Yeah perhaps Morgan would come in if Terry was willing to sell the whole thing, but untill then I doubt many people would ewant to effectively be business partners with him
Remember the license and authority to run the club is not actually Terry's to sell.Terry could sell the company that runs the Phoenix, if any one wanted to buy it.
Looking at the recent past -Jets- there seemed to be a definite process.
The FFA took the license off previous owner Con Constantine ( who was in serious financial difficulties that threatened the viablity of the club) and announced that Nathan Tinkler had stepped in as the new owner.
This process may vary slightly given FootballNZ hold the license, but essentially its likely something similar would happen.
I hope it doesn't come to this and Terry can sort it.., we will see.
I would be surprised if interested parties hadn't already contacted NZF and/or the FFA and that, if Terry's negotiations are not successful, these step forward.

I thought NZF didn't hold the A-League license anymore and it had been handed over to Century City Football 100%?
David Mulligan is definitely good enough to do a job somewhere in the A-League. He didn't play over 150 games in the English Championship and League One by accident. But the trick is to be the right player, at the right club, playing in the right system, for the right coach, at the right time innit?
An Auckland franchise is a lovely thought but not right now.
The FFA really needs to sort the A-League out soonish.

That said, I am all for a second NZ franchise. I don't care if it is based in Auckland or Christchurch or Hamilton or wherever. As long as it is well structured and well funded and well run.

He was in an A League squad and wasn't deemed good enough to get on the park. He also wasn't snapped up by another A League franchise when the Nix got shot of him. Ricki isn't always right but I'm with him on this one.
To get in an Aussie team though Mulligan comes in as an import. That means he has to be considered good enough to take an import spot, and they tend to hold on to those for what are thought to be top line players (yes I know there are examples of import donkeys, but it is the principle, not the practice I am talking about)
Wheras lots of the Aussie players in the squads are journeymen, and Mulligan wouldnt look out of place amongst them.

Firstly I doubt it would be viable financially, and secondly, a lot of us up here support the Nix. I for one would continue doing so. What the hell else would I do with all this merchandise?!

In a small country with only 2 professional teams,you can't tell me that it wouldn't be considered a derby. Especially with the tension between Auckland and Wellington football wise (with varying degrees of banter and seriousness. I.E "jaffas" to...."knitting circle")
I am not saying there is no rivalry. I am not saying it wouldn't have added spice. I am not saying there would not be tensions played out.
I'm just saying it's not a Derby. You don't have to be in England to have a Derby. Milan has derbies, Madrid has derbies, New York has derbies, Rio de Janeiro has derbies...
Sky is promoting the Super 15 clashes between the Blues and the Crusaders as a "derby" now too. It's simply not. It's a 'local' clash, sure, but it's not a derby match. That term has a meaning and it's two teams from the same city playing.

Good point Dave... I always thought that when people said "East Anglian Derby" that they had implied little single quote marks around the word 'derby' to acknowledge that it wasn't actually a real derby match... but that in East Anglian terms it was as big a match as you can get...

Not conclusive. Because that's the way it is (shock, horror, Wiki could be right). Proximity is pretty much a must have - and in A-League terms, you could argue a case for the Kiwi-Derby. Appears though that in modern usage, rivalry and derby get confused,
