Strangely it is down for Brookside Park, which is Rolleston. So if you are coming up it is just a little bit closer!

Ah, would love to, however duty calls and must stay behind and tend to the city. I did go up for the Nelson match a month and a half ago. Won't be half as good as this wknds match. Might send a banner up.

Guts of it is: Braithwaite continues to scream at officials, players, supporters. Mainland bans him for one game so he can be back before he leaves.

What a joke, Mainland want to be tough, however when it comes down to it, don't want to annoy their coach who they employ later in the season. Good to know this will also apply to other coaches caught in the same situation.

Agree totally Vim. He gets away with shocking behaviour in the dugout and his coaching staff aren't much better but they will keep abusing refs because of the small punishment involved.

He's always been like that - 7-8 years ago at Nomads he was the same. The old man was a ref and use to just give him as much stick as he dished out, seemed to shut him up pretty well.

Yea absolute farce. What happens if he gets carded during a NFC game? They follow through and stand him down then? Yea right. If this was a player (and I have personal experience here) they would have given 2 if not 3 games to him. How do you expect players to follow the guidelines of the "Respect" programme when coaches and managers get away with this. Braithwaite is a serial offender ffs. Bollocks.

My brother went over and talked to the ref after yet another barrage a month or two back. He said to them that he would support their complaint to Mainland with a letter for the way they were spoken to. The referee said they wouldn't make a complaint because nothing gets done and it keeps happening.

I see what they mean now.

Referee abused is not just coming from one club, stand near any dugouts in most PFL games a I think will hear abuse coming from most benches, was the case in the Chatham Cup tie today. AllWhites822011-06-18 22:57:25

He (Braithwaite) has certainly not changed.Two years ago in Nelson he called the Ar a f*****g cheat. The AR happened to be a local policeman. Braithwaite was ordered from the Technical Area and proceeded to abuse the officials from the embankment. The irony was the game was abandoned so he was able to take his position in the Technical Area the next day. No action was taken against him by Mainland as the game had been abandoned therefore the referees report did not count.

The dugouts are a real issue in the MPL. Quite often the barrier ropes are just hanging off them and every man and his dog seems to be in there. They need to be policed properly with spectators kept at least 2 meters away, this would stop a lot of the nonsense that seems to go on.
Also agree with the comment on here re the ref from Blenhiem, saw him in the Coastal v Tech game and he was pretty damn good, that was the game VimFuego refers to where Braithwaite abused him after the game.

I think you can have only 2 maybe 3 people not on the card in the technical area &  only 1 of those people are allowed to be standing at any one time.

Coach, Manager and Physio plus named substitutes are the only ones permitted in the Technical Area. Only one of the team officials is allowed to be standing and only he is allowed to issue "coaching instructions". We all know that this is not being policed properly 

Women's PL keeps on tightening up at the top end:Coastal lose again and drop to second equal with Western(scrappy but comfortable 4-2 winners over Uni),while FC 2011 goes top after defeating Woolston 4-3(Woolston have one of the strongest squads,but are very much a yoyo team).The fact that Halswell defeated Coastal shows that there is very little between 4-5 teams:all "on the day" stuff,which makes it "interesting...VERY INTERESTING!!" as Barry Davies once said...

Coastal scored a pentaly with 5 mins to go to make it 4-3, player also red carded for last defender. Turnbull scoring a few mintues later to make it 5-3.

Some bizarre calls by the linesman, who forgot a thing called advantage. Kept calling play back when Richmond were hot on attack, for stupid offsides in the previous play.

Nomads have Harry Smits coaching their MPL team for the rest of the season at least.

No complaints, if in doubt let it go, game is all about goals and excitement! Officials were good (including 4th official) and the game was exciting, everything Cup football should be. Good crowd, good venue and very good standard of football given the underfoot conditions. Coastal obviously benefited from the experience gained having tough games week in week out in the MPL. Richmond relied too heavily on 2 - 3 key players whereas Coastal were better across the park and showed greater discipline and structure. Senior Coastal players after the game (and sober) commented it was one of the most bizarre games they had played in, similar to the first playoff game last year. Score could have blown out with T hitting the crossbar yet again with a header, young Rian Hooper getting in a great diving header that drew a fantastic save from the Richmond keeper and Camel passing "passing" the ball to the keeper when it was easier to score. All in all a fair result and Richmond should have no complaints. Certainly would have given Tsetso (FC2011 coach) food for thought as he videoed the game heading into the playoffs later in the season.

Haha I was more meaning that he now knows they're beatable. I doubt whether he could replicate the style of football Coastal played so effectively to defeat Richmond. They have their strengths and weaknesses obviously like all teams. Good of him to video the game for us though and he is going to send a copy through. As it was Joe Green's last game for Richmond that will also provide a window of opportunity for FC2011 but I still can't see them getting through the play-offs.
