But wouldn't you want us to be the first team to win the new one?

I wanted to see what the general opinions were on whether there should be transfer fees in the A-league? My opinion is that there should be but that is just mine. Let me know what everyone here thinks.

Yep, the big teams pay the small teams. The big teams end up with the players they want usually anyway as a team isn't going to force a player to stay with them if they don't want to.

Introducing transfer fees will probably reduce the chances for players in the NPL tho. Currently A-League clubs can sign players from there for a nominal fee but if you introduce transfer fees between A-League clubs, surely you should introduce fees between NPL and A-League. Would we have taken a chance on Litfin, Lowry and Tratt if we had to pay a transfer fee for them?

Surely the semi pro clubs would let a player go pro for the good of their career.

Sydney and Melbourne "semi pro" NPL clubs pay their top players equivalent level to A league squaddie salaries.

So the big gamble "cash in" by the greedy bastards at the FFA hasn't materialized.  PMSL

Considering Melbourne City can get around the transfer fee thing anyway, removing the ban would actually level the playing field a bit more

AIS closing. Kids to develop in club environments. Creates bye in NYL, which will probably also fold I suspect as HAL youth teams now playing in state NPL 1 or 2 leagues.

Just one of the quirks of the 3-2-1 voting system.

no defender or GK or even a DM in the top eight.

I rate Pet Rat's free kick the best of the 12 up for voting. Would have accepted Brandan's but Cahill's was hit & hope, he even admitted it at the time.

1. Tim Cahill - Round 2 v MVC

2. Connor Pain – Round 4 v ADL

3. Joshua Brillante – Round 7 v BRI

4. Fernando Brandan – Round 10 v SYD

5. Vince Lia – Round 10 v CCM

6. Ivan Franjic – Round 14 v WSW

7. Dimitri Petratos – Round 15 v MVC

8. Tom Doyle – Round 17 v ADL

9. Kosta Barbarouses – Round 20 v MCY

10. Nick Fitzgerald – Round 21 v SYD

11. Marco Rojas – Round 21 v ADL

12. Jamie Maclaren – Round 24 v MVC

A-League clubs should soon be able to start budgeting for next season, with Football Federation Australia to finally provide annual grants from the broadcast deal.

A high-profile meeting between club owners and FFA will take place at 11am on Tuesday when the governing body is set to provide its biggest indication yet on what the clubs should receive from the new broadcast deal.

It was still one of the better goals. I do like our team goal against Brisbane and Vinnie's is great, one touch to bring it under control and 2nd touch corner of the net - quite of few of those goals listed are not clean, lucky breaks creating the shooting chance.

Give me a well worked team passing move resulting in a goal rather than an audacious hit and hope anytime.

Even given the at times stupid 3-2-1 voting how the shark did Kosta finish so high up that says as much about the voting system and those doing the voting. No way in hell should he have finished that high up.

The FFA's response is that the clubs aren't factoring in the cost of running the league, including match officials and so on. I'mpretty sure the FFA isn't spending $20m+ a year on that though.

Not entirely unexpected but do FFA even have a strategy to move towards FIFA/AFC requirements, let alone addressing grassroots groundswell?

FFA made their bed and now they have to lie in it, only reason they made that money was selling the A-League product and the clubs are the ones they expect to keep losing money each year. Only fair that they get their fair share too! Hope the clubs take them to task, between this and hopefully FIFA reform we could see a different FFA.

It is funny that average Aussie yob supporters have this idea that the Nix are somehow a cost for Australian football when in fact WelNix are subsidising Australian age group sides and football development programmes.
