How many did Nomads stick past Waimak today?

Heard that it was Waimak 1 Nomads 4 and understand ChCh United defeated Parklands and Selwyn overcoming Burwood.

Nomads were 1 nil down to almost half time. When a 45 yard free kick went sailing in as the Waimak keeper horribly misjudged it, combined with the wind and the sun and it went whistling in on the full. Second half was all Nomads, the young Waimak keeper does his best, but his age shows with some of his decisions. Nomads scored with last kick of the game off a penalty.

Was nowhere near the show of a game that Nomads vs Selwyn was on Saturday

Yeah young Keeper is only 16 I believe. Lots of potential. Been having a tough time behind a leaky defence. Can't see the benefit of him playing 'up' at this age, do more harm than good to his confidence and growth IMHO

The first goal Nomads got was with the help of the strong wind Waimak played into in the first half.

Young Waimak keeper got caught out with the ball coming out of the sun plus getting some extra movement from the gust of wind that took the ball over the young lads head. A mistake yes but not as bad as the Nomads keepers error with much the same thing v Chch U who was standing on the goal line when it went in.

The Waimak lad also made a mistake coming to catch a cross for the second goal by not getting in front of the Nomads striker. A positive for him he could be pleased with his effort on getting a hand on the penalty that was hit with power, very unlucky not to keep it out.

I think with the correct coaching and if Waimak can have an older more experienced keeper training [doesn't have to be playing at weekends] with the young lad he'll be fine.

Nomads not looking convincing at the moment for all the points on the board.

Can Nomads continue this in the second round of games.

All 4 are up for grabs

Coastal need a win tonight.

Western need some points for sure. Given how they have chosen to not run a junior club and lost their WPL  they have to keep their Prems Men's team.

As a former junior player of Western (many many years ago now) it's sad the state of the club. Used to be big and reasonably successful. Family members used to collate the old team cards that were dropped off to home after games on Saturday.

Yup - I remember the hardest games we had were always against Western teams back in the day (very long days ago now)  Wasn't long ago though we were talking about the end of ChCh United as a club as well when they got banged down to Div1 (now QL) a few years back - but they seem to be working their way through to ensure club stays alive.  Western will get there I'm sure of it.

Not the first time they've been in this predicament, remember headlines in the Press in the not too distant past and the club rallied around. Can they do it again or time to talk to Nomads/Pap Redwood?

Worst I've seen Uni play in a long time, thought they started off well but it was all down hill after the 1st goal. And I don't think they had any players missing. Camel went well as well as Ali, think he adds a bit upfront for Coastal still not an out n out striker but doing well. The new centre back looks really composed n with Lil Red are becoming quite a duo. Been really impressed with Coastal younger players gud to c some of da reserve boys getting game time n holding their own. Not sure why Donte didn't play presuming it's the injury picked up against Fc as he only played last 10 against Nelson...thought him n T been going well.

One another note I actually laughed at Coach Ekow's statement about Tristan on the match report "whn he plays well the team plays well, whn he plays bad the team plays bad" wht bollocks. Zac,Matt,Dante,Ali in fact all the lads have started the season really promising n to single out one player is dissappointing particularly for a coach. A player I might add who although has gone well hasn't been outstanding at the least he's been ok/average. Against Tech he was shocking probably their worse player yet the team still played gud football. In all my time of watching Mpl I can't say I've once seen a statement like tht from JB, Halligan or any other coach for tht matter. Would hate to be a Coastal 1st team player reading tht.

I thought the attitude of the coastal supporters was disgraceful. Friday night football trying to attract crowds and you have language and chat like that! Yes Uni were average at best and handed coastal their 3 goals on a plate, yet the players and coach act like world beaters, pretty disappointing, show some class. I'm not sure how Uni imploded like that looking so good v western and ferrymead

vim, I was standing not far from your supporters as I prefer a vantage point close to the action. I could hear the chat from players, I could see the coach smiling and encouraging the antics. I'm all for a little banter but some of it was uncalled for particularly directed at their 7 I bel

lol it was you Vim giving their #7 a rev up.

Think he got light treatment compared to Chris Murphy of Bays TBF.

Fwiw Tim Tam there was a group of Coastal supporters who I went over to and asked them to tone down

(Language, inappropriate comment). Although I did laugh at the tittybar call.

Coastal third goal was good, quick interchange passing. Not sure what the coach and bench did wrong.

Now Nelson to do us a favor his arvo....

Ooh, I may have had a part in the banter against #7.  Apologies if it offended anyone.  In my defence, he did do a swing and a miss in the Premier League.

On the other side of the coin, I was complimentary about the well trimmed beard on the Uni centre back and the substitute's lovely 80's MacGyver hair do.

So it's not all bad on the sideline.

Ooooh things heating up on the sideline and at the bottom of the table!

2 points separating the bottom 4 teams and not enough polite clapping and ooohing and aahing from supporters, looks like the best season yet.

Coastal looking like the only real challengers to Cashmere in the girls and the guys? Ekow getting a massive serve from a Coastal supporter?

