I drafted a letter and a petition about 6 weeks ago and put to the

about turning a council leased plot of land into just this sort of area.

Mainland Football or at least you would think would have a bit more of an ear with any council review than a few rate payers.

Hence me waiting for Mike Coggin to get back to me after leaving a message on his phone. Mainland need to know and help with what has been put out there to council, so will it be of no surprise if I don't get a call abck from MC.

The surrounding area in mention drains away in an hour or two after any heavy rain no matter how long it lasts.

Try that at Barnett, Tulett and Walter Parks.

Best drainage in the city needs to developed soon or a lost chance to do someting with it.

Locals or some of them are keen and stated to council for a reserve to be developed and a good way would be to put an overflow or specialist style/use on the area.

None of this lobbying has anything to do or input from any club but what we see as rate payers could be of use for football overall.

Let's look at how bad we are being served by coucil.

Bishopdale Park football pitch has been more like a cow paddock in mid winter so far this season. Grass has needed mowing since the start of season and now with the rain the mower would be making goat track marks if not cut yesterday. What other parks do we use that are like that?

Re: The Burbs in Central League:  Much as I dislike burbs, this is a very interesting idea Luis Garcia.  A much stronger league, a better place for the youngsters to be noticed, cheaper etc  etc.  The powers that be would'nt like it tho....

Dannygate saga reaches a head: Jordan Halligan has transferred to Nomads.

Yer I saw that on the transfers page and wondered what the story is. Pretty sure he was on the bench for Tech the other day.

The goss I heard (which is only goss of course) was that Halligan Snr was giving the Tech team a hard time in the dressing room before the real coach walked in. And when he did arrive, he told Snr to get out.

Any truth to that? Obviously something has happened and I hate stirring gossip.

Does Scottie Rd have the skinny? I'm assuming if Jordan has gone, then so has Danny?

Big whisper about APFA looking for coaches at present. Predicting coach domino effect to start very soon - affect more than one club plus mainland FTC, plus private academy providers.

Gotta feel for FC Twenty 11 today, but when they were 2-1 up all they wanted to do was sit on the one goal lead and that seemed to cost them. Once Skippy scored it looked like it'd be either a draw or a Suburbs win. Ben Wright is all class, brings himself on and nails the winner!

Updates from me.

NWRA = North west review area as being done by City Council to change zoning of these areas, area 1 is the prime plot of land for a few sand based football grounds.

Main reason would work better than either area 2 or 3 [as per council codeings] are that A1 is already leasedby council the others are private or company holdings hence wouldn't be sold for parks only development.

A1 area will need to be put to another use the time frame as a gravel pit/hard fill site and at present concrete crushing which has been in full use since EQs is comimg to an end. Any mention in the media of using this as a football zone for sand based surfaces would be a bonus to us all footballers in Christchurch. Selwyn Maister QSM has also put forward a proposal for a reserve.

Other bits from Saturday.

Halligan jnr got 15minutes vs Bays, Anndo scored in 87th minute and then had same chance a minute later only to just miss getting it down quick enough. 2 nil would have been nice but Bays not happy at all.

Yes I hear at the aftermatch function Mic Braithwaite announced that there will be team changes happening in the coming weeks. Maybe will mean the player(s) that do not show up for training do not play.

So how does that work with Kamo getting $300 a game? He's one of the non trainers.
