Napier 19's

Agree crap from central. potential of playing 8 games in napier on great pitches against some players born 92 ( which is a strong age group) so probably better standard than n.yl in some cases.  would have been a perfect pre n.y.l. warm up..instead of training..
just seems a waste  not having them there mind you make the satelite strong when they come back!! > havent really seen any u19s games, dont think birkenhead have a 19s  but i know that most of birkenheads first team are u19s having watched them a few times this season would say as strong as last year.

Shore actually look alright. First year back in the championship for them after winning satellite last year. Good experience at tournaments, the majority of the 19s squad played together for TGS at a school tournament last month and won it convincingly. Not sure if they have it in them to go all the way but should look at a final 8 spot at least.

Three for me, and two for them.

Quick run down for you on player qualification:

Players must be born on or after 1 January 1992

Players must be registered with the club they are playing for and have played for the club in a recognised competition  before 1 September

2 Guest players from outside the club are allowed.

Napier city most likely has the full rules somewhere on their website

Their website isn't very informative.  They email the rules to all the participating clubs' contact people though

The other rule you missed Teza is that players must have turned 15 prior to the start of the tournament, so the age range is 1/1/92 - 21/10/96 (I think, someone might want to check my maths on that).

They aren't very good. In fact they are pretty rubbish. The only good thing going for them is the new artificial turf they had put in this season.

Thought you'd be more concerned about last years semi-finalists who are in your group.

Going to be Interesting this year. I fancy Lower Hutt and Birkenhead for the final again. Rovers have a young team as usual and probably growing.. looking at maycenvale to be close to getting promoted in Satelitte.

The 3 ASB players will play. Who are these 4 going to oz you are talking about?

There are only 3 Fijians and 1 of them is too old anyway. So that's 2 if they are indeed away that weekend.

Not sure. Last year there was a Road to Napier tournament held out at Fencibles. Birko won it and got a grand for it. No idea if the same or a similar tournament is being held this year.

Think its Rubbish that Central Utd aren't putting in a team because of the NYL.. they are in no real doubt of missing on a semi-final spot because well Waitakere and Auckland with HB and Waikato? It's there semi-final places to lose. If this is the case anyway wouldn't it be smart to put a Central team in with the majority of those Auckland City players so they can play together and gel a bit more? Just an Idea. Petone lose 3 players and of course Lower Hutt will be strong.. Whats Birkenhead like this season?

Shows just how clueless you are mate as ACFC havent made semis of NYL for last 2 seasons and seen as you can only have 2 guest players at the tournament how can they include most of the NYL players in the Central squad (at least 1/2 the NYL squad are non Central players)

Ok, Sorry for not being entirely correct, although you did state that the coaching stuff and several players were involved with ACFC. I don't know these players but considering most players at central would be close to starters you could pull in two guest players and get some more game time together. No hard feelings. NYL is over rated but is still not long enough but back to the Napier tournament.. Maycenvale don't have any standouts just won the HB knockout cup and federation cup with there prems who are decent young players. Birkenhead I feel will win again depending on the players left over from last year

Apparently A.C.F.C are having a camp that labour weekend!, and any players who wanted to go with there  own club's down to napier arn't allowed and if they do wont be in the N.Y L squad.    Birkenhead from what i believe could be pretty much as strong as last year!

Andy Bevin played for NCR last year but not sure if the NZFC had kicked off at that stage last year. Don't HBU have an away game that weekend?

Yeah it's fairly average for some teams who might lose their key players. At this stage our team is likely to lose our best two players which changes things massively for us. There is a rule that says that teams who lose players to an ASB Prem team can add an aditional guest player but by the time those contracts are finalised there aren't a great deal of quality players left or available for other reasons. I doubt NZF thought of the Napier tournament because they probably don't see it as a big issue but I think they should in the future.

I'm not sure as to the how the strength of the teams that clubs put out in the Upper Hutt tournment compare to the squads they are taking to Napier but the finishing positions were as follows.

Final Ranking
1 Miramar
2 Stop Out
3 Lower Hutt
4 Napier City Rovers
5 Island Bay Utd Paul Muollo XI
6 Upper Hutt
7 Petone
8 Wellington United
9 Olympic
10 Tawa
11 Waterside Karori
12 Wests
13 Lower Hutt Development
14 Upper Hutt Development
15 Island Bay Utd Development XI
16 Wainuiomata