Alright alright alright. So im fresh off the boat here but I heard about this forum and was curious. I figured Coastal would be hot topic but am surprised to see Messiah Ekows name dropped a couple of times from a negative perspective. Im a Coastal lad through and through and im having the time of my life this season. Really enjoying it. And although im a friend of his im putting the most of it down to Messiah Ekow. After reading I asked him if he follows this forum and THANK FUCK he doesnt. The breeding ground for KEYBOARD WARRIORS to vent their jealousy or frustration for SOME? Maybe a little bias but the facts are transparent, amazing what he has attracted, created and achieved this early coming from nowhere. Players all absolutely loving, fans absolutely loving it!! What a pleasure for the league. Great chat and banter about.

As for "Bumblebee" he aint a Coastal fan. He cant be, if he is then on behalf of the Coastal train he is happily disowned. You cant come out and bag ya man with the start hes had. Hes untouchable at the minute. To the point where im going to defend him here because I dont agree. (P.S im no football expert but clearly bumblebee dont have a clue either so I can justify having pretending I am)Game 1 Uni, 1st half FC, when T plays bad in the midfield* we turn to shark, front 4 dont get service and our FBs dont get in the game. BOOM. There can still be great individual performance around him no doubt BUT his comments were THE TEAM PLAYS BAD. Soooo burn.  AND for the record the players dont a shark about reading that, if anything they understand its even a mind game for T to ensure he plays better.

Against Tech he was the worst? get fudgeed. Did Stu or Gary do anything? Did you see how much 2nd phase he was winning? haha Bumblebee oh bumblebee. I can get the video of Messiah for you if you like. Hes doing vid analyses every Tuesday im aware and the whole club and all coaches are welcome to join and learn which they do BUT id love to make sure your not invited.

"Dont see a statement like that from JB or Halligan" Oh awesome!! Cause we all want to be juuuuust like them HAHAHAHA #oldschool

Lets be honest, Messiah Ekow is raw, hes never done this before and hes handling himself rather well. He will make mistakes and ill admit it when he does but this comment from Bumblebee out of the blue is NIT PICKY as fudge. Jog on bumblebee!!! Cause this Coastal trains brakes dont work very well

Oh brilliant!! Fresh meat in the building!! :D

Maaaaate you do know this is football right? Im from the UK which im sure a lot of you are and these Coastal games are WICKED! An actual footballing atmosphere. Never seen it at this level, big ups to the Messiah. To be fair we motivate opposition just as much as our players haha but its great. The tech game was the most entertaining encounter ive ever had in NZ apart from the World cup qualifier against Bahrain. Having the Tech players run over and celebrate in our faces, LOVE IT! And they love it too. They will look forward to playing us again because of that atmosphere. THATS A FACT! Ive even heard Mainland are impressed about the crowds for Coastal games in particular. (Opposite to scaring people away dick) Our mob is snowballing pretty fast gone from 6 to 35 real quick AND COUNTING. Prob diminish a bit come winter but understandable. We have even organised two vans for the Nelson away game and are REALLY hoping for some mega cup runs. Oh yes please. Coastal is a club worthy of great support. Hopefully the domino effect is other clubs start to show more support, be great for Chch football.

Handed Coastal 3 goals? Our 3rd goal was team goal of the season holy sheit!! WATCH IT. And well you guys posted ONE SHOT so umm yeah we freaking annihilated you guys, I thought you guys were always well organized over the years? Whats changed? Haha

Players and coach act like world beaters? Haha what the? How? Thats a strange comment. Are you referring too Messiahs moonwalk at full time haha loved it, dang hes got swag dont he? Well yes we know it was a big 3 points cause now the table looks like a two horse race. Very early days and top 3 we will be ecstatic with but we can dream. To be honest I dont think this team is mature enough to push Tech all the way to the end but great foundation for next season. I know there are two VERY mouthwatering signings lined up for next year. Already opposition players have thrown their admiration to play for such a supported club. BOOM. We will chant their name Tim Tam we will chant their name. Hamish Foy deserves medals. Far out hes good.

Timtam you say the Messiah was laughing and encouraging the fans? Umm yes well I bloody hope he encourages us and makes us feel welcome. Should they not clap us off after the game either? I love it so much when the players and staff show appreciation to their supporters. Pretty standard.

You just stand on your own in your "vantage point" mate while we have a party and have great fun. CAUSE THATS FOOTBALL.

In saying this all this, I am human and a good person and there were a couple comments in particular from a group I dont know that were too far. We are trying to keep on top of this from a couple avenues. We understand children are about etc etc we dont mean to offend, we just love football and love Coastal and are in admiration of Messiah Ekow.

I will never come out and bag anyone. I will only defend and bite back. Cause Timatam and Bumblebee are out of order. Im not on a high horse but I will say we have never looked this strong before. Hopefully we can keep it up. Tech are still too strong and we need to respect that. FC I think are absolute class. So well organised and well coached it seems.

Uni can run free. So so disappointing. Loved seeing Inwood dragged after 60 hahahaha And Bays will bounce back and push us for 3rd spot they are still class.

Rant over. If anyone wants to have a dig then please do it today. I represent the Coastal train and we dont stop. #footballbanter
