Didnt see the game, why was the penalty dodgy?

Well when your standing directly in line with the player in question and they said it was hand ball, when the ball was smashed at him and put his arm up to jump and hits him in the shoulder it's pretty dodgy to give a penalty in that situation
Sounds dodgy than. Thats the 5th different version Ive heard from 5 different people though. The only one that thought it was a penalty was a Lower Hutt player, go figure.

just read in Doom post about Jake the snake getting hit with a 7 week ban. Last paragraph says that maximum is 1 year for a headbut - how does that relate to the 8 week maximum being talked up?
I had a similar thing happen to me a while back. Got taken out and walked up to the oppo who suddenly grapped his head and snipered himself to the ground. I got sent off for headbutting - got a two week ban from memory. The dude to who did it is a mate and fellow Wharfie now - so we can laugh about it now - but at the time is pissed me off. Great play acting though.

Adding to Marist coach Steve Green's woes was his discovery that the relegation playoffs have been done away with.

"I said to the Petone coach after the game that at worst we'll have the playoffs to stay in the central league," Green said. "That's when he informed me there are no playoffs and the bottom side gets relegated."

Green said after searching the Capital Football website, he found there had been a couple of changes to the competition. "It's disappointing to find out the way I did and halfway through the season. I'll be checking to see if our club has been informed or not."

Fail. Pretty sure it was decided in February.

his is exactly the kind of attitude that automatic relegation was brought in to deal with "oh well we are sh*t this year and are gonna come last - so we will just fllag the league and concentrate on the play off games and make sure we win them" (that wasnt at actual quote )

petone 4 olympic 3 , olympic up 3-1 at the half petone comes back a double to whalen, goal each to whitmarsh and jono blair. barry lewis got a second yellow for a late tackle but was reversed because apparently it didn't count because the player was offside. must remember to absolutely kill the next player thats offside of the ball in the next game seeing its obviously legal to do so.

I guess if the card was for the situation of the foul not the actual foul then fair enough call. Otherwise it opitimises Wellington refs. Great result and comeback for Petone though.

Its no longer a problem.

Yeah but neither Lewis or the ref were facing the assistant and I can tell you now that Lewis definitely wasn't appealing for an offside haha

Having spoken to the AR after the game she said that Richie had come back from an offside position so the ball was technically dead hence the foul, that wasn't much of a foul, was reversed. Had I two footed him or something crazy then it would have likely been a different story.
Am definitely a lucky man thats for sure but if you're going to book players for committing little fouls like that then you need to be consistent throughout the game so everyone knows where things are at.

Chops, I also spoke with the AR after the game, she didn't say anything about the ball being "dead". Just let the ref know that the offside happened before the foul. ......... I also heard you tell all the people on the balcony you were going to buy her a bottle of wine, did you make good on the deal?

Depends. If the tackle comes after the whistle, he can still be cautioned/sent off as an act of kicking an opponent. If it was a handball after the whistle well then obviously then that doesn't count. In this case, if the whistle goes for offside and he smashes someone, then you take the offside and the shown yellow to Chopper so the ref was wrong. Its no different if the ball goes out for a throw in and I come and wallop you. Take the throw in and I get tossed for the punch.

Grumpy old bastard alert

Jesus the way we are carrying on about it, anyone would think I put a Siggy/Kruse tackle on him. I committed two fouls in the game yet a certain paleyer from Petone committed several more and was only booked once.
I've got no problem with refs dishing out cards but be consistent.

Yes Chops-but was your foul violent conduct or just a regular late tackle/foul? I wasn't there so couldn't see - but it makes a huge difference - the number of fouls you made in a game just doesn't matter one little bit mate - sheesh you know that

It was a simple body check on the side line. Just like the numerous little fouls that went on that day and in games. No violent conduct from me - I'm a clean player these days

Its, an absolute joke, George is better than the 15-20 year olds the coach thinks can win the central league, clearly no team based around 15-20 year olds could win the league. Considering these guys are barely up to the central league standard. Coach needs to go 4 seasons no trophies. George being one of the top players in the team, I hear that he was told he didn't make the standard of central league by the coach and that he wasn't wanted in the team.

Lolz....Joke of a post more like

GB may well be better than the 15-20 yr olds. Maybe the coach couldn't wait any longer for him to start hitting his known potential. Quite a difference to your misinformation. So a coach with a group of 15-20 yr old makes a call like that, certainly has bigger gonads than someone slagging him off anonomously with a keyboard. I know who's judgement I'd want in charge.

You'll probably be on here next signing season slagging off players for taking the piss and $ out of clubs or vice versa.

Wish there was a 'hand shandy' smilie

Fair call K ruption,

all i ask is are u sure?

a big pair of gonads is indeed a good shout, but it takes an even bigger pair of gonads to walk away after a dynasty of non achievement and no trophies in the cabinet.
yes I agree footy shouldnt always be about winning and there needs an emphasis to be based on youth development, please enlighten me the youth that has developed under the gonad regime, and stayed at the club and speak highly of the club and done well?

Georgie B is pure quality and we all know you dont become a bad player over night, something has got to be said about the coaching, maybe george doesnt appreciate the abusive language excreted from gonad man?

Yep I'm sure

Not really close enough to know the players or their intentions long term. I see the Watson lad came from nowhere to the 20's? Maybe the test would be if Gonad man went how many would follow. Does LH have enough pokies to bring in 6-8 players of guarenteed title winning standard (That would be the expectation or whats the point?)

However...trophies.

2001 the last one I think. Can't remember when they last won the Chatam. So 2001 to Gonad man in 2007 is six years in my book.

Given what they spunked on the Pattersons Mays Peds and co then etc etc can you tell me what they got back for that in terms of silverware? Whats chequebook man gonna gurantee to win then?

GB didn't become a bad player, just didn't impact to the level he can. Perhaps economics came into the equation? They left it there with no animosity I was told. I don't think GB would appreciate you saying he can't take raised voices.

I'd swear myself but better not eh?

What is needed

Patience for youth and the right players brought in as opposed to the 'best'  Many EPL coaches haven't cracked that one yet

What isn't need

A 20k per year marketing consult/admin 'person'

(Just the one brilliant will do)
