this is very true, on another note it's almost a curse to beat Cavvy in a semi final, only Wests in 06 have gone on to win the final...even in 2008 & 2009 both Dun Tech & Three Kings beat cavvy on route to final to finish runner up

Oh true. Silly really considering they are really playing for the central league title next week. If today's result is anything to go by, it will be worth the trip over the hill to watch the Wai united v mar game next week

never nice to hear about players breaking their legs but not surprised with this one, Fleming usually has his shinpads hanging around his ankles

but surprised he actually went in for a tackle!

'Tackle' is using the term loosely.

Yeah wasn't the smartest thing to do, the keeper was clearly going to be there first. Just left a leg in and it made huge contact with the keeper's. Looked nasty. 

Pretty good game to watch though, some real quality in both teams but Central have to be one of the strongest club sides I've seen in a while. 

Stat's men out there,  do the research. How many years have the team that knocked Petone out gone on to win the Chatham cup. Is it a myth or reality?   I am only going on rumour, your job is to add this years!

The way I saw the game, that early penalty really killed Miramar. 

Central Utd would probably have gone home with a win regardless, but that's a turning point in the game. That, and obviously Patty Fleming's red card (and injury - all the best, mate).

Central played great football and I was surprised how good they were on the counter - for a team that tried to dominate the MF and hold possession. A very good side indeed. Tade in great form, Koprivic his usual self - they looked good.

However, Miramar had a great 20-30' spell in the first half where I think, if they'd scored, we would have seen a different game. Mason-Smith reminds me of a younger Greenacre, tireless work but sometimes he tends to drift away from goal. He was outstanding, I thought, when Miramar had 9 and 8 men. He dropped so deep to receive the ball and almost fitted a playmaker role. I wonder what he would be like playing behind two central strikers (sorta like a n.10).

Anyway, good value for money, shame Miramar couldn't find the equalizer in the 1st half as that would have given them confidence and would have warmed up the atmosphere a bit.

Has a look at the DomPost this morning to see if there was a Chatham Cup writeup. There was http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/sport/club-sport/7419941/Chatham-Cup-final-a-first-for-Lower-Hutt-City and I saw Hamish Bidwell wrote, of Lower Hutt,  "for whatever reason, don't reply to phone calls from The Dominion Post."

No Newtown Park

Great news, hopefully NZF market it in the Dom Post etc and try to get a decent crowd there. Us Wellington folk won't have to complain about there being no TV coverage this year.

That would be good. Despite Club allegiances, we should all support the LH as they've done tremendously well to get where they are now. Also, let's show NZF that we can get better crowds than AKL even for a National Competion like the Chatham Cup.

That's a point.  Central have their commemorative 50th anniversary strip; yellow/white verticals.

On a more serious note, is there a café/pub/clubrooms at or near the grounds.  I'm thinking food.  It was kind of pleasant stopping in at The Larder on the way to the Miramar match and the clubrooms did a decent chilli con carne too  The closest I have been to Newtown Park was the zoo, umpteen years ago.
