In the ODT football draws it has the Cavvy v Manakau game on Saturday.

Is this correct?

A check of NZ Football website still has them all being Sunday. But take that how you feel, not sure its reliabilty. Someone at Cavvy will know, I'd say the paper is probably more accurate

Given my game is on the Caley on Saturday and thats a long way from a cup quarter, I can say with 100% certainty that it's Sunday.

Predictions:

Birkenhead 2 - 1 Lower Hutt  aet

Central 3 - 1 Suburbs

Caversham 2 - 0 Manukau

Miramar 1 - 1 Dunedin Tech      Miramar win on penalties

Massey 4 -1 Claudelands in the Women's knockout cup semi.

Score pretty accurately reflects a rather one sided game, with Massey having the vast majority of chances, and allowing a late consolation goal near the end.  Massey keeper made a couple of good saves, and Claudelands had a 5-10 minute spell in the first half where they knocked it about and looked quite good, but there was only ever one side in it.

Some updates, all during the second half:

Mirimar up 3-1

Caversham 2-1

Lower Hutt 2-1

Central lead, unsure of score

Seems like major controversy! Mirimar cruising through, as are Central, and Manukau's keeper has broken his leg

Confirmed results:

Mirimar 5 Dunedin Tech 1

Lower Hutt 3 Birkenhead 2

Central 2 Eastern Suburbs 0

Manukau down 3-1, game delayed for a long time for the ambulance to arrive

Rant/suggestion: Not being anywhere near Welly to day I couldn't go to DF Park for the Miramar. Relied on a few texts from a friend.

Am in shock at I am told was the PITIFUL crowd that turned up. I have to ask what marketing did Miramar do for this match? Any ads on the radio or in the DomPost? I'd love to hear what was done ahead of kickoff....

why would a club side advertise a Chatham Cup quarter-final? Dreaming

I think I've seen more people at Dave Ferrington today for a Chatham Cup quarter final than I have several times at Team Wellington games (National League).

They also charge $5 and opened their bar before and after the game. I think they've done rather well financially.

Crowd wasn't too bad at Farrington Field today. As already posted, have seen less at TeeDubs game.

http://www.nzfootball.co.nz/index.php?id=963 Wondering why it says both Emi Tade and Hamish Watson missed penos but scored in the same minute of their missed penos. Does that mean saved then scored the follow up? What was the Birko coach sent for? Think I may have heard he's a bit animated on the sideline, could be wrong though. Three players on that scorers list stick out at the moment - Watson, Tade and Mason-Smith have all been smashing them in in recent weeks so they will be the ones to watch in the semis. I'm picking Miramar Central final if they don't draw each other in the semis. Central to win it.

Fuck this stupid game

Both scored follow ups.

Was upset after a last minute claim for a goal was waved away.

Cavvy vs Manakau..

Very good game in parts, Manakau battled hard but probably lacked the football players that Cavvy had. Pace was a noticable advantage to Cavvy at times.

Manakau had a very large backline and did get caught by the speed of Cavvy.

Felt for the Keeper, horrendeous break. Through ball, backline beaten and he had to come out, looked like a full speed 50/50 challenge.

Couple of apologies, The Cavvy supporters who were giving the keeper a "get up you pussy" when he broke his leg, someone gave them a serve, dont think they said anything more. Todays ODT article was wrong, Manakau wasnt out for revenge, they played with courage.

Wish the Keeper a speedy recovery and I hope he is able to return to football.

Of course he was animated. Robbed of a clear goal late on.

Hamish Watson is a beast of a player though.

Three for me, and two for them.

Great game lower hutt should have been at least 3 up at h.t( penaltly was so bad should have been the other way)

birko dominated  2 half numerous chance.lower hutt breakaway goal..watson was lower hutts star player.. birko got one back but linesman failed to see the ball hit the keepers drink bottle in the net unreal!

officials were so poor. coach was sent for  having a swear at the officials  dont blame him!!

great game though, pitch was underwater in some parts suited lower hutt more but good luck to them.

Just like TW and Phoenix game promotions, those who did not see it or hear it complain their was none. Only got to see 2 goals - to many people wanting to be served - No Turkey on menu!

Am curious. Was there anything?

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Blew.2,

I am not in Wellington at the moment which is why I asked. I will again. Was there any marketing/promotion done for the game by Miramar Rangers?

Not that I saw.  Suspect there was a club email to member.

Like most amatur clubs free publicity is the life blood (just behind free helpers). Research radio and newspaper with JF and as you say word of  mouth, internal newsletters and emails.

Postponed ski holidays with children, missed good week of weather to have shit thrown. As you all know.

But we all do it for either a family member or the love of football.

HOW DID YOU know it was on if it was not in some form of publisity.

The opposite of angst for me on this - $175 for all that is a truly remarkable offer.

Only thing I would say is that I hope they advertise it a bit more so people are aware of it and buy. Just sticking it on the website doesn't count.

At that price, NOBODY really has an excuse not to buy a season ticket IMO. 12/14 games for $175. As a comparison, a Hibs season ticket for the SPL this year costs the equivalent of about $820 NZD for 19 home games...
