In Christchurch, there is a reserve league (which seemed to use to be here, but is being flagged). And stacking isn't an issue there, because it's a league totally removed from everything else. But it is still competitive because the players in it are wanting to play in the Mainland League. Not every team gets to have a team in the reserve league, just the top mainland league teams, plus two others to cover the Nelson teams (who are the best from the rest, in fact one of the teams are near winning it)
So a reserve league in Welly would have... Miramar, Petone, Lower Hutt, Olympic, Western, Wellington United and Stop Out (even if they get relegated, still have a team in reserve league out of respect for being in Central league last year. And then either 1 or 3 reserves teams from Champs Premier teams.
Sure not perfect, but it'd get rid of stacking... in theory

RIght, so far I think there are three broad options identified for deterring "stacking":

I think better regs around dropping players is the answer
Normo's coming home
Its no longer a problem.
Contrary to our earlier posting on this site Wairarapa United have NOT won the Champs Premier League. Tawa have a number of games in hand and could still overhaul Wairarapa. Our apologies for the slip-up.

Now why couldn't we all just have left Wairarapa thinking they had already won the league so that they took their next 2 games easy??...I have nothing against them winning it....but seeing as we now them twice in a row it would have been nice....
I'm sure they would have taken Capital Football's word for itdangerous, they were very luck to have only one person sent off.
). Also it'll be a potential bugger for us in the 2nds as we are 2nd by a point from The Dreamers with 5 games to play, and can potentially make a playoff for promotion to Cap 1...so could be a double whammy if dodgy stacking continues and the Marist lads go down...will also have to put up with Bri bleating at training...don't know what is worse actually... Their 3-0 win over Lower Hutt City at Howard Booth Park on Saturday didn't guarantee Wairarapa United the Capital premier division title but it's certainly put the pressure on the only team who can deprive them of that honour, Tawa.
With their latest game against Waterside-Karori cancelled because of poor ground conditions Tawa were left on 26pts with four matches to play while Wairarapa United climbed to 34 pts with two matches to play, both of them against Marist, who sit second to bottom on the points table.
What this means is that if Wairarapa United beat Marist twice, or even manage a win and a draw, they are home and hosed while Tawa must win all of their last four games and depend on Wairarapa United tripping up at the last two hurdles.
It's a situation which pleases Wairarapa United coach Phil Keinzley but, at the same time, he is still taking nothing for granted."Obviously we have the inside running right now but they (Tawa) are a very good side and we can't count them out," he said.
"The focus for us has to be on two more wins, we can't be headed if we do that."
Two goals in the first 20 minutes, the first of them a 30m "rocket" from Sakeo Valevou and the second a similar effort from Carl Shailer, were an early boost to confidence for Wairarapa United against Lower Hutt City although coach Keinzley was not over impressed with their first half performance.
"We looked a bit tired at nervous at times, there wasn't quite the enthusiasm we wanted," he said.
The second half display, however, saw greater control and direction and while a goal to Aaron Spierling was the only scoring action of that spell Wairarapa United created a number of scoring chances.
Substitute Kota Maeno set up many of these when he came off the reserve bench and made a huge impact on attack while others to shine were midfielders Miriek Tvaroh and Pita Rabo.

Hold on is their maths skills dodgy Im sure that if Tawa win all their games they finish on 38 points, that means Wairarapa have to win both their last games to secure the title. A win and a draw will come down to goal difference, surely?

)Naw, Mike didn't even make it out to Kapiti unfortunately....
your coach made it on to the bench though
Well you could do us a big favour by beating LH in a couple of weeks...and doing the same to Wests would be quite nice as well....
big game this week, LH vs the mar.... a LH win might do quite nicely for us though...and hopefully we can add some excitement to the title race with a win over the Rapa
And yes, obviously we would be disappointed, and possibly even a bit angry if we got relegated....but, umm....who wouldnt be? I'm always disappointed and angry when I lose, I can't see relegation as a fun thing.
I don't imagine a trip to CF headquarters happening,

You're right, it would come down to goal difference, however Tawa are at +11 and the Rapa are at +26 (which would improve if they won 1 drew 1), Tawa would need to win their last 4 games by an average of 4 or more a game (they currently average scoring just over 2 goals a game).
So certainly not mathematically impossible, but difficult
