work though, especially when clubs are still competing in their own right around the region in our local leagues.

When will Cap Football finally fix their website so we can see the clearances page and start gossiping about player movements?

they won't as they are all using this my comet system now, no idea if we'll be able to see things like transfers

OK they seem to have it sorted

http://www.capitalfootball.org.nz/comps-1/player-c...

when you get to this page click the date and it launches a pdf doc with the latest transfers - better than last years as it has birthdates on it so you can work out which ones are juniors or seniors

nothing really interesting as of yet, just Louis Fenton to Melbourne and Erik Panzer to Wests but those are already know, more interesting stuff for the W-League, but I'll put it on that thread

Given NCR's struggles last season will it be the relegation battle?

I'm surprised at the lack of news/speculation on this thread given the fact that we're less than a month away from the start of the season.

I remember from my playing days, this thread would be lit from January onwards!

Well there's a big pre-season friendly coming up this Sunday at Ole with Wests taking on newly promoted Karori. The Wests side are currently younger than last year's team while Karori have lost their best player so it should be intriguing. I'm picking Wests to edge it.

How's that NZP?

I think local league rivalry peaked during the Park Life/Feverish era and has kind of slid since then. Feverish moving on to lower divisions and settling down with the Mrs has removed a primary antagonist.

just read the story about Wairarapa from this site's front page. That's a hassle alright. Hope it gets sorted.

Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Central League regulations are up for 2018 http://www.sporty.co.nz/asset/downloadasset?id=566...

This has been added after TT pulled out this season

5.8. If a team withdraws from the Central League after accepting their place but prior to the season starting, the vacant spot will be offered as follows:

i) The losing team from the end of season play off

ii) The relegated team from the previous season

iii) If none of these scenarios are possible the spot will then be filled at the Managers discretion.

Also include all new information with team cards and Comet.

6. Teamcards

6.1. Teams must have their match day squad lists in Comet by 12.00pm on the Friday prior to the game (unless otherwise communicated by the Manager)

6.2. Teams may make alterations to these lists up to 1 hour prior to kick off.

6.3. Within 1 hour of kick off any changes must be communicated to the referee

6.4. The referee will be responsible for loading all match information, including score, goal scorers and yellow and red cards.

6.5. If there are any disputes with what is loaded in to Comet in relation to a match information, these need to be communicated to the Manager within 48 hours of completion of game. After this point no changes can be made to the match information sheet.

Also like these two additions

8.6. Reported written abusive or critical comments against a Match Official contained in any official Club Match Programme or publication, in the media, on any form of Social Media or on a Club’s web page will incur an automatic fine of $250.00 on the offending Club. Repeated occurrences during the current season involving the same Club will result in the fine being doubled. The report of any alleged breach of this Regulation must be sent in the first instance to The Manager for action.

14.7. All home teams must operate a Twitter account and provide a minimum of half time and full-time scores for every home game.

Wait so does that refer to the club itself or any member of that club? So if I posted something on my personal FB page slagging off a ref and it somebody reported it CF, my club would be fined??

Wasn't there a case few seasons back like that where someone got in trouble for a post about a ref online. A player can't still be brought up on it but club maybe not fined
