If UH has the best keeper coach why they have conceded 40 or more goals... Just wondering ?? And it's not about UTD vs UH, or player development this dicusion is  about  the Player commitment....She. Is the best keeper on the league , anyway.....

Better then Curry at Marist - current Under 20 NZ keeper?

Now that united coach resigned, WCL has only 2 top coaches, Massey coach and the  Karori Coach......

Upper Hutt 2 Lower Hutt 0

I hear they (lower hutt) had quite a dressing down from their coach after a very one-sided affair against the toon... Wendi officially back in action now yes?

Permalink Permalink

Not the first time. Wendy has played a few games (and the reason cushla tranferrred there according to the earlier poster) so I assume she has come out of retirement yet again.

Corina pulled off some good saves in a man of match performance yesterday. She is definitely a better keeper than Cushla btw

Ok.  I guess the Lower Hutt girls didn't respond to well to the talk.
Or maybe Upper Hutt didn't play it back to their keeper http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z83kEUkeA34 (watch at 3:05min)
Either way - I guess we will see through the season if her footwork improves (or if she gets given the chance to improve it)...

that entire video is like a catalogue of LOLs for the keeper- even her placement for the very last attack (which missed). a very bad day at the office

Everyone has their bad days, no need to be harsh people! Obviously not that big a deal she has moved to UH then if everyone thinks she is pants (which is def wrong), How did the other teams do anyone??

We should rename this the Cushla thread. I've seen her have some howler moments but I have named her oppo man of the match more often than not. Goalkeeping is something you can improve greatly with hard work - so hopefully her new home will mean good things for NWL keeping stocks.

There is a article in manawatu standard about Massey v valeron. 0-0 at half time I think - floodgates opened in second half.

Here is linky

I'm Picking it going to be Brooklyn vs Wanganui Athletics in the play offs this season. Would open the Central League up by having another trip away in this League. Will this League stay as an 8 team league or will the clubs and Central League Committee try to make it a 10 team league next season?

Wanganui won't enter any playoffs

But they are very strong this year in both the wanganui and the manawhetu leagues would be a shame if they didn't try.

Manawhetu League:

POS TEAM P W D L For Agst GD PTS 1 Wanganui Athletic Women's 1sts 7 6 1 0 92 4 88 19Wanganui League:

Wanganui City had big hopes of joining the men,s central league until it came to meeting costs of so many trips trips to wgtn. The women mat decide the same. It's not only the $ cost but times as well.

Looks like WDU have registered their import this year #canofworms :)

Massey certainly dealt to them in the Cup - seems like they are mega keen to go one step further than last year and win it.

Tight game wharf v seatoun til we had a blow out in the second half of extra time

Heard the diamonds import has international experience. Had an outfield player in goal in the cup game.

looks like Whetu is Utd's new keeper. She played Central Lge (was actually called Prem then) four years ago.

Been playing socially past couple of seasons but filled in for our cap 1 winning team a couple times last season. She has some skill.

Lower Hutt jump over Marist and Utd have a win over Valeron to leave UH at the bottom. Very tight.

Despite getting beaten by Massey 5-1 away Upper Hutt will probably be reasonably happy with the improvement after they got beaten 17-0 in the first round at home!

they play Wgtn Utd this weekend. Wasn't it a bit fiery last time? And that before Cushla moved.

Yes they play Saturday at Mid Day at Newtown  Park.  Not really sure about what happened last time but given respective positions on the table should be a good battle. I would tip Upper Hutt to edge it though.

I think Wgtn Utd will win this one.  Watched them on Sunday and the new striker is very handy.  Was a class above everyone else on the field really.  Also, being able to play Michaela Robertson out wide means that they will get in behind teams more often.  They need to cut out giving the opposition "free" goals from sloppy play at the back though.

I think Utd will win by 2 or 3.
