Big game tonight in Adelaide. Its sold out, will be quite an atmosphere.

Auckland are underdogs for this, but I'd love to see them get a win, and then we have 2 NZ teams in grand finals

It’s going to be a hard ask.

Adelaide on an eleven game unbeaten streak and playing at their fortress.

Auckland with injuries biting each week haven’t won a game without penalties for two whole months (since Newcastle away) which is quite a stat.

However, if they can pinch it tonight, I think the toughest part is done mentally and they will go all the way beating Sydney at home or the Box Office Jets away.

This will be tight for the first hour or so but when AFC get tired and have to go to their depleted bench then they could be in trouble. No Gallegos, Bremner, May and a half fit de Vries etc. Adelaide will come at them hard in the last 20 mins.

God Randall has been absolutely awful for the last two months or so. Trying far, far too hard to work magic and it just never comes off

He's done what Eze could have done. signed a pre-contract and done nothing else since.

As this game has gone, 1-0 is probably a fair result so far.

As a nix fan who would like any NZ team to win trophies if it's not us (because its good for NZF), this year I do not.

Well controlled half from AFC. Key to the game will be the last 20 mins which is when Adelaide win lots of their games. AFC have no experianced midfield subs. LOL  Pjinaker commits about 5 holding fouls and no yellow card.
Adelaide are really crap at defending. AFC would fancy their chances of another goal

Yep, crucial that AFC can get the two goal buffer as they will concede.

Be interesting to see how many minutes De Vries will get.

GG lads, AFC aren't losing next week too (especially if it's at home).

When AFC click they will win anything, they are miles ahead of any team IMO.

Reds have been very disappointing. Not really sure what their game plan has been.

This is the Coopers experience! Just usually it’s Adelaide handing it out.

Happy for Rogerson. He must have thought both him and Max Mata might be making this WC squad a year ago. Taken a while for AFC to get their form back.

Adelaide have just been humbled.

Id say it's hard to say how good they are based on a poor Adelaide performance tonight. When both teams played wellast week, they drew.

Nah I honestly think if they had Crocombe or Paulsen in goal, they would have walked the league.

I mean yeh, but I’m saying it’s a worry neither of our LBs have played 90 minutes in months. An injury prone-ish Payne and Elliot can’t play both sides, especially if he isn’t up against A league attackers and won’t have Hiroki Sakai anywhere nearby.

I guess it might be Old/Elliot.

Cudos to Howieson, he has really stepped up the last few games. In this game his left foot passing was perfection.

This result is the worst for the Nix as a whole, because if the women win tomorrow and AFC win next weekend (which I think they will). Nobody will care about the women.

A masterclass of power football. Away on a Friday night against Adelaide is one of the toughest gigs in the AL but AFC just blew them away.
AL refereeing suits AFCs style, you can get away with anything.
Ditto the de Vries comment. He runs around like my grandad. Bit of a worry for the WC in that de Vries and Libby are far from fully match fit and Payne has an injury laden season. Thats three of our four wide defenders under a cloud. The team will be in the USA in two weeks and the Haiti match is in two and a half weeks.

Massive sour grapes.

Auckland have proved they are a good team.

Three for me, and two for them.

Okay.
I mean what you are doing now is concern trolling.

If you care about the women, support them. If you don’t, don’t.

Don’t worry about what James A. Public is doing in some melodrama. Fans will support their teams and interested casuals will watch.

Seems likely Welly will support their team more and Auckland their team probably.

Already both are great achievements and if they go further those achievements will shine separately.

Great to have two grand finals and two teams playing great footy. Nunn, Woods and Vlok will still have had a great season irrespective! Jale and Barry too. And anyone who’s watched them at their best isn’t forgetting them, don’t worry!

And if you are trolling, great but, please stop…

If you aren’t, get a steak sandwich with some beer battered fries and then think it out again…or you know peanut butter toast, whatever protein is easiest…

Samba was Samba for us irrespective of Randall and Rogerson icing the cake tonight or not. Both were quite cool, for an NZ football fan imo.

Agree. Im not an AFC supporter in the slightest. But for all us NZ football supporters who have been the butt of jokes and lived in the shadow of eggball for ever this is our time.
Having two kiwi teams in AL finals is something i never dreamed of and im loving it.
Dont knock someone elses success, use it to inspire you. If the Nix men sort themselves out they too could be doing what our marvelous womens team are doing.
NZ football is on a roll. We will be on the front page for the next two weeks and the momentum will flow into the WC

Sorry not meaning to troll, i'm trying to state that while I hope both teams win their GF's (good for NZ Football), I just hope that the AFC men winning will not overshadow the Nix women winning.

I'd say different. A lot of people wrote AFC off for this week, but I knew that their away form has been better than their home form this season (only just scraped home over Citeh). So I'd actually be tempted to put money on Sydney in that scenario lol.

Aussies on Reddit absolutely spewing at AFC rough play. And fair enough, Verstraete's rugby tackle was hilarious; but the refs let that sharkhousery go against Auckland as well (Pijnaker was rugby-tackled for Citeh's goal). But anyway the Aussies now hate AFC as much as this forum do.

Yep, I don't think there was anything particularly remarkable about the ref last night. Just your standard level of A-league level nonsense and honestly Adelaide couldn't hack it.

Ugh! Earlier this morning. Short version. 🫣🫣
Me: grumble grumble A******* beat Adelaide.
SO*: Who will they play in the final?
Me: Either Newcastle or Sydney.
SO: Come on Auckland.
Me: WTF.
SO:  Better them than a team from NSW.

*Significant Other is from Victoria....

Won’t for me. And if it doesn’t for you and yours, there’s a bunch of people it doesn’t for starters. 🙂

Used to be the rugby media we’d worry about, talking about an All Blacks holiday plans instead of the Nix penalty shoot out. If we’re worried about another football grand final taking focus from our football grand final then it feels like we’ve made some progress tbh!

It’s been how City, Sydney and Adelaide have always played. Or for a long while.

The yellow for Sakai was unusual. Pijnaker though must have a dossier of dirty photos or something!

Not having seen any of the match, what was unusual about it? 🤔
