Don’t quite understand how Brimmer is responsible but I guess you are just confused as usual what’s going on.
AFC have to have thirteen home games in NZ’s biggest bustling city. It’s a busy place so occasionally these double ups and competition will happen.
I daresay however the day they take a game to the Tron or elsewhere in the season, it won’t be the last game of the season. They would want to say good bye to the likes of Brimmer at home.
Thought Auckland could've scored 3 or 4 today and won't be losing too much sleep over the result. First goal, Dan should've done better but the ball not only sits up for the attacker it spins into the perfect position to strike. Second goal a bit of a pinball that lands at the attacker's feet, who looked for all money offside.
Today was Sakai's most noticeable absence, Elliot was getting done. Randall should've done better in front of goal a few times especially his 1v1.
Typically atrocious refereeing. Thought the high boot was for all money a penalty against. Meanwhile, Cosgrove turning a defender on the edge of the box and getting taken out isn't a yellow. But 30 seconds later Randall holding a defender back miles away from anything is.
Shocking conditions from the 80th minute and really should've been abandoned.

PS: Brimmer is a midfielder
he's vice captain and in charge while Sakai is injured so surely the repsonibility of crowd numbers and weather and the loss lies with him, maybe then Corica, or Becker perhaps.
AFC will never take games out of Auckland, doesnt seem like they have any desire to grow their fanbase beyond their own city.
1. When Auckland scored, Cosgrove did not go and celebrate with the team, instead he jogged back to halfway. Even turning down gesture from Elliot to run over to the corner. 2. No policing on the covered areas in the stands. Halfway through the second half, the covered bits of the east and west stands were full, the uncovered stands were empty, and the only people in the rain were The Port singing . "Stand Up if you can't swim".
An interesting dilemma for Auckand FC bean counters. Do you let everyone take cover so they come back again, or do you run the risk that people will cotton on and only buy uncovered tickets.

Watching on TV from Wellington, I suspect to allow spectators to take cover, on the part of the marshals, was based on common sense rather than anything else. I doubt they will let it happen in fine weather

Refereeing wasnt all as one sided as you suggest, again Cosgrove got away with some shark he really shouldnt be allowed to. Think there could be some trouble next week if he tries some of the stuff he tried on LKH in the 1st Derby on James, cant see him taking it as meekly as LKH did.
Team looks so lop sided towards the left hand side at the moment on attack - even more then usual.
Defensively on the right we are also starting to seriously miss Sakai for his strength and organization.
Howieson should never be any where that starting line and in particularly in advance positions.
Believe against the Nix’s high line, that if May is still not hundred per cent, that Rogerson should be played on the right and Brook played in the 10.
Nice to see that the crowd was above 10k on a crap day.
Attendance wise they will want the win next week to keep the attendance momentum and ensure people come back.
Should be a very close derby with a goal in it for either team.
AFC are now discovering that having key players out and not fielding a settled 11 is really disruptive. Thats what the Nix have had to put up with all season. They havnt looked great at all this season. Even their faibled defense looked shakey in this game. The attack looks unbalanced. They seem fixated on the big target man and its not working.

I didn't say it was one sided at all - I said it was crap.
My wild conspiracy theory is that all the A-league referees are spot fixing over yellow cards because when they do/don't makes absolutely no sense.

We or they? Are you a AFC fan or a Nix fan? You can be claiming "we" for both teams.

are you so loaded with fans that you can afford to keep questioning this guys support? seems an odd course of action.
Did the Port start off a chorus of singing in the rain? I reckon that would've been fun. Was it fold or humid? Did Santa get pissed on too??
Your answers in order: 1) yes, but to a different tune 2) it was humid, then fold, then humid; 3) the rain came down just at the time the Santa parade finished, which I credit to the power of Jesus Christ
Ramming liberal dribble down your throat since 2009 This forum needs less angst and more Kate Bush threads
If someone has been an YF poster (on this forum) for a long time, but considers themselves now primarily an A-FC fan, all good and no harm done. They can attend A-FC games, cheer on the team, and yet still wish the Nix all the best except of course in the derby, and I see that as normal and understandable. I welcome them all here if they mind their Ps and Qs and appear even-handed in their comments regardless of their new loyalties. The respect needs to flow in both directions, or at least it should. This forum is a great online community also, among others, for the reasons of having fairly high standards of public discourse.
totally agree - Doloras for one, has been a staunch Nix fan from the get go, but now supports AFC, no issue with her at all. My beef with this so called Aucklandphoenix person is that they are possibly the loudest voice in the anti-welnix crowd, along a multitude of anti-nix rhetoric and clear bias towards AFC. Yet when called out for now being a clear AFC fan, they have denied it, and yet continue to use "we" when referring to AFC and their support of the team. This forum is a Wellington Phoenix supporters forum first and foremost, allowing non-nix fans to post is nice but when their content is almost 100% anti the club and team we love then I object to them being here! Despite their 15 yr tenure, they have clearly turned against the Nix and are very pro AFC.
Dear AFC & to The God of Football, Please, NO big storms to be unleashed this weekend in Auckland so that both teams get a chance to play their football.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Always liked this forum , you've made a lapsed ACFC fan a happy if somewhat confused person ... still not confused enough to support a Trump supporters club ....Mainland FC

