Mainland Premier League

Interesting comments on the Western facebook page telling their members not to attend matches and if they do the fines will be passed on to them. Also stating that it was Mainland banning the Western fans not the committee. And another complaint for last Satdy's game against Coastal.

Was expecting it to come through at 4.59pm today. NZF close at 5pm for the weekend and don't have to deal with the unhappy side of the decision for at least a couple of days. Happens in most other national organisations.

On another note, with FC looking like relegation from MPL, and PDL mirroring MPL at this stage, this may have large ramifications for the club as to where their teams go. At the moment, they have teams in MPL, PDL, Div1-5. So if MPL (and by logic) PDL teams drop out, and Mainland want to keep the Div1 with singular teams from each club, where do they go? 2 in Div 2 like a few years ago. Not a great situation to be in.

My solution, maybe look at 11-12 teams MPL and 11-12 teams in Div1. Look at those good enough to go up from Div1 to MPL (Uni, Chch Utd, Waimak, Nelson based team?) and change it to a home/away league. Also extend Div1 out the same way (bring in Halswell, Western, Parklands, another Uni/FC team?)

Have promotion relegation as per usual and with the longer season it will definitely bring the cream to the top.

FC will keep PDL team, same as Chch Utd did this year because Nelson Suburbs don't run a PDL team that travels to Chch as per MPL

Was not at the game but FC scored first from an error from Highfield, with the winning goal coming midway into the 2nd half.

Really? Was at that game and saw nothing untoward. Who complained about what? Unless they confused you lot as Western supporters Vim?

With the current headlines that would probably be the last club I want to be confused with supporting.

Or maybe Waimak.

No updates from me in Nelson, road trip fell through. I was offered a seat with the lovely ladies down to Dunedin for NZ quarter-final which I foolishly turned down. I have got someone to tweet updates from down there tho.

Was a quiet day as ASB today with the game not that flash with Sammy Miles scoring on the hour with Shane Rose getting the second in added time.

Tech's 7 - 1 win the biggest score of the season so far.

Was actually 4-0.  So that's the unbeaten season for Uni, not a bad effort at all..

So, Waimak beat United next week and all NZF need to do is hand 3 points back for the game the player didnt play in and Uni win the league. United win or draw then Uni need at least 6 from the appeal..

Surely logic plays a part in this, how can you have a team win promotion losing 4 games in a season when the other due to a minor clerical error lose none? What does United gaining promotion do for the integrity of MPL next year?? It almost seems based on the time it has taken for NZF to make a decision that they are waiting for the end of the season, that way they know what they need to do in terms of a decision and justify that from there..

minor clerical error? But what about the teams who chose not to play their players who's transfers were not thru. Surely they compromised their seasons by following the rules.  The field surely has to be fair for all.  There must be a few teams wishing they had made minor clerical errors and played their full squads by mistake too!!

Shoit shoit. just lost my extra long report on the Tech v Nomads game.

Nomads GK , you could say he had a shocker of the like I've never seen before in any grade, at least 4 basic errors incuding an OG cost them any chance.

Maybe Shorty or Jordie will be in line for Nomads gk next season.

The Tech keeper was also to blame for the Nomads goal, from a free kick he dropped it in his net.

Tech did play well from 3-1 up. Nomads got the first goal of the game, started to go wrong from that point on as Nomads players forgot what basic defending is about.

Note if you can't pass to a team mates feet cause you don't have the ability at least stick it 60 mtrs down the other end. stop passing to the other team 25 and 30mtrs from you own goal.

Well that was worth watching, at least none of the goals were missed during the numerous technical glitches in the first half. 5-1 Utd and a treat to watch. Man they have some young talent.

Scottie sounds like you were a wee bit disappointed with Nomads performance today?

Strike one. Actually given Waimak's recent episode should probably consider this strike 2.

Would hate to be the club who next steps out of line.

I made a "minor clerical error" the other day!! I forgot to register my car! The policeman that pulled me over was really good, he understood that I should have registered my car 2 months ago and then fined me and gave me demerits!

Don't know what it means for promotion but FC Nelson and Nelson College's final round clash will decide the winner of the Nelson competition. If FC Nelson draw the title is theirs.

I was told no teams from in the Nelson league indicated that they wished to enter any play-off's if they won their league.

Great win for Coastal to continue the dominance of the ChCh teams over their southern rivals. Here hoping for a home semi.

Probably a wise decision. Interesting that the Nelson div one will have the top three separated by a single point and the div 2 had three teams sitting on 26 points going into the final round.

confirmed from a coastal player involved in the game, one of their players verbally assualted the referee with some colourful langauage then proceded to physically assualt him before being sent off. Sounds like the ref had a poor game from his one eye but at the end of the day if you behave like this you have to accept the consequences
