Interesting to see some old forumite names in this necro'ed chat.

Anyone seen Big Pete recently?

And yeah, you'd think we've got the keeper spot sown up already, at least one mid and maybe a defender or two too.
I'm still around, mate.
I remember you too Marto!

Nice addition. Macey Fraser to get in, maybe Barry, but I can't see any other NIX players getting the call up.

would be great to see those two get selected, even as part of the bench. Unfortunately I cant see anyonme from the Nix being selected. The squad will be dominated by Sydney, City and Victory players. I'd guess that even CCM and WU players will; get overlooked.

The ALW GF is the 4th/5th of May. Depending on when their contracts end, a number of top players might have already headed overseas to play. So there might be a few surprises.

Paulsen and Rufer starters, Kosta very likely, and Old as a young talent showcase? Fraser hitting top bins from every set piece? Lock it in

With a bit of luck we get no Nix-M players in the team to face Newcastle, as they'll be a bit busy that weekend...

Can anyone very kindly send me a link for pre sale tickets for the Newcastles games? Planning to head over but can’t lock anything in without knowing I can actually go to the games!

I’ve purchased my tickets for both games!

If anyone wants the link to buy now, let me know.

I've noticed on the voting website it doesn't seem to have a limit on the amount of votes one person can submit...

So if anyone has a day off (say, Easter weekend) and has nothing better to do you could theoretically spend hours voting for 11 Nix players for the men's and women's voting non-stop.

But we don’t want that, as we’ll be playing the grand final at the ROF that weekend…

*Fan voting does not guarantee player selection into the A-Leagues All Stars squads. Coaching staff will take into consideration players with highest fan votes, with the decision on the final squad made by coaches and the APL Commissioner. The A-League All Stars Women squad will consist of 19 players and be subject to injury and availability. The initial A-League All Stars Men squad will consist of 23-26 players, with a final squad of 18-20 players subject to injury, availability and participation in the 2024 Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s Grand Final.

So you could vote for OVH a billion times, just means the coach selected has to consider him but doesn't have to actually pick him.

A shame this game clashes with the Final - arguably a lot of the best players in the league won't get to play.

Poor timing.

For the A-League All Stars Men, the electrifying pair of Nestory Irankunda and Daniel Penha have been named as the first two squad members as voted by fans.

The A-League All Stars Women has sent out a statement of intent to Arsenal FC Women with the announcement of Melbourne Victory’s Alex Chidiac and Melbourne City’s Hannah Wilkinson as two founding players of the first-ever All Stars Women squad.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

Could be the last we see of an English club coming down for an All Stars fixture.

The FA is doing all it can to piss clubs off currently.

Why shouldn't clubs be allowed to go overseas to play friendlies - it brings in revenue and expands their brands which has private entities they should be able to do.

I'd imagine this would come under a restriction of trade or similar law infringement.

It's a situation likely exacerbated by the upcoming Euros. If they weren't being played this year it's likely we wouldn't have heard of such a proposal until they next rolled around.

I can see where they're coming from on player workload and welfare though. But these are big clubs, and there's nothing to stop them from sending a lot of reserves/youngsters interspersed with a few more recognisable and established names.

Penha withdrew cuz he has gone back to Brazil for personal reasons.

Surprised no Davila at this stage.

Never even heard of the first 4 blokes. Assuming players still in play-off contention to be added later?

Otherwise 3 defenders and 5 forwards might seem a tad unbalanced…

Her new club NWSL Utah are struggling. They will want her settled in ASAP.

It seems that the APL knew that something was coming down the pipeline and that's why certain outstanding Macarthur players didn't make this team

Looking at the make up of the ALM All Stars, Paulsen/Payne/Wootton to get call ups? Hard to sneak Kosta in with so many other attacking options.
