That's 3 GF losses for vuck in the last two years, imagine that's gotta do something to their morale

I'd like to think so as a I really don't like them as a club. Went to a few of their games back in the day when living in Melbs. I'll be kind and call their fans unpleasant. Plus they had Muscat  (not Manny) back then.

But they openly talk about their past success, and their expectations to win trophies. They don't care what others think of them. Winning is all that matters. They will just see these losses as hiccups, and expect to go again next season.

For my 2 cents worth, that had to be the dirtiest Grand Final I have seen. Kelsey lost control after 15 minutes. I reckon City were worth 4 red cards (Leckie especially) and the Victory 2. The last 15 minutes was like watching Wrestlemania. A crap Grandfinal. Auckland matched the attendance for their home Semi.

Wrexham double their money.  Good stuff.

Also wasn't aware that if the match ends in a draw they go straight to penalties.

37,020 was the official crowd. So biggest crowd of the season for any ALM side.

Being pedantic has to be given its the first game played. Didnt the season and contracts finish on 30th June so new season starts 1st July. So next games in new season will be Australian Cup games. 😉

Yeah that surely doesn't count for last season which finished well over a month ago.

Three for me, and two for them.

Wrexham 1 Vuck Nil. 41 mins gone.

Weird that they didn't put the names on the shirts..
Players like Ollie Palmer who currently wears the number 9 likely won't be there when the season starts (if the club get their way) - they just signed Ryan Hardie who usually wears 9 but has currently got 18 for this tour. It's likely he will change once Ollie Palmer is moved on.

There's a few others this will potentially happen with and if they put names on for preseason, fans buying the new shirt and getting names on the back might be disappointed when they either leave or have a completely different number come game 1 of the season

No names on shirts is because it is this seasons new kit for them and squad numbers/names have nit been finalized.

I should have phrased it better, my bad. Even tho its the first match of the 25/26 season, it will probably be the biggest crowd any ALM side plays in front of.

Glory vs AC Milan on the 31st July maybe has the highest chance of beating it. I doubt Sydney FC vs Wrexham will top it.

Looks like a good crowd in the stands for a Tuesday night.

Also wondering if Sydney FC tent is quiet since no kit changes, whereas Wrexham have just released a new one?

https://www.friendsoffootballnz.com/2025/08/04/report-finds-significant-improvements-in-a-league-discipline-var-decisions/

An end-of-season review has found that 98.8% of VAR decisions were deemed correct in the men’s A-League.

Football Australia have released a report for the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season, “showing clear and measurable improvements on the previous season in both decision-making accuracy and officiating performance.”

FA’s referee coaching team carried out the review.

“With only 48 VAR reviews (44 less than the previous season) across 1,556 on-field decisions and a low 4% intervention rate, the figures reflect a high level of confidence in on-field calls and the effectiveness of the VAR system,” the report says.

The review also shows disciplinary outcomes had significantly improved compared ot the previous season:
  • Yellow cards per game dropped 12.8%.
  • Red cards fell by 56.8%.
  • Second yellow card dismissals were down 13%.
  • Rates of red cards for Serious Foul Play and Denial of Goal Scoring Opportunity remained stable, showing consistent application of laws in high-impact incidents.

this doesn't mean anything, is rather subjective, other than maybe achieving an outcome they wanted.

Edit: Literally what they wanted:

"What to expect from match officials in 24-25

We want to let a bit of physicality back into the game, while still protecting the players. So you’ll see the referees trying to manage situations, trying to bring the game to life, play good advantages. Then you’ll see VAR only intervening when it’s necessary to do so, when the referee is clearly wrong. "

My Iranian near neighbour told me that Alireza Faghani reffed the CWC final between Chelsea & PSG. Some kudos for the ALM, and a great photo below.

It seems bizarre that to see such a stickler for the rules as Faghani, next to Trump, a man for whom everything is negotiable and for sale.

Probably should be in a (new) 25/26 version of this topic, but does anyone know when the actual fixtures for 25/26 A-League(M) will be released?
Was early August last year. Got some life planning to do, and can't miss those home games!

I know, I know, its serious!

No one knows for sure. Issues with the turf at Moore Park in Sydney apparently a major factor in the hold up.
