Say that to his face. Meow

Would that make a difference?

Following on from Western's reaching 500 goals last evening, Ferrymead Bays the first MPL to reach the milestone of 600 goals, (now on 601, with Cashmere Technical reaching 250 MPL goals today.

It was a splendid game to be apart of. We had a mob of 60 and TWO drums. After 20 mins I couldnt see us loosing being one nil up and ever so comfortable. Then within a shattering three minutes we gave away two pens and got a red card. We didnt know how to handle Tech with 10 men. Could anyone? Our first loss of the season.... Clearly still happy days on the train thank you all very much. 6-2 down we were still having a good time and Clapham turns to us and says. "Your 6-2 down, why are any of you still singing" my answer is the fact that we are enjoying a great season :)

Its a real shame you dont have the football smarts to know the difference between holding a lead with a man down and chasing the game a man down. Two very different situations. Chasing with a man down against players like that is tough. I was with Messiah last night, he felt they could have sat in and lost 3-1 OR play high risk and to try get something out of the game. Tough situation for the young lads to be in. We still love you COASTAL. Cant wait to play Tech 11v11 with how good we are getting !!

Meanwhile, whos going to get relegated? Glad we are done with those days and now playing with the big boys :) Full steam ahead

Clearly the lost has effected your memory as this was your second defeat of the season.

Seeing you are mates / close with the Messiah after watching the game can you pass this on:

1. tell his players not to celebrate a goal like they have won the world cup 7 minutes into the game, focus on the next 83 minutes and then celebrate at the end of the game if you win the points

2. learn how to defend against deep runs/ late runs, Tech killed you in this area in the second half

3. silly yellow cards (kicking the ball away etc) will come back to bite later in the season and on this note tell Shane de Freitas to focus on his play and not questioning every decision the ref makes, he has been doing this all season and refs will get sick of this in the end

4. there are six other teams in the league you will not win the league just by beating Tech

PS I would be worried about Suburbs seeing you have to play them twice and some of the Coastal MOB unsavoury comments towards the Suburbs coaching staff and players after the first game may just come back to bite

I would have thought in such a big match after talking up winning the league and going down to ten meant a change of game plan. Sit back, soak up some pressure if need be, frustrate the opposition and then look to punish on the counter. Me thinks that would have been a more profitable plan considering just a point would have been a win. Naievity and lack of experience meant that obviously went out the window

Really big day in the life of Selwyn United tomorrow, taking on arguably the best club side in the country. Chance of a 'Cupset'? Who would know?......but we are really pleased to have the whole club behind the 1st team tomorrow! See you there Broonie!

Is there a corner I can sit and drink the occasional beer and yell at Dan Ede (I love you Dan) heaps?  I'm amped for this game - only because I've never been to Garrick Park!

Never been a coach so unsure the difference is but does it have something to do with the 6 - 2 scoreline.

Thoughts from Satdy now I have recovered.

Really disappointed with the result obviously, as that first ten minutes was amazing. I don't think I have ever been at a club match (except maybe for our promotion to the MPL match against Richmond) that had more fans watching. It also looked like a similar crowd that watches Canterbury United in the summer, however I guess the players were similar. :-)

The action on the two penalties, and the fact I spend half the time trying to incoherently tweet, meant I didn't really get a good look on the justification of them, however from that corner and the previous one there was a whole heap of pushing and off the ball action. In the current climate of "protect the referee" it was pretty tough out of all of that action to award a second penalty I reckon. Either way, surely even the staunchest Cash Tech supporters (AW82) could say that that 3 minutes of 2 penalties and 1 send off had an influence on the final scoreline.

For those (and there seems to be heaps now) that are jumping on the "lets hassle the Coastal Train" train, good luck to you. We don't care. We are in the best spot we have ever been in our lifetime, and the digs, both personal and professional, only go to show that we have some worried or aware of their own frailties. For those offering coaching advice as to how to play against 10 men, or what should the coach had done in that situation, I say good luck to you when you are coaching an MPL team, you can make those decisions. Otherwise, keep typing. It appears there is only one forum poster on here that has the power/experience to comment on such things and I've switched off now on those. :-)

Anyways, on to support my two favourite teams today, good luck to you all.

Slushy, I am merely highlighting the fact Coastal have called themselves the "Train". Despite not having won a championship let alone a couple on the bounce to even warrant the nickname. It's just a little weak especially considering they've adopted it from another club a little further south.

Jeez, you must be a blast at parties. Fans can do what they like? How many teams who wear red in the world have a "red army"?

And in any case, CashTech dress like a team just over the way a bit too, so whatever. If it makes you happy, or more confident, then get stuck in I say.

Cashtec 3 - Selwyn 0

Uni 1 - Halswell 0 (I believe)

Game at Garrick park was a good atmosphere. Certainly a step up for the Selwyn lads, but some nice football was played.  Fairly defensive than the normal attacking football that's normally played.  Cashmere certainly showed their class with some good ball movement and one-two interplay to create their chances in the first half.  A scrappy goal in the 2nd put the game a little out of reach.

Some fairly average decisions from the man in the middle, seemed to favour the home side - but then he also missed some clangers against Cashmere as well so I guess it was consistently average from the Ref.

Good luck to Cashmere for the rest of the Cup games!

Cash Tech front up when it comes to big games. Coastal until they mature on and off the field will keep chasing Cash Tech's shadow. They have moved from the pack where they were and progressed into the top three bracket but unfortunately have talked themselves up far too early. More work to be done. Experience is everything.

AW might be able to provide some figures of MPL games played by members of each team. I imagine it's a telling stat to support your point.
