Wharfies- KCU called off at halftime with Wharfies 3-2 ahead. Karori Park in great nick for the duck shooting season. Game should never have started.

Crazy.
Wellington United vs. Island Bay probably should've been called off too. The ground was f**ked after the reserves played on Newtown before hand so that wasn't the smartest.
WU took their chances better (which they probably had more of) and won 2-0.

Great result for Marist - Miramar will be spitting tacks. I think the miss from .5 yard out was the highlight.

However it took a fairly dodgy (the Miramar player admitted afterwards he dived) penalty for Miramar to equalise in the 88th minute or so.

Hell of a game, would of been entertaining to watch

Make that 2 games called off, Wharfies v Wainui Cap1 was called off before kickoff.

It was probably called off on the field that we played on! Ref was a mugg for even allowing the game to start!

Stop Out v Western Suburbs was an OK match. I have to say that pitch at Hutt Park stands up so well.
Stop Out were 0-2 down and came back "strongly...

What I did enjoy was the quality of some of the goals. great strikes.

One more thing. The ref, name escapes me, just gets better. When I first saw him, maybe two seasons back, I wasn't impressed but now...  he's good.

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Indeed.  Naenae alright first half and I thought better then they were on Saturday all around.  United just way to good.  They may have a lot old men but I reckon that they could sneak past Mar in Big Cup.

Incidentally, the number 10 who was touted as A-League material somewhere the other week ?  Can't see it myself, didn't realise he was ex-Lower Hutt.

Emi was at Lower Hutt for 3-4 weeks before the season started, so he tells me. I heard he got three tonight but missed a hand full of clear chances? He has talent we don't see in this country but he also has a lot to learn if he wants to go anywhere.

Went to watch the Marist v Stop Out match. What an awful awful pitch...??Very taken by the Marist player in the second half, who unchallenged, fluffed his shot and then had a go at the linesman...  AS if the "lino" played some part in his poor technique... <shakes head>

Can't comment on striker, was to far away rolling round in the mud.

However, as for the pitch. Some interesting tidbits have come to light. Kilbernie has basically been used most of this season as the local shuttle drill area for one and all Rugby teams. And the council has finally acted on this. So in Marist's defense - yes we know Kilbernie is bum, but your pitch would be too if you had 20 odd lumbering meat axes doing sprinting drills all over it four times a week for the last couple of months.

/end rant
has Kilbirnie had some work done on it?

Well done the warf that tightens things up a wee bit. As for the goalscorer, I last saw him this side of midnight still giving it a nudge at Estadio, so well done that man also.

Huge win for the Wharf - very scrappy goal but made all that difference in the end, as did Fulcher's penalty save in the first half.

First time I saw Upper Hutt this season, expected a bit more from them considering the way they'd been going for the last few weeks.

was impressed by the Wests forwards especially the guy on the left who I guess must have been Ed. He gassed Soley easily. Wests used the wind well in the first half including that fine strike from 40 yards.
Our finishing was poor. Also the keeper did pretty well on the million corners we had in the second half. Was a pity we had the dude I have voted worst official for the past five years on the line at the time Roobs did his hand of god.
Was dismayed to see this guy teaching some new refs/linos this weekend in a Womens Central League game. God help us.

It was 3-2 to Wests when I left Newtown Park 10 mins or so ago. United conceding very soft goals.

Marist 3-1 over Naenae today. Naenae are bad, must be really hard playing week in week out and still keeping their heads up. We could/should have scored 6 or so

No discussion about goal I conceded

upper hutt in box seat now. they have to play the wharf but given their goal diff will have to lose that plus drop points elsewhere to blow out. meanwhile wharf will need to keep winning.
United prob out of running now, mar too. Stop Out have an outside chance but will need things to go their way.

Amazing the difference a few key players being unavailable, an opposition determined to cripple every one of you, and a referee quite happy to allow it can make.

UH have a tough run in, have to play the mar twice. The mar could ruin a few title aspiarations out of their three games they have UH and stop out. My money is on the Wharf. Its going to be interesting.

Anyone know what's going to happen with the abandoned game between Wharf and KCU?

Thinking about this, I remembered that when a similar situation happened in La Liga a few years back, the re-scheduled game continued from the point at which the original game was called off, is it likely that something like this will happen in this case, or will there be a whole new game played?
