2-1 loss for Wests today, 1-0 up as well at one stage. Unfortunate OG by Muzz with 25 to go.

One sour point (apart from losing) was young Frankie getting called a "n*gger" to his face by an Upper Hutt player after Frankie got chopped down by him. Uncalled for, nothing done about it by the referee. Its a real shame because I personally didn't think that kind of this was in our game here in Wgtn.

I hope you are happy with yourself pal. U know who u r.

That's really poor.   That shouldn't be left on the field.  Report it to CF.  I'm guessing you weren't the only person to hear it.  Even if the guy goes thru a judicial process & gets a slap on the wrist, he'll know its unacceptable.

Zero tolerance.

The other reason for making a statement.  That sort of accusation tars the whole team, if you don't follow through then you shouldn't raise it in an open forum.

We had that with Wairarapa 2 years ago. We investigated but they wouldn't name any one & knowing the players we had,  I picked it was a false accusation.  It just left a really bad taste in everyone's mouth.

Can't blame TJ for everything. Defense on both sides was loose hence the score. I saw the whole TJ incident - he had the ball in his hands, G wound him up like every horrible scottish centre forward has done over the years to goalies,  by tapping his ankles, running in front, a bit of verbal here and there, TJ kicks the bal forward, more verbals from G, TJ has a swing and only sort of connects but the lino spots it. calls the ref over and TJ is penalised but get this, only gets a yellow. The call can only be for violent conduct hence should have been a straight red. We are all going WTF??? Anyway pen converted so 4 all, from the ko we hit the post and G follows up to score and a massive celebration.  But coming back to TJ, blaming him is a cop out, Stop Out have 2 good players, him and Gulley, and a good coach,  the rest are pretenders. I heard harsh words were said to TJ in the dressing room, pathetic really. Last word is on Fifi who blames the rubbish bin for him having a woeful game and kicks it over as he slopes into the dressing room. Class act not. TW quality? Never

Another possible intepretation:

Violent conduct in the Laws of the Game is described as such:

A player is guilty of violent conduct if he uses excessive force or brutality
against an opponent when not challenging for the ball.

Whereas, a Direct Free Kick can be given for the following

strikes or attempts to strike an opponent

and elsewhere

Cautions for unsporting behaviour
There are different circumstances when a player must be cautioned for
unsporting behaviour, e.g. if a player:
commits in a reckless manner one of the seven offences that incur a direct
free kick

So, a valid interpretation of the LotG is that if a player strikes (or attempts to strike) another player in a way that is neither brutal or using excessive force, but is considered to be reckless, then the appropriate sanction is a DFK (or Penalty as the case may be), and the offending player cautioned for unsporting behaviour.

So this is an example of a commonly confused scenario - raising your hands to another player is not an automatic red card, but only if it is regarded as brutal or using excesive force.

about 33 seconds in - Aliadiere was sent off and then given an extra one match ban for appealing the sending off for this, while Mascherano got nothing.  How can anyone claim that Alladiere was using excessive force or being brutal?

Suppose it's down to whther or not that referee determines it to be exessive or brutal. FA disciplinary board must've agreed.

In the eample youv'e given - I'd say there is quite a difference between tweaking an opponents nose and getting a belt across the chops.

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

Putting aside all the WHAT/ IF/MAYBE of the last 5 mins of the game SO - WU, and,  also the put down of an entire young team of good footballers by RIGHTSTR ...let's focus on what I thought was one of the best prem games I have watched all season from two good footballing sides. Also like to mention the couple of good saves made by the SO goalie. I think both teams can credit themselves with having good coaches and take my hat of to the style in which they play the game. Congrats to both teams and best of luck for future games to all boys.

I'll stand by what I said about Stop Out. Of their team only TJ and Steve Gulley look like 'good' players, in fact Gulley was the best player on the field for both sides. The rest especially Fifi haven't got much though. Some may still become good footballers but aren't there yet. And they never gave up. But this bunch of guys also had a go at TJ in the changing room after the game. What does that say about them? Not that we are perfect and I'm happy to criticise my own team as well too, we were not good defensively and we have some work to do to win this league.

do you include defending in that? Surely letting in 5/4 goals isnt a great footballing display?

