1 player out of 32 though? They couldn't throw us a bone even just the sake for a proverbial 'pat on the back'?

It's the 32 with the most votes. If a Phoenix player didn't get voted in then tough luck. Although Hernandez might have gone close..

Football Federation Australia (FFA) today revealed Central Coast Mariners defenders Josh Rose and Storm Roux, Sydney FC duo Sasa Ognenovski and Ali Abbas, and Western Sydney Wanderers’ Matthew Spiranovic & Tomi Juric as the first six players to join captain, Alessandro Del Piero in the Foxtel A-League All Stars 2014 squad.

surely they should have had some kind of rule that every vote has to include at least 1 player from each team. It seems that fans of any team can vote for their starting 11 to be made up entirely of players from the team that they support, which is something that I am sure that a number of idiots would have done.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Ali Abbas? He's shithouse.

He was rather good last season, mainly filling in as LB for Sydney.

Voted by the fans, the Victorian-based trio of Melbourne City forward David Williams and Melbourne Victory duo Besart Berisha and Gui Finkler are the latest to join the squad of All Stars coach Josep Gombau.

10 Jul 00:08

So far three players who I selected for the bench have made it in. No others. Here was my squad:

10 Jul 06:34

Adelaide United will be represented by Eugene Galekovic and Marcelo Carrusca who’ve been voted by the public into the Foxtel A-League All Stars squad to face Juventus in Sydney on August 10.

10 Jul 23:26

Broich, a two-time Johnny Warren Medal winner, will on Friday be named alongside his Brisbane Roar captain Matt Smith in the fan-voted team for next month’s clash with the Italian giants.

11 Jul 00:36

No one else voted for the HAL All Stars? Interested to see other teams. It does seem that they are making sure at least one player represented by each club. I only had 5 clubs represented by my team.

Injuries and transfers have culled the field a bit. 16 are voted for, 4 are picked by Gombau afaik.
15 Jul 03:38

Sydney FC forward Bernie Ibini has been selected in the Foxtel A-League All Stars squad as one of head coach Josep Gombau’s four wild card picks for the match against Juventus at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium on Sunday 10 August 2014.

Well if  Ibini is average then what does that make our players.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Plus the Og Monster is immense. Would happily take him at the Nix.

He held them together towards the end of the season. Shame he's as old as Methuselah.

All Stars now with added Riera - some interest for us Nix supporters now.

Patrice Evra has just signed for Juve - must be a chance of him coming since Juve will be well into their pre-season by the time of the All Stars game.

I wonder if the game will be televised here?

Bound to be lots of streams anyway.

My bad, I just remembered watching it online cuz it wasn't on Sky.

They did have the game as part of Manchester United's preseason (they had like 5 of their preseason games) so it may be unlikely that they have this years game

I am the last person in a position to cast aspersions, but Berisha looks a right fat Bastard in that shirt

23 Jul 02:25

Have you seen the back?

It has a massive Yellow box of doom.

28 Jul 00:39

Jade North replaces Spiranovic, who is having surgery and out for 2-3 months.

28 Jul 11:35

That fucking staggers me that Jade North can make this squad. The only reason must be his combination with Matt Smith.

Players who played CB last year better than Jade North and not selected:

  1. Dura
  2. Siggy
  3. Michael Thwaite
  4. Hyphen
  5. Slower than a wet week Boogaard
  6. Pretty boy Zach Anderson

I would almost have Kisnorbo in there instead (almost)

Jebus, he wasn't even the best ex-nix player playing at CB last year. McKain was better.

In case you have forgotten, and it is not, by any means their fault alone, we shipped 52 goals last year. To have one of our back four in there is plenty tbh.

28 Jul 21:09

To be fair, as pants as he was for us, North was reasonably solid for the Roar last year. I would have put Hyphen ahead of him (again a surprise) based on last years form though.

28 Jul 23:34

I think you are all forgetting that this All Stars squad is in no way intended to be an inditement on how well players performed in the league last season.

02 Aug 06:32

Perth Glory defender Michael Thwaite has been called into the Foxtel A-League All Stars squad for the clash with Italian champions Juventus at ANZ Stadium on Sunday 10 August.

Thwaite replaces Sydney FC defender Sasa Ognenovski.

Received this response today from Sky about TV coverage of the All Stars game (on Fox in Australia at 9.30 pm NZT Sunday):

"Thanks for your email.

This game doesn’t fall under our current deal, but we are checking with our sports department and will get back to you with an update."

10 Aug 02:21

It should be on Sky for free. :)
