Olympic didnt play but they have a team that could potentially do very well with many players having central league experience

I guess it reflects there recent for with some close games suchs as 3-2 loss to petone and 2-2 with lower hutt. However the under 19s team is also Olympics reserve team which is coming 2nd in the grade and strongly pushing for promotion!
Last year was the first year in 4 years that we havent made the final.
First 2 gold medals, 2nd year silver (in which 7 starters were out) and last year fk knws.
Jst watch Olympic will be very strong and im sure lower hutt will too.
Miramars only got a strong midfield.

haha still I doubt Wairapa were thaaaaaat good. Looks as though Karori will be same as last year. I recken the strong teams will be greeks miramar and maybe wellington united. Never know about those hutt teams i wonder with stop out being so average if mcdermit will play for them this year.

So there's been some angst at Waterslide Aquadrome this week over the 'players getting paid' scandal.

I am apparently persona non grata.  Which is a bit of a giggle.

Anyway the low down (in case anyone missed it in the previous thread on this issue, now closed) is that the only players getting paid at the Wharf are kids who work for the club in a coaching capacity.

Not really what you'd call news I have to say.

I assumed everyone was up with that play and my Big Spender gag was just that.  A gag.

So players at Waterside are NOT getting paid just to play Under 19s.  I hear a lad has demanded paying, been refused, so has walked out to play for North Wellington.  How you can be Billy Big Time when you're playing for Wharfies reserves (no offence Frankie) I do not know.  But there it is.

Now let's get back to the results shall we.  Are they on the web anywhere?  Post a link someone.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

i got your gag smithy although i ran home from work so i could watch the you tube vid of under 19's football.

i took feverishes word for it in the closed thread months ago about not paying players - although i was shocked to hear it out in the public domain - pleased to hear kids are earning pocket money coaching soccer or whatever they do??

Sure you have the right Phil  - " building a team"    is this the same Phil that " builds" the Wairapapa Primier team with locals ?

Sorry to start this up again Smithy, but I've heard again of a player being offered money to play for Karori, deffinately not a coach, only a player. But I'm not sure how true this.

It'll be interesting to see who comes out top, Mar and Olympic will be strong. From what I hear Lower Hutt have a good team and Wellington United will be looking to build on last year again. I think they have 9ish players with central league experience and maybe 7 or 8 college players with various levels of rep/international experience. Quite a few from WC again, helps that Rosco teaches there. I know of one quality player who is undecided who to play for (KCU don't quite cut it any more for him), all teams seem to have various levels of appeal.

Should be a good season I think

yeah i fell victim to Phils senior team policy a few years ago when Sacha Nathu was bought in a week before the season began, but with the juniors he does seem to stick with the local players. He does play favourites with some players but thats common everywhere

Balicevac, Blackburn, Mason, McPeake, Hall-Jones, and those are just the ones who have played for their first team this year that I can think of.

They'll no doubt get a few from Stream's 1st XI - James Vernon, Ethan Morta, is there still a Coad there?

No doubt others I don't know/can't think of.  Will be a good side.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
