Mikey's red card was harsh, was off the ground but hardly was aggressive, more just left his foot in the way, tough red that early in the game when the referee didn't stop and think about it at all but the penalties were dead set but Olympic should've seen that game out!

Olympic had that goal ruled out for offside too...Looked like such a dodgy call.

Only doubt for me was whether there was a touch at the flick on header or not. If the ball was flicked on by an attacker, if was definitely offside.

Yep agreed. I was behind the goal and it looked like he didn't touch it. Oh well, I'm not an Olympic fan so am not really worried!

Napier goalie flapped at two goals too. Was surprised at how bad he was

Dunedin Tech v Mangere United

Cashmere Tech v Eastern Suburbs

Birkenhead United v Central

Western Suburbs v Napier

We have a National competition now, though Central only has to travel across town.

Haha, yip though you know it is legitimate drawing. There was outsiders at the draw, just really good luck to have a local game against a NRFL Div1 club

Don't worry, they're bound to field one of their ineligible foreigners soon and lose 0-3 on appeal.

Not forgetting their last 3 games were at Kiwitea, but suspect that Birkenhead was prob the one team they didn't want to get away...

Heard NCR were playing well. They would have been the team I would have wanted to avoid playing away.

That will be a tasty clash that one in Wellington.

I would say they're a tall and quite efficient team.

They couldn't have gone closer to losing against an Olympic side that were 10 men for 70 mins.

Thought their 9 (Kilkolly) looked handy, who was cut from the U20's.

It's a job well done lads and thanks for the YellowFever for getting the details out to the masses.

Four hours since we got to know the draw on here and still nothing of the outcome on the great powers of football in this country the one and only NZF[website.

Not a surprise that is it, this week they are too busy trying to clean their collective bums.

If he attempts to play the ball in an offside postion he is offside.

That is not necessarily correct. Could be in a few instances, but certainly not in all of them.

Except when they say it's live but it's not, which while it's not a rigging its not very transparent either

In the past they use hot balls in the draw which represents which teams they want to have home games

Not surprising, its the same lack of integrity  that has got NZF into the current predicament with the  Olympic qualifiers.

Linney at his usual controversial best again...if he's considered one of the top refs in the Wellington region then I'm the Pope. The guys a joke, loves to be centre of attention out on the park.

Yeah Linney is a good referee otherwise he wouldn't keep getting these games and be doing some of the ASB Premiership games. So others think he is doing ok, think you might be the one who has the problem!

I'm guessing that Scousemouse was an '86 class number 10, reminiscent of Maradona with the genius of a '76 Jimmy Page and the manliness of Sean Connery in From Russia With Love - Roy of the Rovers couldn't carry his crisp packet for all he was worth. He played the entire game out in his head before he had dinner the night before which was then executed to perfection - inch perfect passes to everyone across the park, the croud were hanging off every touch and after he came back on with a bandaged head after being 2 footed across the brow, scored a perfect hat trick. In the after match, he took no credit and deflected it to the ladies whom made the sandwiches, whom understand 'what real toil is about'...

Linney actually had a good game the red card was a 50/50 call, i did think it was harsh at first but I suppose it shouldnt matter what minute of the game it is in. he is a good ref considering the standard of some other referees given top game to do!

This weekend's Cup clash of Premier teams Birkenhead and Central promises to be good spectacle for the neutral.

Hopefully the Auckland weather will settle and Shepherds Park will get a big croud - especially since this is the only Quarter-Final clash to be played in Auckland.

Birko definitely have something to prove after last year's exit at the hands of 10 man Central.

The TAB have some really good odds on the Chat Cup this weekend.

I put on a multi for all four games, but forgot to click %age bet and absent mindedly put on an epic $60 bet. Be sweet if it comes off!
