Round 2 is out, get your picks in. Let's just stick to MPL huh?
Regional Football - powered by Park Life
Mainland Premier League (Part 2)
I did ask Mainland to do a push with clubs but nothing.
I know that Andrew Currie, Wanda's replacement want's to push social media for their Friday night games at English Park.
My point was that we've just kicked off both the men's and women's premier leagues and we've had sweet fudge all in terms of promotion and nothing on game day. Would be great for the many staff at Mainland (or take turns) and take an interest or put some hours in on Satdy to send out some updates or promotion stuff.
I dunno, just looking for those leading the game to assist in making our game better and more popular. Pie in the sky?
Gone are the days when we had newspaper journos that cover sports [Tony Smith and Nick Tollerton] that don't have Rugby or Horse in the name.
How often do you see Jet Ski reports in the papers? We just had the Nationals in NZ. Oh and Chch has at least one World Champion.
It's not just football that the Print/Online Fairfax Media [That's why they call it Stuff. Stuff all of any interest] give a lack of coverage to.
Good to have the Yellow Fever site so we can get all the updated news and Goss/BS.
The Press had a preview of the season on Saturday and a wrap on Monday (both online the day before) did it not? That wrap will be there all season, to boot. Also coverage of every Nelson Suburbs and Tasman United game via the Nelson Mail (with more previews there, because of extra significance in a smaller region).

NewstalkZB had a preview on Lesley Murdoch's Saturday morning sports show.
Ok. Let me try again.
Press news articles (that around 50% of the time in 2015 never made the online version) and a segment on a radio show in the morning is not 21st century football or media. Perhaps I am making a bigger deal out of it than need be however are we happy to keep on doing the same thing as previous years or do we wanna do better? I dunno, I try and do my part as a volunteer but sheesh, one week in....
I let my guitar speak for me
ZB and The Press - is Mainland stuck in the 1900s? Unfortunately Vim, it's the curse of the early adopter, being ahead of the curve. I've used Twitter since 2009 and it's brilliant for live tweeting and banter. If Mainland want fan engagement they need to be be tweeting, instgrammimg and periscoping to get young (and not so young) eyeballs following, interacting wherever they are with their mobile screen - live.
Kotahitanga. We are one.

Premier League my ass, it's just another 8 team Saturday league.
What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

I'm with you 100% on organisations needing to up their game.
The paper -> online disconnect doesn't exist anymore - but yes, that has been an issue in the past.
Gone are the days when we had newspaper journos that cover sports [Tony Smith and Nick Tollerton] that don't have Rugby or Horse in the name.
Sad thing is Tony Smith is the Sports Editor at the Christchurch Press

Yes and what happened years ago when we had a Saturday afternoon sports paper back in the dark pre digital age.
We used to get a paper that contained reports and photos of each Southern League game not a patch up from the coach or manager.
Shall not forget an on the day scoreboard of all games scores and all on the street by 5.30PM.
Mainland and some other football feds need to look hard at how backwards they are being. Have a look at the Southern Region they have reports of the Saturday SPL games up online most Saturday evenings.
And pretty sure they do a cool SPL combined programme which goes to all clubs with the team lineups, word from coaches and photos etc from the previous week.
But isn't it Rab from the ODT (who is rabid about football), who does all that?

No Rab is a freelancer who used to supply to the ODT, looks like the ODT are using their own staffers know.

Man I loved that paper.
Yes but not enough loved the Star Sports / Weekend Star or the Auckland 8 O'Clock and they are no sadly no longer published.
Yes I was a 'stringer' for the Star Sports and would watch a Southern League game then had to go to the club rooms if they had a phone. or rush to find a pay phone that worked (pre cell phone days) to ring the report to the copy takers by 4:30pm.
Round 2 action - all being played on Easter Friday
2:45pm Cashmere Tec vs. Universities @ Garrick Memorial Park (also a Hurley Shield Challenge)
3pm Halswell vs. Western @ English Park
5pm Coastal Spirit vs. Ferrymead Bays @ English Park
7pm FC Twenty11 vs. Nelson Suburbs @ Avonhead Park

Try doing that from the middle of Ashley Forest and the likes pre mobile phone days. Had to leave it and make do with getting in the Monday evening paper.
This [see below link] could be done by Mainland, as I remember the days of Woolston in the National league they had a paper printed each week with reports etc was put together by a keen footie fan.
In tipping news, only 3 people left to make their selections: FC Boy, MastJ and Scottie Boy.
Get on it!
The previous link takes me to the page but I can't get it to allow a selected pick.
I will try from another device later on or in the morning.

Yes remember that, I think that keen fan was Stuart Burns, I provided the odd or two photo for it.
