Maybe they are hoping everyone will forget about it.

In Other News - Update on the Westerngate supporter saga

Police officer charged with assault

A police officer has been charged with assaulting a linesman at a Christchurch premier league football match.

Senior Constable Keith Rose, 59, allegedly confronted the match official at the end of a match between Western and Cashmere Technical at English Park on June 29.

He will appear in Christchurch District Court on September 13.

Canterbury District Commander Superintendent Gary Knowles said police had interviewed more than 20 witnesses during their investigation.

"We are grateful for the response from witnesses who came forward with information," he said.

"Any allegation involving a police officer is taken very seriously and we have conducted a thorough and robust investigation into the incident."

Knowles said the officer was on restricted duties, and an internal investigation would now be initiated.

Rose, a Western supporter, had been at the game watching his son play and was off duty at the time.

Match officials were verbally harassed by Western supporters after some controversial decisions in the match, won 4-1 by Cashmere Technical.

Western was fined $2000 by Mainland Football and coach Julian Morris suspended for two matches following the incident.

The club has banned members from attending premier league games for the rest of the season.

Are you playing this weekend? If so no invite to Greymouth - are the Presidents 'A' on the outer.

Chch utd div1 coach has resigned.

On the eve of them getting promoted to the MPL? Or is it cos they aren't?

He resigned weeks ago his last game was meant to be the one that got called off against us.

I would also resign if i was him. I would be ashamed to win promotion in this manner. 3rd best team in the league. no coach,no quality players. They would be the laughing stock of the mpl. I would go as far to say, they wouldnt get a single point.

I reckon there have been more posts on div1drama than the football this season - and the season close to ending; but I reckon div1 chat will go thru the off season! Cashmere looking good for the title but Chatham cup will be on their minds.  Wonder if there's any late late late drama in the women's title race after coastal slipped up on the western banana peel in the cup? Junior rep teams and NTC TOL out next week.

For Cashmere (Price?) I believe is out - possible stuffed knee.  They have a tough few weeks with Bays, English cup semi and Chatham Cup as well.   You'd almost not want to win this weekend and have Hurley shield over your neck as well if you want to win the league.

Think Tech are capable of winning the league and the cup. Would b great for chch football.

Junior Rep sides will not be named untill 19-21 Aug

and Sunday trials could be moody with the expected rain

Could end up with the league, English Cup, Hurley Shield and Chatham Cup yet, wouldn't bet against it.

A long time between drinks. What chance do you give tech of making it to final and winning.

Forgot to add ChCh United scored all three goals that day as Mike Fullen conceded a own goal.

rep teams = will not be named until NTC is sorted

TOL is 18th Aug

they are not going to announce "here is the squad of 16 Reps" , then take 3 out and ask another 3 in. also some grades will not be allowed to do both Reps and NTC

With all the talk about Christchurch United sad to read in The Press today of the death of Terry Stone, a former board member of The Rams in their hay days. Terry was always working behind the scenes. RIP Terry

Aaah that's the reason. Those grades where no clash between NTC and SI tourney could be announced but I'm sure that wont be the case. Thanks foal.

TOL - next Sunday and no one been informed yet? Tough on families traveling from Nelson etc

FCNOWDIV1 are sending a team to Napier U19 satellite tournament (on proviso that players sign a contract promising to play for the club - in DIV 1 - next year). Means their team for Coastal's Tsunami tourney will be considerably weaker. Cashmere are a mainstay of the Napier main draw and have always sent a '2nd' team to the local labour day weekend tournament.

some players know about TOL

quite why the wider invites haven't happened I'm not sure. Nelson, Blenheim etc had submitted who they wanted to send so possibly those players/families are aware.

I also see the 12's and 13's (2000 and 2001 DOB) are separate for the boys. "Normally" it has been 2 year bands. Or often.

I wonder if that is to address relative age effect somewhat, which is exacerbated in a 2 yr age band; which is world cup cycle.

if the best players don't play with and against the best players ie NTC players, why bother? My understanding was sth island tournaments were planned for the 2nd week of holidays so NTC players were available. I can understand why more and more clubs are going to north island tournaments. Sad day when sth island tournaments become festivals - the gulf between nth island and sth island will grow!!

Interesting spectactor at the game between Bays and Technical was Mich Waite, former All White and current Wellington Olympic coach, who Technical play in the next round of the Chatham Cup.

Unsure if Mick would have learnt alot.
