KCU to have somebody sent off after 10 minutes and Tawa to be 4 up at half time before running away with it 6-0. Jason Pine to score a header at 5-0 with 5 to go.

Well, for a bit of a giggle I've gone back in time and looked at who picked well and who was talking sh*t or smack at the start of the season.

yes but you support the scousers so you would pic tawa. Just like the pool they will be there but they are not good enough to win it. no offence to russ, stevie and the boys but they have been nothing but close for the last 3 years and it will be the same this year!
Well done Liverpool1 for winning that one.  NvH, you blew out but then I picked you early on to be playing for Upper Hutt so I can't really talk.

Speaking of Upper Hutt...

Upper Hutt will be pushing the grade this year. Be in the top 3 with Tawa and Island Bay.

Not so much.

Also not so much, this quote from someone who we think is probably the man in charge of the Peter Halstead Crew:
wharfies gonna take it this year tawa will choke

Unfortunately for him, pretty much back to front.

Monkeyboy was optimistic even very early on, despite suggestions that Naenae were in trouble:
we won't get demoted, our game yesterday against Tawa more than proved that

Possible that he'll still be proved right of course, depending on how things go.

And from the "some things never change" files, this gem from early April:
Island Bay did have an injury to Jamie Milne after 3 minutes and Dave Ruthorford sent off after 10.

And that'll do for now...should probably do some work.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Only because it was moved to Number two.  You and Keiichi would have drowned in the wicket block on Naenae one.

Agreed, very annoyed about our advantage of Naenae No 1 not being able to be used!

Stop Out 7 (I think) Naenae 0.

Man of the match: Karl Papp. Last time I saw Karl play was when we were at school.....
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

In the old central league, yes.

Tawa was also in a pretty high league back in the mid 90's I think it was.  I can't remember what the league was exactly but it involved teams like Miramar, Manawatu, Napier and I'm sure some other teams which are outside the current central league structure (perhaps Waikato).  Tawa had to play their home games at Centennial Park as there were high standards for the grounds.  This league only went for a season or two though. I think it was after the demise of national league and there were 3 top nz leagues, the northern one, the central one and south island one.

Stop Out 1 Wharfies 2.
We missed chances we lost.

Puzzled about how some players think that throwing in RECKLESS tackles that make no contact are OK...

Wharfies first featured and good turn the beating of two players (including a nutmeg) and a good cross by....
Today's crowd included...

These show the noisy bit after one of those tackles mentioned...
