That preety much looks like the squad with the exception of an import centre back and maybe a new third choice keeper.

Actually this Niche Cache article from months ago says yes 18 yr old Ferguson is half Kiwi.

Should help the NZU20s improve with some young 18-19 yr olds now at NZ's 2nd ALM club on pro deals.

Last year's NZU20s were very Nix dominant, as AFC's young development pathway still very early days, and their senior ALM squad giving few opportunities for younger players. That's gonna change going forward, and broaden the base of U20 youngsters on pro deals to pick from..

Hence why Bailey Ferguson’s promotion is so interesting because he’s never played Reserves, he was signed straight to the OPL squad... though at 18 years old (born and raised in Australia but with a kiwi father making him eligible for both internationally) he probably gets away with that for being a youth player.

Think another out-and-out striker is definitely needed. If two up top is ever required, even if the team’s shifting away from that system, a quick, smaller forward to play off the shoulder alongside a deeper target-man Cosgrove would be a necessity. Bidois isn’t that

Alex Greive? Had knee surgery a few months ago, and supposedly would play again for San Antonio this season.

Definitely my favourite player at AFC.

Hard as nails and dominant in the midfield but always classy in his actions. Never shirked a tackle but didn’t make a performance when he was fouled.

Deserves to play at a higher league than the A league and hope he either gets a contract in the top division in Belgium/Netherlands or alternatively the J league.

Hopefully towards the end of his career he comes back to Auckland.

Sign him as Rufer's replacement if he leaves. Rufs would of been on good money, so the NIX would have decent coin to throw at him, one would imagine.

Big loss for the league, and in fairness, I would hope he picks up a big gig elsewhere. Recently married too, so maybe a trip closer to home might be on the cards if they want to make a start on a family?!

Ok so according to the club announcement he must have been under contract for this season as they received a transfer fee. You would imagine that fee may have been reasonable considering his last couple of seasons. Believe that will be the first ever such fee received by AFC? They definitely keep those contract extensions under wraps as everyone thought he was off contract!!

The central midfielder has departed Auckland FC to return to Belgium for personal and family reasons. The club received an undisclosed transfer fee as part of the move, and thanks Louis for his outstanding contribution during his time with Auckland FC. The club wishes him and his family every success and happiness as they begin this next chapter.

Been in the A league before and previous assistant for Australia.

Cartwright is an 18-year-old right winger who I think has been at Melbourne City FC.

Leuluai an interesting guy to pop up in Auckland. He could be a useful defensive utility squaddie given Hall, JGR, Verstraete and maybe Pijnaker are all out the door.

Hopefully Sail can find a starters gig elsewhere. Be a bit of a waste of NZ's GK stocks, now to have both him & Woud at Auckland.

Woud proved at the end of last season he is good enough to regularly start in the ALM.

Though maybe Sail is still rehabbing that bad knee injury he got in Perth.
