I’m glad that it has taken Pine commentating on AFC games for people to realise he is a terrible commentator.

Honestly I would rather listen to Harper then him

Give the man a break, imagine how hard it was to commentate the Nix games this year? He got a bit overexcited which is OK. Spoonly on the other hand annoys the shark out of me.

Bit more than just being over excited though you can accept stuff said in the heat of commentary. But Piney has said stuff on the radio and on social media like "never been seen  in NZ before" that just makes you shake your head.
Guess the big city lights have turned him.

Melbourne Derby Grand Final, 2nd one in A-League history

Hard to decide who to support. I refuse to support victory because of last year but supporting oil money also feels somewhat dirty

Judging by the semi final attendances, might be the lowest one yet for a final. Anything less than 25k is almost criminal.

Victory v City will fire them up more than anyone v Western United. You’d hope.

I've always had a grudging respect for Victory (plus a one night stand last night). Established and well-supported club with an air of arrogance - I said respected, not liked!
So may back them against M City, although City are finding form at the right time. Hopefully the big crowd returns to AMI Park.

I know, I know, its serious!

APL are desperate for cash and are overcharging for finals tickets (relative to the demand for these tickets in the Australian market currently). But Victory v City got 22k in the elimimation final one week before Victory v Nix got 15k in the semi last year. Victory v AFC got around 15k in terrible weather last week so I am expecting a healthy if not completely sold out AAMI.

The last 5 GFs have all been sub 27k.

2 restricted by Covid crowd rules (2020 & 2021), and last year it was played at Gosford, max capacity 22k.

But only 22k turned to watch WU upset MC in 2022.

Prior to all that, plenty of big 40k plus crowds.

First time these two Melbourne teams will have met in a Granny?

This really is a fantastic video of the Rogerson 'goal'. Even shows the Assistant in the perfect spot to see it cross the line.

Seeing Corica spit the dummy and Hay with a look of Thunder on his face was worth tuning in for the last 10 minutes. 😁😁

The AR doesn't get to the line until well after the ball is struck...

Would sure hate to be hung on that evidence. Corica and McFlynn tho….ahhh….

I did feel for Rogerson and May who are wholehearted, no BS footballers who you want at any club and you turn up to watch. Both have been sensational this season and this…well again…surely any doubt goes to the attacking team…?

Looked a line ball to me, not the whole ball crossing the line, not even in the air. Dodgy call imho.

Gotta love football see for me i thought it wasnt over before he crossed it but swung back after being crossed. Just checked the match review seems the result was 2-0 to Victory which for some of us Yellow and Black eyed Nix fans is a great result even if it was match official assisted. 😁😁

But he's in the spot when the ball is in the air which is when he has judged it to have crossed the line.

If it was given, VAR wouldn’t be chalking it off on the evidence we’ve seen right?

The peeps with the flags saw it out
The happy dude with the cell phone camera recorded it from a slight angle going out
It seems that var did not have line cameras
Not enough to turn over on field decision
Carry on and try and score a more conclusive goal next attacking run knight riders
But they didn’t
Oh well
As I often say about the nix. There’s always next season.

(Or the var guy is a closet victory fan or a league didn’t want a final in NZ or whatever. I’ll get my tinfoil hat now).

Though I do like the section where you get your alcohol for free. That seems fairly economical, provided you get in early…

The semis were more?

APL really don’t help themselves sometimes do they.

Three for me, and two for them.

Yep A$75 for the first leg, not sure about the second. And no free alcohol either!

(At least that’s what I paid on the first day of public sale, it may have been cheaper for members’ pre-sale or later on when they saw that sales were slow.)

Genuinely don't know who wins the Johnny Warren tonight

Verstraete - ineligible cuz he copped a ban for his straight red card
Teague - Very consistent but I dunno how many 3 pointers he would have got
Jakolis - Will be 3 pointers or nothing, on his day he was exceptional
Milanovic - Fantastic to start & end the season, anonymous in between

Seen Sakai & Borrello mentioned but I dunno about those two.

If pushed, I would lean towards Teague.

Nah, from that video the ball was out.

The Ball was out. And in anycase, the linesman thought it was out, and VAR had no evidence to overturn the decision.

Coricas none stop moaning is pathetic and embarrassing , and he should be censured.

Who do I support in this instance?

Sure Vuck knocked out Auckland but they still knock us out a year ago too. But supporting City doesn't feel right either. Do I just pray the Mariners somehow win it again?

Couple of stills here. One of the ball leaving the foot. Another a split second later.
Both look in IMO. This isn't what a ball curving behind the line looks like.

I mean our first penultimate final appearance they broke the deadlock by slapping the ball into the goal by hand. Welcome to the A league.

And I don’t remember Ricki behaving like Corica or Hay. But I guess he wasn’t a winner like them. 😁

I think it's later than these stills that it's been judged to go out - more when it's above the goal.

Also got to take into account that from this angle the ball will appear further infield whilst in the air than it actually is.

Two stills show nothing, especially given the angle of the camera isnt directly in line with the ball or the by-line itself. End of the day the assistant thought it crossed the line which means it must have been close. Corica is a muppet getting all worked up about it, it happens, its football and he's embarrassing himself and AFC by ranting and raving like a fan.
