For those who watched the whole thing, how did the game feel prior to the red cards? Are CCM likely to romp home in the second leg?

I didn't think the 2nd red was worthy of even the second yellow. 2-1, not out of it yet. only just over 14k in attendance.
Just under 14k I think, so even worse

Except for the first ten minutes when CCM had lots of good chances I thought it was a pretty even affair. The thing about Sydney is that even with the huge loss of Lolley and now Rodwell they still have enough talent to catch CCM out in the second leg. I was impressed with how hard they fought in the last 15 minutes when down to nine men. Keeping it to a 2-1 loss still gives them plenty to play for.

Don't write Sydney off. Nothing to lose and yes, they could score 2 goals. A bit unlucky not to last night. 1 Goal disallowed for a slight offside by a player not involved with the initial go at goal.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Talay is such a loser. Mediocre for 4 straight years with us (except for maybe 4 good months in his first season). And can't even draw against the Mariners two days after they flew halfway across the world in cattle class. Really pathetic.

As far as I know CCM flew business class. Cannot remember where I read it (newspaper portal, not social mediia).

Nah, it's the opposite - they flew cattle class:

And that’s not even including the weekly demands of the A-League, which are tough enough on their own. They’ve flown economy class the whole way, too, and nobody has complained. “Business class? Honestly, it’s not us,” Simon said.

Thanks for clarifying - I must have misread it.

Faghani doing a reverse Elder here. An accidental boot to the head for Doka and Faghani doesn’t stop play and angrily chases him off the field.

Did Wooton get his yellow card for slowing down play during a substitution rescinded?

0-0 at full time between CCM and Sydney.

Means Gosford hosts the GF against Victory next week.

Bullshark call to rule off the Sydney goal.

The angle from behind the goal, shows that Kaltak was clearly impeded/slowed down by the offside SFC player. Without that impediment he may haver got back faster to prevent the goal going over the line.

Tough on SFC, but that causes enough doubt to disallow the goal. Uffie post match not happy though.

Well done Mariners, and great for their fans and community they finally get to host a Grand Final. Unjust that they have had to hold them in Sydney until now. Right decision this time by the APL.

A 'small club' like the Nix, hopefully they pull off the treble. Great feat if so. I gave them little chance of doing it a month ago, and now it's so close for them. But the VUC will be tough.

In 2024, the Victory have won 5 out of 20 games (in Normal Time). CCM have won 19 out of 26 games. Kinda astonishing that Victory are in this position but they won the 2 Finals matches in extra time/pens that really count.

"The two best defensive units in the league". Bugger off Harper, not even statistically close in Victory's case.

Excellent cut back from Barcellos. He's been good since he came on.

And Nisbet, well what can you say, he's a superb little player.

Honestly think Barcellos shanked his shot for the assist. I'm probably wrong tho.

Edmondson celebrates his 2nd in front of the VUC fans! They don't react well.
Congrats Mariners. Great to see them win.

Maybe Corica will revitalise Brimmer. He's had a very average season.

Nix's loss aside a great final series I thought. Full houses the last few weeks. Hopefully APL can use it to get a much better broadcast deal, when it's next due to expire.

Poppa cursed to never win the toilet seat. Nice shot of guy with a Vanuatu flag in the stands.

Congratulations Mariners. The resilience they have shown this season even after losing their top scorer through serious circumstances and having to play some important games within a short time has been incredible.
