2-0 at FT

More claret, more cards- great fun

Olympic looked classier but couldn't find the net-

Miramar keeper had a great game too

Classiest player was Darren Cherrington (?) think thats who it was anyway

Always entertaining to say the least.

Miramar deserved of the win.
We both had our equal share of chances and those who put them away take the spoils.

Its only called a friendly because theres so many casualties.

Untill next time...

I second that.

Mikey darted into the box and while having his shirt pulled and trying to break free was called for shirt fulling himself i belive. Hmmm.

Who was the referee? did he/she pull the shirt and cause the farcas?  We all know attacking players grabs shirts as much as defenders do! olympic v miramar always has abit of feeling and so should, the game needs more passion. Why do we always seems to blame the ref? some players need to take a good look at themselves.

The Ref had no Idea at all for both teams.Missed some really bad tackles and then there were cads for nothing at all but a nudge.General consensus from everyone at the ground.

Plus i agree Ref did have a shocker but i guess he was consistant...consistantly bad.

Only got there for the second half but it was a good match.  No sign of Stu Jacobs so it's pretty clear Matt Calcott will be the man with the clipboard again this season.

New signing (and 3rd string NZ U20 goalkeeper no less) Roddy Brown dominated the hole between Phil Patterson and what passed for Lower Hutt's midfield - scoring a 20 yard scorcher and another and putting on some superb passes.

For Lower Hutt there were two points of note.  One was Rodney Mays playing up front.  The other was talented young right back Taylor Hall-Jones who had not a bad game against some pretty high calibre opposition (including marking his school coach Jon Harahap for a bit).  He was a bit all over the place but, at 15, is an exciting prospect.  He scored Lower Hutt's goal too.

Final: Wests 4 - 1 Lower Hutt (I believe...although, as mentioned, I missed the first half).

what happened to the "Lower Hutt aren't going to concede many this season"?

Theory rather than fact going by tonight.

Suspect it was far from a first string line up for Lower Hutt though.  It certainly wasn't for Wests.

I thought it was 3 - 1.

A few guys missing that will take the field on 5th April for Lower Hutt. West also had a number of youngesters playing. I wouldnt take to much from that result as its just pre season and alot of 1st teamers didnt play the full game.

Gonna be interesting to see how Wests/ Lower Hutt/ Miramar cope for the first few weeks without their TW players.

Yes I have heard the same about this Taylor kid as well...will be interesting to see if he gets more game time at either reserve level or maybe further...
