Three minutes injury. Free kick Kings right on the edge of the area to deal with for bubbles.

Nothing from it. del Monte again collapses, in the area this time and three Bubbles players tell him stop pansying around and to get up.

Really? Tbh it was pretty awful. Apart from the goals how many shots were on target, or even on goal? Both sides were rather poor on attack. Atmosphere was good both sets of fans made lots of noise.
Well done Olympic though you deserved it.
PS: Keeper looked extraordinary, wish i coulda stolen that shirt off him after the match.
Three for me, and two for them.

You would have to be from Wellington, to think that was a penalty. oh wait, the ref was, wasn't he? Crap way to lose a final.

When he's back on here later in the week you can ask him for it, although I doubt he'd share.

What are you suggesting?
Next you will be suggesting he's Greek or something? He's not but he did play for Olympic before taking up the whistle

I was just waiting to get home to post this. What an absolute joke, how can you have a ref for the chatham cup final that used to play for the Greeks and works for Capital Football or whatever Jamie does for Wellington football. Jamie is a good guy and I'm not trying to say anything bad about the guy but surely for the Chatham Cup final you would try and get some kind of neutral ref (or at least a ref that hasn't played for one of teams).
Three Kings appeal and replay the match haha

yes really- good to see it on tv, not sure last time i saw a chatrm cup game on tv
actually i only saw first half and end of 2nd, first half was enthralling- commentators sadi 2nd half was less intense.
TKU's goal was simply stunning, what a back heel

I actually agree with Buffon, both teams were pretty average. At the end of the day I think Olympic wanted it just that little bit more though. Alot of lazy players on TKU side that didn't seem interested in the game. For all Del Montes pansying around, I did think he was one of the stand out players though, very skillful and good vision. Raf looked very calm during the game, probably kept Olympic running in the middle, George a bit too involved with Del Monte to have much influence.

Olympic looked tired. i agree with that

Olympic were slightly better. TKU couldnt seem to hold onto the ball. Just hoped to turn it over and for del monte do pull out some magic. Olympic werent a lot better but were more constructive and put more pressure on the TKU box. Raf was good esp in first half.
That was an incredibly soft pen. Very tough on TKU to lose it that way even if they were second best.
To be fair though Marius, TKU got a lot of luck to knock Miramar out. Miramar dominated the match but TKU got the rub of the green. Today the luck went against them - that's the beauty of cup football
Permalink
even if the pen was a bit harsh, Olympic deserved the win
Permalink
What I'm suggesting is that there is no way that was a penalty. Didn't look like it at the ground, the lino didn't flag it, Olympic didn't appeal for it. And when you watch it on slo-mo on tv( a few times!) the decision is even worse. It's just crap when the ref can influence the result to that extent.
get over it mate, good on olympic. Yeah it wasnt a penalty but the ref decided it was so stop moaning

Mate that was a penalty. I'd ask why the defender was so stupid to make a dumb tackle like that in there. Tha game was an ordinary watch but I would have loved to have been one the Olympic players and just kicked sh*t out of Del Monte for his BS and floppin. Stu Hogg is a punk and always have been. I do feel for the young fella that went off after 10 or so. Hell of a way to end your day.
As for the ref, so he used to play for Olympic and works for Capital. So what. Are you suggesting some match fixing conspiracy? This is NZ ffs and if thats the next cab off the rank well he is obviously there for a reason. I wouldn't put him on an A-League game but he certainly did a decent effort in keeping the cards in the pocket and letting the game just flow on. If it was the other chap Hester (who was rubbish last A-League game) you've be whinging of an Auckland conspiracy. Didn't see anyone say that last year when ECB won the cup over Dunedin... Whose after that? The lanky git from PN? No thanks.

" so he used to play for Olympic and works for Capital" umm you i'm sorry i know i'm a new poster but u can't really have someone who is going to ref a key game as a chatham cup finalist especially if he's played for one of the sides before.
Jeff Vader, it was not a penalty. maybe they could have socred a "real goal" but that was not a penalty kick i was sitting in the stands as a neutral. the defender didn't even have a chance to make a challenge at the ball...i think u are a bias supporter of olympic which i cannot hate at all but the ref was all wrong about the pk. olympic could have scored a goal during regular time and there would have been no doubts with me.
and when u say keeping card in his pocket. u were actually thinking that cards should have been spread out from both sides. mostly from the olympic side because most of them couldn't tackle at all. it's no conspiracy at all.. the ref. wanted to be a part of this match and definitely he is. that's no pen and if u were a neutral supporter u would have thought the same. the commentators of the game knew that it wasn't a pen either.

what an ocassion to be involved in. great day.!
very dissapointed that the biggest club innz barely had more fans than us but thats auckland for you!all the more reason the cup final should be held in welly!
thanks to all the supporters who made the trip up and to those who backed us on the forum

don't get it twisted. i thought olympic were worthy for the win. they were a talented team and de-gregorio (sp?) was a deserving of his man of the match award. i just hated that the ref basically decided the game

i agree the fer wasnt the best, but he was the best cab of the rank.
if you are from welly you will know that jamie x has a reputation for treating the greeks as bad as any team so he sure as sh*t wasnt on our side. as bad as you think the descion was if it had have been at the other end(and if the tku players hadnt thrown their arms up as if they had been shot every time they went down) he would have given it aswel

i would have thought the decision would have been unfair to either side if it wasn't really a penalty kick. my only problem was that the referee made himself a name of this chatham cup other than the people that should have been named like del-monte, de gregorio or maybe even sherard who had a decent game also

del Monte could easily have got two yellows for diving in the first 30 minutes and been gone, and the Chilean wasn't much better, and as for the penalty I can see how it could be given and how it could not be given. It's a fine line, but you've got a man on the ball who's beaten the defender who then shoulders the man and makes obvious contact.
Now, you could claim shoulder to shoulder but that's more when contesting for a not 'owned' ball, not when the ball is quite obviously in the possession of the attacking player.
As for the referees history, surely you want the highest ranked available official no matter what the background ?

On a somewhat unrelated note, your dive in the first half was absolutely hilarious. Best moment of the game as far as I'm concerned.

And I was never taking anything away from Olympic. Definately deserved to win the game in the end, even though they looked a bit on edge early on. I was just pointing out that the ref had played before for Olympic but not implying anything by it cause Jamie is definately not the person that would be biased. You wouldn't get to ref a Chatham Cup final otherwise

Interestingly in the Premiership over the weekend the EXACT SAME penalty was given. I forget who the two teams were but I'm sure if you watch the PL Review show you'll see it.
Defs a peno.
Olympic the better side too.
All we need to do now is win the NZFC and the transition of football's heart and mind to Wellington will be complete.
Well done you Bubbles.
