I need anyone who has any footage from the 2007 Chatham Cup Final (Wests v Central, went to pens) to contact me... there were highlights shown on SKY, possibly in the halftime of an A-League game or something, and I figured someone from Wellington may have it.

They play strong defence with what looks like lazy strikers but watch the sudden long ball and lazy gets going quick. Central that is and strong is physical and I V does no wrong in refs eyes.

Shame the weather forecast isn't looking great. After basically 3 weeks of non-stop rain it's been nice today, it's gonna be a stunner tomorrow, then average on Sat and....rain on Sunday.

This will definitely impact crowd numbers negatively - which is a shame.

I hope a 200Km/Hr Southerly sweeps most of the clouds away on Saturday night.

On the day, the Newtown Park clubrooms (including bar) are restricted to VIP and Guest access only.  However the WCC have been awesome to work with and we have been approved a licence to operate a drinks tent directly below the grandstand.  Any alcohol purchased from the drinks tent must be consumed in the Grandstand area only, unfortunately you cannot go for a wander around the 
park with your brewski.  ;-)

Softdrinks, water and hot drinks are on sale from 10:30am, alcohol starts from 12 pm to 5pm.  Mobile eftpos and cash options at the 
drinks tent, but would appreciate it if smaller denominations are used (ie. No $50, less $20 if poss) of course!

We are really happy to have worked an agreeable solution with the WCC, and would really appreciate everyones understanding with the regulations in place for the day.  We want to put on a safe and responsible show so the opportunity of another final at Newtown Park
in the future would be considered aye! 

The Grandstand has been assigned 40% alcohol free as well, for families, kids and others that prefer to watch without beer goggle commentary. :-)  Grandstand holds 900.

There will be 3 BBQS running, hot donuts and hot drinks also for sale inside the ground.

Is this to keep our leaders at arms length from us rank and file who give a toss and pay their wages? YES

I know I should be more than happy having the opportunity, while said leaders and hangers on are wined and dined in the warmth of Newtown's clubrooms, eating from one of three BBQs on offer. (At least someone outside NZF thought of us paying supporters) 

I for one was relishing the opportunity to give a little feedback re the running and organisation of this years Chatham Cup.

Again this year no TV coverage for one of this country's oldest sporting competitions. WHY?.........but I'm force fed 4th division grassroot rugby on Sky (money available here). I'd rather see NZF money spent on this our Chatham Cup than sending Riki business class and back to London just to sit on the bench with Emblam and Zoro.......as observer. Hmmmmmmm

Surprised football supporters haven't been more vocal regarding NZF and this years Chatham Cup.......or are we so immuned to this same old same old gravy train sh*te?

NZF have run the cup this way for many years not just this year. Just ask the winners over the past 4 to 5 years.

Below average?  Someone is spoilt me thinks...for a paddock that's had 50 games this year and a month of rain with 3 weeks notice of a cup final, it's a bit better than 'average'. ;-)

My comment has no reflection on the club who takes on game day management or the pitch. It is on how some dub down a prestigious and historic event in football history.

It sounds like the Central United supporters had their flight to Wellington cancelled at the last minute today so will be struggling to make it down in time for the game. Serves them right for booking on Jetstar.

So there is a bit of a gap between club football and National League football.  A bit tongue in cheek I know, because Central had some not quite National League players out there today.  But good on them 50 years and all.

Who thinks it's a good idea to park in a median strip anyway? Idiots.

Most United and Olympic home games have cars on the  Median. Our is it a flush traffic island between raised traffic islands

For your own safety, and the safety and convenience of other road users, there are certain areas where you must not park. You risk being fined and/or having your vehicle towed away if you park in these areas.

You must not park or stop your vehicle:

• on the right-hand side of the road, except in a one-way street
• where it will be in the way of other people using the road (including pedestrians)
