Western result shouldnt surprise anyone, mpl side coming down against last years bottom side. Im sure not many would have picked waimak over $$ United, seems to be the same old signs early on which has got to be concerning for them. waimak v halswell shaping to be a cracker given waimaks win and halswell i heard impressive today, benchwarmer im sure could confirm or deny that though. Will be a very interesting year

Yep, could have lost by more if they were playing away :)

Going forward Halswell were certainly quick and deserved the win. First half we didn’t come to play for periods. Second half more even, Halswell did miss a penalty but overall bit more open, but by then the damage was done.

Defensively I thought Halswell were opened up a little more than at times last season, however, Adam Highfield was hardly bothered. Is also early season so will be interesting to see how the season pans out. We get Western on Monday to follow up so will see how they are then

Waimak have a good record away at United so wouldn't read a lot into home or away. Don't think the money has been spent wisely though. GMc and SK totally outplayed by their younger opposition. Best referee I have seen in CCL for a number of years. Expect he will be doing an MPL game next week if assessor was on his game.

30 Mar 19:17

Who did you have as a referee Gaffa?

30 Mar 20:21

Chch Utd  dominated possession for most of the game had more shots at goal hitting the post 3 times.

Waimak s first goal was a deflected pass that was finished well with the second a long ball that was hit well.

Waimak sat deep after 15 mins and relied on long balls that were not defended well by chch Utd

The ref has a solid game and I think we won’t see him in the CCL for much longer

If chch can finish chances and defend better they will be up there come end of season with probably Western and Halswell

Not the game I watched. United's possession was mainly deep in their own half. Their centre backs had a lovely time passing the ball back and forth to each other even when they were 2 down. United had a very solid spell after Waimak took the lead in the first half, but they came out in the second half and played long ball which was very ineffective. Waimak middle three dominated which resulted in Uniteds best player joining the centre back party for the latter part of the match. Both teams had good chances late in the game. Waimak's goals were both excellent finishes.

30 Mar 22:48

few valid points

How can Waimaks midfield dominate when they were camped in in front of the back 4?

They defended well very deep and got the job done but how did there midfeild dominate when they never had as much possession and only had one shot in the second half

United must have dominated the midfield, look at the scoreboard!
Waimak got 2 goals up and then defended their lead. Reprehensible.

Good God no - we can't have teams playing to win!! The amount of possession you have isn't as important as what you do with it.

31 Mar 08:49

Leceister City for example.

What is the draw (times and locations too pls) for Monday, I believe there is a round then?

Bit of pedigree there. Both his father and uncle were good referees. Top bloke too.

Finished 2 all with Parklands having been 2 up before being reduced 10 men temporarily due to an interesting Sin Bin.

Western pulled one back, then had a pen saved before equalising as Parklands returned to 11. Parklands then had a header cleared off the line that hit the bar in the last minute, whilst Western also had chances.

Any news on other results?

No relegation in the CCL at the moment

made the short ride out to watch waimak take on halswell. Not sure how to sum it up really. waimak will prob be disappointed they didn't score in last few minutes but was the only real time they applied anything of real intent and purpose. Not sure why it took till the last 10 to do so. halswell looked by far the more threatening and positive going forward and created real problems wide and behind. Waimak I think have some decent players but didn't really threaten as lacked support defending too deep. hard to fathom the other results! what on earth is going on at $$ united, and surprised to see western slip up also. congrats to Burwood!!

02 Apr 06:38

tough old league this one possibly more so than mpl. as for the rams splashing the cash clearly not working its ok throwing money at players but needs to be the right ones.

waimak clearly had game plan that almost paid off and good luck to them

02 Apr 06:44

think someone said about leicester the other day, not a bad comparison. whatever works I guess

02 Apr 07:05

If Burwood, Waimak and ourselves at Parklands can keep taking points of the anticipated title challengers then this could become a very interesting league this season.

Scoring goals was always going to be a concern once you lose a proven goal scorer to ferrymead

02 Apr 07:11

Seen the second half of United vs Burwood. United were woeful for what they are talked about. No movement up top, looked sluggish and slow at the back after the captain left the field. I also don't understand why they continue to play out from back and keep possession in the back when 1) the other team is sitting deep not pressing the ball and 2) losing 1-0 with 10 minutes to go.

Seen 2 of the so called title contenders so far benchwarmer, thoughts on the 2 from those 2 games? has been proven that playing on the grounds less suited to the so called top teams certainly evens things up! was obviously the case today also

Very talented. Could hit Row Z a metre out from Goal.

We've played 2 of them and from those 2 one stood out more than the other, although we were without 5 first teamers that game

Parklands vs. Waimakariri - Parklands Reserve

Bit odd for a Tuesday night game innit? I'm guessing you did a typo for the other games which are at 2:30 not 12:30.

Just a shame that the CCL Reserve fixtures don't correspond for this week! (They have sorted for future weeks luckily)

Would be interesting to hear the reason for the game being moved from original day and times. I am sure other clubs would like to play on a Friday night for example if they have the facilities to do so.