Why not? Does that mean a 0-0 is good football. The game is all about scoring goals and 5-4 sounds like a pretty good game to me.

Also remember that there is a forum rule against having multiple logins.

You don't get to start a new account just because you changed club mid-season.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

And it is for a similar reason that the Crusaders are easily the best rugby side in NZ

it's a shame you've compared football to rugby. i think i'm missing the point though, unless you're saying that the crusaders aren't much without carter and mccaw?

  1. Peter: Renamed by Jesus to Peter (meaning rock), his original name was Simon bar Jonah;[Mk 3:16] was a fisherman from the Bethsaida "of Galilee"[Jn 1:44], cf. Jn 12:21. Also known as Simon bar Jochanan (Aram.), Cephas (Aram.), and Simon Peter.
  2. Andrew: The brother of Simon/Peter, a Bethsaida fisherman, and a former disciple of John the Baptist.
  3. James, son of Zebedee: The brother of John.
  4. John: The brother of James. Jesus named both of them Bo-aner'ges, which means "sons of thunder'.'"[Mk 3:17]
  5. Philip: From the Bethsaida of Galilee[Jn 1:44] [12:21]
  6. Bartholomew, son of Talemai; usually identified with Nathanael, who is mentioned in Jn 1:45-51.[14]
  7. Matthew: The tax collector. The similarity between Mt 9:9-10, Mk 2:14-15 and Lu 5:27-29 may indicate that Matthew was also known as Levi.[citation needed]
  8. Thomas: Judas Thomas Didymus - Aramaic T'oma' = twin, and Greek Didymos = twin. Doubting Thomas.
  9. James, son of Alphaeus: Generally identified with "James the Less", and also identified by Roman Catholics with "James the Just".[15]
  10. Thaddeus: In some manuscripts of Matthew, the name "Lebbaeus" occurs in this place. Thaddeus is traditionally identified with Jude; see below.
  11. Simon the Zealot: Some have identified him with Simeon of Jerusalem.[16]
  12. Judas Iscariot: The disciple who later betrayed Jesus.[Mk 3:19] The name Iscariot may refer to the Judaean towns of Kerioth or to the sicarii (Jewish nationalist insurrectionists), or to Issachar. Also referred to as "Judas, the son of Simon."[Jn 6:71] [13:26] He was replaced by Matthias as an apostle shortly after Jesus' resurrection.

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Man we suck at providing team lists. Wayne Dalton scored our goal

Good game against Karori - let me firstly say, sorry for not heading back to your clubrooms. Karori is a long way from Alex Moore for most of our boys. We weren't being bitter gits.

Karori deserved the result, more clear cut chances for them, our goal came from a defensive gaff. On the whole it was a really good spirited game. Even Brian and Shaun seemed relatively calm... at least from where I was. Our squad was hurt by World Cup and Ireland vs All Blacks game, but that's no exscuse. Was a real game at 1 all, but 2nd goal just killed us.

Cheers boys

Oh let me add though, the ref was a mug, blind, biased, a bit funny looking as well thelastnomad2010-06-12 19:38:32

Wharf clearly the better team vs marist. New signing donaghan run the show - wharf playing good football in difficult conditions. Fulch class in goal. Donaghan could be a key factor in pushing wharf to title.

Marist best player lee carsly look-a-like. Very strange decision to drag him after 70.

We were garbage we really were. All the old cliches apply, only as good as your last game, football is a leveller, etc etc. We were due a performace like this and it was bound to happen after such good results. I wouldn't fancy being at G's trainings this week. Sorry for not fessing up earlier, I wasn't aware so many people cared about us. I've also been distraced by some other games on TV so the world isn't quite normal.

Halfway stage in the season.
Upper Hutt 19. Wharfies 18. WellUtd 17. Stop Out 16.
It looks like it could easily go down to the last match of the season to find a champion this year.
WellUtd and Stop Out appear to have a decent run-in while Wharfies and Upper Hutt continue to produce the results.

This is one of the most exciting Premier seasons in a long long time with the standard of play alot better and closer amongst all the teams.

So who will the be champions come August?
