And that's the info that was missing..outside the box. Had me thinking it was a penalty and maybe the keeper was hard done by for winning the ball first. One on one handball outside the box..red card no question.

Wharf 1 Mar 2. Fairly even game, most notable talking point is it was the first game of the season and the referee is the central figure. Wharf have Tarrant sent off in 75th minute, came out one on one got a glove on the ball and then took the player with his follow through, apparently the referee has never heard of interia. Defender back tracking was questionbly the last man and not the keeper. Anyway he gets sent off with the score at 1-1. It would be good if more referees had actually played football, I think they would get a lot more difficult decisions right.

No cause for complaint - all this happened outside the box, and keeper handling the ball outside the box in a goal threatening situation is a red card offence in its own right.
except that it was about five yards in the box

I saw these guys feeding at Newtown Park today. I think it's hardly their fault they behave like that though.

Fuck this stupid game

So why was the free kick awarded then?

....

major problem to get x players to ref......Masters grades now probably account for this in some way...being such an easy sport to ref i can't understand why more don't do it......

Guess that's why the ball was on the penalty spot initially?

Wests 4-7 Olympic.

Wests went 1-0 up but went chasing until levelling at 4-4. A second half straight red for dissent ruined any chances Wests had to grab a win and it blew out from there.

we confused the ref by moving the ball from the spot to the edge of the box

Interesting - I don't recall seeing him point to the spot at any point, so assumed it was clear that whatever happened, happened outside the box.

The ball on the penalty spot I took as Miramar trying to pressure him into giving a peno. Nevermind. It's all done and dusted now.

If it prevented an obvious goalscoring opportunity, then a red card was the correct decision. It was the correct decision regardless of whether the referee had ever played football in his life or not.

"The last man" thing really gets on my tits. There is absolutely NOTHING in the Laws of the Game about "the last man". It's committing a foul which prevents an obvious goalscoring opportunity which is the offence.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Affirmative Feverish - it claimed its first victim today one of the BNU girls had to go off injured.

As for Marist - WU game. The difference was Eme up front (Team Wellington super sub, yeah?). Scored with last kick of game to make it 3-1. A draw might have been a cheeky result, but you could argue it.

Marist - we are Ireland in disguise

I might have to add that it could have been 3-1 at half time if not for a couple of good saves from you. Our keeper didn't have quite as much involvement. You guys put up a good fight, those new Irish lads are handy.

Agree ,these cricket squares are bloody lethal it's only a  matter of time before some one ends up with a fractured skull or such like !

I got whistled for kicking an opponent and I corrected him saying that I actually grabbed the opponent and the ref was very irate!

Solid predictions Roy. I'm a little wary of the mini bubbles ability to put the ball in the back of the net though. I think they'll test some defences this season.

Upper Hutt with 10 men for most of game.  IB goal = pen.  Not a pretty game but a good effort from UHC to get out of that situation with 3 pts.

Marist - Karori game in bullet points.

  • Benn Pittson scores perhaps the greatest freekick I've ever seen irrespective of level for the only goal
  • Myself save 5 one on ones
  • Ref sends two lads for very very silly yellow cards (on the players part, back chat and kicking ball away). One from each team, our boy on reflection realises he shouldn't have done it, and refs hands were tied
That's pretty much it really. Simply because of how busy I was it seems like we escaped with daylight robbery. But we'll take it.

Oh and for the record, the cricket wicket hasn't softened up yet at all *ugh*