Though calling him a target is a bit unfair , what with targets being useful and all...austin111

If you go back in my history on more then one occasion I have said I support both teams - like many here.
I believe you likely knew that before you were called on it by Buffon but hey don’t let some written evidence stop your narrative.
Do you really think I would have watched 24 Nix games against Australian teams last year when the team was piss, if that was not the case? Trust me I have better things to do then chat to you 😂
Being a supporter however doesn’t mean you should be blind to serious problems and just swallow them. If you follow football you would have seen supporters turning on coaches or owners and even booing them. Sometimes that has resulted in change. Are they real supporters? On the whole, yes and they probably care more for their club then those who sit there in silence and lap it up.
If you are that type of supporter then well enough said.
It also doesn’t mean you can’t critique aspects of the club. I have no doubt there will come a time when I critique the actions of AFC’s CEO and coach. So far however they have made a preety good fist of things - so why criticise? Ali Williams is the type of person I usually loathe- but so far as a part owner he has done a preety good job, so I haven’t yet had reason to criticise him.
The day however they start doing dumb things like charter schools, I will call them on it. The day they blame imports that they hired for the previous woeful season, I will call them on it. The day they take the last game of the season outside of Auckland, yes, I will call them on it.
Maybe the problem here, is you don’t call them on anything?
Have you thought of that?

This is the thing I have and do call out Welnix and various Nix coaches for the things I'm not happy about or perceive to be "dumb" - big thing for me is that there is clear and undeniable support for the club and team. Support as in I want the team to do well even if I disagree with something tactically or selection wise or even something that's the management are doing. I've even gone as far as to email the CEO about shark that I wasnt happy with. Yes I posted it here too - along with the response. The difference I see is that a majority of the content you are positing is negative, directly trying to cause angst or taking issue with everything - there are no positives unless its AFC related. I'm all for you supporting both clubs, if that's your bag - I couldn't do it and wont, but then I dont live in Auckland and have had a team to follow for 18 years.
In my case AP i get all that and dont have any issue with it. Where i do have issues is when you continually have a crack at the club and those running it for things that they really dont have control over. Just because you may not like something dosnt mean the club or the decision they made at the time was wrong. You seem to be under the misconception your the only one calling the club out on things.
Fair enough but just chill and look at things logically moving forward Professor.
If you are worried about negativity you may wish to go and view the last match thread to see mine.
Both the Nix and Auckland’s.
Preety tame and fair compared to others, I suspect.
At Ballane - fair enough but the examples I gave above (charter schools, blaming imports, last game of the season going away) the club has direct control over and has done.
And if they didn’t have control over the last game of the season going elsewhere, they should have said so and explained why to fans like LG.
AP, I assume you are referring to the Christchurch game?
as a side note. This is the second year where we have TWO clubs in the A League. Brilliant for Local & International Football players. A bigger opportunity to play regular and make a career out of it. Yellow & Black for me everyday but love having a Derby game against a real local team. Results aside, we have "our" game!!

You'll be pleased to know my daughter is Phoenix Till I Die, and if we make it to the derby (doubtful given I'm playing cricket) she wants to sit in the away section.

Why are we playing them again already exactly? What executive sat down and said "Yeah two games in less than a month is a great idea!" ?? At least put another two rounds in between
That "underarm ball drop" from Woud looks like truly an "autopilot" mode when heightened awareness is expected from a goalkeeper due to conditions. But Oluwayemi also had his moments in his first season too, and I am valiantly trying not to remember them when I wake up at 3am some nights.
I watched that and immediately thought he'd done it on purpose to prove that the pitch was unplayable. He'd been complaining for at least 5 minutes beforehand and continued for a while afterwards.
Not sure that he was aware of the possibility that stopping the game at 75ish minutes could have meant the result would stand.+
Moot point of course as the ref right let the match finish.
