Cashmere Tech are currently the #1 side in NZ according to my rankings system. So well done down there - I expect Cashmere to cruise into the Chatham Cup semis in the weekend!  And not to be diminished a win tonight will push Bays into the #6 spot.

where are the wimmuns?
Actually, flag that. Just checked the men's through your link Mike and they are a joke tbh, nice try though.

I was, just forgot the smiley :)

A ranking list that has only one or 2 Auckland teams in the top 10 is surely a bit dodgy? And Cashmere top because they beat the worst local team (FCRIP) in an average league by a cricket score?

I see Parklands (Div 2 champions) got tipped up by FC in the first round of the league cup at the weekend.

Still no word on the Varsity appeal? Hopeless.

It is crazy that its taken this long for Uni to hear the result of their appeal. I would have thought that a appeal like that would attract some sort of urgency. Does any one know if div 1 is having a cup this year or is our game against united the last game in div 1 for season?? No one seems to know and nothing from mainland.

Looking at the table its amazing to think Uni are on 25 points, 3 behind the lead, and have had 15 points taken off them. Basically comes down to the fact the didn't get to play Utd again once they had their penalty.

Selwyn are playing Uni in a friendly this weekend at Brookside. Maybe the last game of the round Waimak/Utd couldn't be played this week at ASB? I agree it's a bit of as joke to have a break for 1 week in the season for 6 of the 8 Div1 teams due to scheduling issues and surely the appeal result should be known by now

Yes Div1 is having one of those crossover cup things this year. Personally, I think not many of the teams take it seriously, for example CashTech played touch rugby for their warmup last year when we played them in the cup stage. Granted it will warm you up, but putting up bombs to pressure the fullback catching it isn't serious is it!

NZF will be waiting for the outcome of the Waimak v United game, positive of that. From there they can make the decision of how many points to give back Uni. The fact it has taken this long bodes pretty positively for Uni, they either get 3 points for a game the player in question did not play in and win the league on goal difference, or get all points back and win the league by 13 points.

Permalink Permalink

That's probably right if the player didn't play in one of those games and he was not on the card then why could mainland not have ruled on that when they gave the other points back?? Just seems to be taking a long time to make decision. Pretty unfair on the Uni boys and United. As for the league cup teams always seem more relaxed playing them I personally would rather see a three round league in the future rather than a cup.

For the best interest of the premier league I hope that the students get their points back. Clearly smashed the div 1 league, by far the best run club in div 1 and deserve their spot in next years pfl. Good luck boys!

Cannot see that being the case.
I think it has taken so long is more likely how often the NZ F Disputes panel met, as it is made up of legal eagles not NZ F staffers.
I think whatever their ruling is what impact it will have not only Mainland Fed rules but maybe other Feds rules as well, going forward.

I agree, it seems just like a season filler to me. No real point to it at all except that finishing middle of July is a bit shit

Not sure on all results but heard that Nomads U14's beat FC 5-0 in final of Nelson Tournament....

Pretty sure Richmond beat FC Nelson 1-0 in the 15th grade final.. Crazy how some of these boys had been playing Nelson first division this season despite their age. Thought Richmond striker Jamie Cresswell, who is a regular in the first division team, was a standout. Physically he looks a lot older than 15 and was a class above in the game against Halswell.

When I saw FC Twenty 11 inside the top 35 I had to question it ..then I noticed it was somehow suggesting the South Island teams are the best. Just because the two Dunedin teams never lose to anyone else doesn't mean they're the best in the country.

Re: Suburbs Junior Tournie in Nelson this Week: (Cashmere, Birko, Nomads, FC Nelson, Lower Hutt, Western Suburbs, Nelson Suburbs etc etc)

Wests (Whitby Manor) 12th grade team of the tournament for me.  Biggest knuckle goes to that Martin Devlin from Western Springs...

Martin Devlin aside, good times had by all.  Begrudging respect to suburbs for a good show in the Nelson sun.  Nice.

So nelson 1st div std is average or these boys are really good?
Cresswell didn't make much impact in the game i saw him play at FTC tourney.
Is he a chance for nelson falcons this year?

The point of the League Cup is to extend the season as close as possible to the 20 weeks the council allows Mainland to have the grounds for while accommodating 8 team leagues (which clubs asked for). Once upon a time 10 team leagues were the norm so no need for a league cup with teams playing 18 games then squeezing in a knockout where possible. You asked for it so you got it. If people think differently they need to voice their opinion to their club.

Could be an interesting game in Nelson tomorrow with both sides missing players due to suspension, with Brandon Kay out for Suburbs and Russell Kamo for Bays, with Josh Smith also not traveling north. Sounds like Ben Wright still under and injury cloud.

A key game for both sides to close the gap on Cashmere Tech.

Cashmere Tech face Suburbs next Saturday with Bays hosting Coastal. The following round Bays at home to Tech with Suburbs facing  Western, so some big game ahead in the next two rounds at the top of the table.

Probably the standard is average. There are second division sides that could possibly win the first division here. I thought Richmond's defenders in the 15th grade at the tournament were also outstanding, as with midfielder Berti Fish. Jamie is probably too young for Falcons at this stage. Last year the majority of them were 17, 18, 19

Don't know what happened at the end there. mark Johnston yellow carded for pushing the ferrymead player that got red carded off his seat on the bench. Don't know why the red carded player was on the bench or what made mark push him off it.

For all the other train spotters out there this was just the 9th draw of the season - 21 last season, 19 the season before that and 13 in 2010 which was the lowest number of draws for a 8 team 3 round MPL.
