mmm diamonds look dangerous atm. Whats up with karori 5 losses 5 games are they missing a lot of players or is the club just struggling. I thought they had some real good player from Napier that had been playing for them during the year?

By the way Olympic didnt play Wairarapa I dont think. Or did they?
But ye fair to say from previous performances this year in under 19s from olympic they dnt look that great. However if u look at player for player they could potentially be the best team in welly, just not playing well.
Ahhh re kotchoooo

They must have played Wairarapa unless they were defaulted to, which might be Olympic's only win?
Sure they might have a better team player for player pavlos but i'm guessing something isn't clicking with the team at the moment for a club that normally does so well to underperform so badly in IE, something can't be right? I think it's more a thing of who turns up on the day- if you look at the Wgtn Untd- LHutt game. On paper LHutt should have cleaned up with their attack-Millen, Blackburn, Regan Steele and the brazillian too. But they didn't turn up on the day and Wgtn Untd beat them 2-0. Fair point?

Very fair point mate I completely agree.
Ye fkn very dissapointing olympic in Ivan England considering we won it the first 2 years and lost in the final to miramar 3-2 in the third year (where we all witnessed an absolute stunning strike into the top corner to make the game 2-2 - fanxxx).
But I guarantee you, come napier i believe the team will be better.

Can't comment on Karori, but yeah pavlos I'm sure lots of teams are just using IE to build towards UHutt tourny and Napier. I expect level at UHutt will be a lot higher than what we've seen. Teams struggling to get a consistent XI on the park due to other commitments etc during IE but with ?all? otherr football finished by then it should be good.

From the sounds of things petone were lucky to beat wellington united. Ref gave a shocking penalty and then tackled a wellington player by accident which led to petones 2nd goal. Didnt help that welliington had no composure infront of goal either plus an under strngh team..

Predict 2 nil miramar

not neccesarilary lucky. They probably played slightly better, esp playing into the wind.  Having said that they were pretty  lucky to get that penalty.  1st there was barey any contact and 2nd it was outside the box.  But Petone took there chances and we didn't.  We hit the bar and missed a good chances just before petone's first goal.

the pen sounds like the same thing that happened to miramar when they played united... just????

Bit of difference between little contact and holding a playing back in bear hug style.

Even the petone coaching staff/bench were suprised.

even bigger difference when one was inside the box and one was out side the box huh.......

jeez the pools are a bit dodgey. United Miramar Lower Hutt Stop Out all central league teams in one pool vs  pool c with napier waiarapa north wellington karori upper hutt academy in other. You would be stoked if u were Napier. Its very probable whoever wins pool B will win the tournament and whoever finishes 3rd will go on and win the plate.

Good old Upper Hutt... if only one year they were to make this ''random draw' a public event

... Must be a coincidence that every year they place themselves in the easiest group of the tournament?

Upper Hutt run a tournment for the benefit of the teams going to Napier and all some small minded people can do is maon about the draw.
Harden up and be thankfull some people get off their arses, give up their time and provide these tournments for you to play in.

i would hardly call that a moan.... just calling a spade a spade.

many thanks to upper hutt for organizing, but claiming a random draw??.......

Somebody hit a nerve there!

Not trying to spark up the debate as I am one of those who will be taking part in the UHutt tourny. But you don't see Ivan England not so much rigged but tilted towards one team based on a "random draw". So I think it's fair to say the UHutt draw is interesting at best, some call it biast, rigged or whatever, but the fact it, the draw's been made, and we've just got to play to it.

Ohh and Nightz- I wouldn't call everybody critiquing (please excuse the spelling- I'm on school holidays) the tournament "small minded". If they've got the brains to address an issue that possibly the "Random Draw" isn't so random- how are they close minded?
Permalink Permalink

i agree that the draws been made and theres nothing that can be done about it. However its hard to get a little suspect when you look at upperhutts pool, not one central league team, then pool b with 3 and 1 recently demoted central league teams..If we go by the rule that every club who "gets off their arses, gives up their time and provide these tournments for you to play in" gets to pick a 'random' draw how it wants then whats the point.

Sought it out!

i dont think it matters toocmuch about the tough group b draw. its good to get some real tough games before napier. besides the tournament is a warm up for napier. And im speaking on behalf of one of the sides in group b.

It is a shame that all of those teams in group B were in the same group for Ivan England.

Yes, that is a shame but I guess that sort of thing can happen with a random draw. I wouldnt be expecting to see the same results when they play again though.

I think everybody pretty much agrees that their happy to be getting decent games before Napier and that they dont care who they play, just dont try claim its a random draw

should be interesting seeing the results, upper hutts always a better indicator of how strong teams are, rather than ivan england which teams struggle to sometimes field 11 players
