tawa beat olympic 2-0 yesterday.

olympic could potentially do very well if you keep playing over age players pavlos

word was that olympic had only about four players starting who would normally start.

their full back was playing centre mid....

Olympic had 4 U19's playing against wests for the 1st team.

The clubs situation atm has forced the 19's to take a backseat as of now but when we come full strngth again...watch out.

Dont wanna sound like a bitch, but the ref didnt help at all. He gave a peno for nothing and when olympic coach tried to give him stick, he ran over, or should i say walked as slow as my grandmother, and said, "I HAVE GOLD MEDAL FROM OLYMPICS!"

Good times.

Nah ref was absolutely shocking, apparently the refs son was in the tawa team so what can you do!
Who are ya bob??? Wouldnt be a tawa supporter would u by ne chance standing on the sideline?

i dont support tawa at all - i do su[pport the under 19's cause though - do you agree with olympic playing over age players pavlos? id rather they play 4 15 year olds and get spanked 15-0 than play 4 20 year olds and keep the score to 2-0.(infact that little guy has been around for years he would nearly be hitting 30 wouldn't he?)

yes tang is a awful referee - shocking infact. and yes i belive his son is in the team - so who knows how that appointment got made.

Being a son of a ref, I had my father officiate games when i first started playing senior football. (this is based on Chch knowledge), nothing like keeping people seperate because of relations in football occurs. You ref, and should be impartial, very few refs are anyway (everyone has passions about something/someone). But appointments just get made, they don't make refs list where all their relations play, then blacklist the teams

fair enough lastnomad but you would think if the ref got appointed to his sons game you would say well hang on here mayb i should ask capital football for a swap - just dosn't seem right! but no doubt its all legit

Ive hear a couple rumours about the ref situation in that game, but dont want to say any, because if false, it would just be spreading more sh*t.

Isnt the rule that you cannot ref a game if you have family ties in one side?
Permalink Permalink
over 17 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
i dont think anyone would ahve any problem with family reffing games as long as you play it fair and honest - it would be a bit rich of olympic to blame their lose on the ref given the overage players which have been alleged to have play, any reason for that apart from central league commitments.

I wish I had a dollar for everytime I'd heard that about him.

Guys, some refs are just not up to it but you just have to learn to live with it. They give up their time and in must cases their intentions are good but not everyone can be a great ref just like we all cant be great players. Its not an easy job, and yes they do seem to ruin many a good game but moaning about them (or at them) is a waste of breath.

see my comment for above - i was refeering to the fact olympic didnt like the referee when them themselves have got as much to answer for overage players.
yes alot has been said about this certain referee - and i agree with your comments, i think more and better education of these referees who people continually get upset about should be in order - the hardest part would probably be finding a way to single out dissapointing refs, the team card rating dosn't seem to do alot

they dont have to answer for me - it is optional, like its optional for you to come on here
and post a reply. not so clownish really.

What do they have to answer for??? they are playing overage players in an under 19 competition?? would seem pretty basic wouldnt it.... "under 19" means you are under the age of 19 on the 1st of january this year. i wouldnt care less if they played or not - or who won the game or not, the fact of the matter is under 19's is used as a development for players "under 19" yet olympic seem to fit to play players over the age of 19.

The only reason we played overage players was because we could not summon our U19's squad due to dedications to the first and second team. With regards to the referee, he was shocking, thats an opinion that has been seconded by many, i agree nightz, refs give up their times to help out NZ soccer, but im sure theres a couple out there that could have a look at a manual before lacing up their boots.

Olympic's U19's are focused on from the start of year as we give our 19's oppourtunities to play for the second team alongside their 19's teammates.

It shouldt happen again and i dont see why such a fuss about overage players is being brought up anyway. We knew what the consequences were, and if we won, we would of been docked. No biggie.

, how does playing overage players benefit anyone??

This same problem came up last year. How it benefits anyone is obvious, Tawa got to play a competitive game and get some worthwhile practice together. I'm sure that it was better than Olympic putting out an uncompetitive team and Tawa thrashing them by 10 goals, that would benefit nobody.

Thanks Feverish, youd know how to spot a cheater after your 11-0 loss in capital one.

Ye thanks nightz, we did tawa a favour by feilding any kind of side at all, because they needed to register a couple of their players for the tourny.

There are no excuses being made for the loss. Just thought that ref seemed a bit dodgy. As others have concured with on this thread aswell.

All refs are idiots.

Genius.  Would you prefer to play without them ?

If Feverish edited your post i would imagine it is because you broke the forum rules as documented on every forum.  Be glad it was him not me, I'd have just banned you.

Oh, and I'm the Commie.

Fk end of the day mate who cares ref was terrible ok. Called a peno from half way. Not that big a deal that we lost, considering we all got home 5 am that morning and had to put a team together. To us we would have not wanted to play no doubt. However we did Tawa a huge favour so they can register there players. As for Feverish ... pff got nothing to say excpet 11-0 great coach!
As for everyone else thank you for your input.

why is this turning into you having a go at WC? I can spell perfectly fine, i attend WC, im sure you'll find that there are many bright academics who passed through our school, and bright football players too- Gareth James most recently. So what's your point again?
