Carey's coming back?

Why are they not joining with CS as it's your part of the sticks?

If they want to get into football which they already have according to the Celebration Trust then a good junior set up would be an advantage.

Enough of the CTFC and CS talk. Time for other clubs to get some input on here.

From my point of view winning the English Cup is like winning the Johnstone Paints Trophy, a second tier comp.

Yes win something who cares who remembers and most clubs put out reserve team players on a Tuesday night.

Winning the MPL is what defines a season, second as they say is just an also ran. Bit like Arsenal eh lads.

Come on you know you want to bite back.

2nd behind a well resourced Cashmere Tech is still a great achievement in my book. Ask the 6 teams below us and I'm sure they would swap positions in a heartbeat, considering the only team we have lost to is Cashmere Tech. Winning a cup final would also be nice so all in all I don't think you can call it an "also-ran".  Anyways, English Cup isn't second tier, seeing as everyone enters (except Nelson), not many reserve players that I've seen.

Fair do to CS and the crowd you get. I'd take a winners medal in place of the runners up cup medals I got.

Something for Nomads to aim for is taking points off CTFC & Coastal.

Looking to see these MPL & Reserve teams back at Tulett Park. A huge amount of work for the coach and club to do in the off season to put out a competitive side at the MPL level mind.

No doubt a strong club in the North of the city will be good for the game & league. Great traditions & history at Nomads.

If there's one thing I've learnt this year it's that there's only one Messiah and therefore hardly any virgins.

I suppose finishing second to CTFC is something new for CS.

Oops !! but you always finish second, every time you play them.

Oops!! No you got a draw once, mind you, you had a top coaching team that day. They currently coach our reserves. A couple of very experienced, knowledgeable coaches and both part of our well resourced set up, thankfully.

When you get the chance to acquire good resources you need to recognise them as such, value them and retain them IMO.

Freds been slagging people left right n centre n you r fine with it. Brando is an absolute disgrace to football I don't care how well he's done at reserve level. At the last Coastal reserve game played at Garrick he did a wanker motion to a 18 yr old n almost got smacked by the kids dad. Thought the father could have handled it differently but thn again I don't have any kids so not sure how I would have reacted.

hi Bumblebee

I've always enjoyed your comments and thanks for the kind words. I didn't think I had any admirers from my neighbours.

Brando is a good man and like all us gets caught up in the passion of it all, he does get plenty. I don't excuse any one from Tech that goes over the top especially me . There is always 2 sides to a story from everyone .

With a name

Like bumble bee you must have originated from New Brighton. My uncle Rab loved playing for them

With just two wee rounds to go of this terms MPL, I'm wondering which players would make up a fantasy league XI in the eyes of fans, coaches and fellow players? It would be interesting to see which names regularly pop up and if it would challenge the coming Dragons team. Get picking ya'll!

I've made a quick survey which gives your opinions on coach, defender, midfielder, striker of the year. Feel free to complete it if you like. I won't post individual reports just a summary this time next week. It's obviously not scientific considering the sample of people on this forum....

Fair enough. So no slagging but some poor attempts to get one over old Vim boy. he can take it. No abuse just the odd jibe or dig.

No attempt to defend Brando, I was not there, but I saw some irony in the fact that the only time Coastal got a draw against CTFC was when he and Colin were coaching.

At the time, knowing both men well, I was firstly thrilled they were getting back into coaching. Having played with Colin and seen him coach at Rangers and also had Brando play for me at Rangers and knowing of his commitment to the club over many years, I was pleased it was Coastal they were coaching. Right or wrong, I believed it would be good for the fairly young squad at CS to have an experienced knowledgeable partnership like theirs take on the job. I was then gutted that they were let go.

Disappointment lead to the pleasure of welcoming them to CTFC where our very young reserves have flourished under their control.

We all have different standards we try to adher to

I know i'm no Chan but i'll call it here and now - FC will take a point off CS securing the title for Cash tech. In all fairness, despite Broonie's magnanimous attitude towards Westerns abilities, Cash Tech will win comfortably thereby securing the title on their own merits anyway. Nelson will smash Halswell condemning them to CCL footy next season.
