FFA fails to attract bids from big three free-to-air networks for broadcast rights - ABC in contention #sportsbiz https://t.co/jMBbO7zlcG

If ABC2's coverage of the Liverpool game tonight is anything to go by, the FFA may as well not sell the FTA rights to anyone. This is an example of what they did:

This guy and the otger two have copped a real serving via twitter and face book. None of it was nice, some of it was racially offensive, most of it was about how he had absolutely no idea of what he was talking about..... and they were right. He was a muppet from what I have seen on you tube.

Yeah, the reaction by football people on social media was rather vile.

It came out the other day that ABC doesn't have a sport department anymore, so they gave the task of the coverage to the comedy divison.

That came from a WA journo, seems the news got to WA a bit early for once. He now thinks Wednesday or Friday.

A-League clubs are set to enter the new financial year not knowing the size of their grant for next season after rejecting Football Federation Australia's latest funding offer.

The rift between club chairmen and the FFA deepened on Tuesday when several clubs rejected the governing body's latest proposal, some labelling it "a slap in the face".

Nope, guessing the Glory are looking at him for their NYL team.

Just out of interest, did anyone see that Miami FC are suing the MLS for not have a relegation and promotion system under competition law (ie monopoly maintenance). Apparently all this promotion stuff is in the FIFA charters.....

What would happen if South melbourne et al got together and had a go at the FFA for exactly the same restrictions - could be a good way to finally get the league out of their hands.

Not sure that a promotion/relegation A-league would be a good deal for us...

The NZ and Australian market just can't support Promotion / Relegation financially. It can barely support a professional top tier.

The results in the FFA cup are not really representative to how close the state leagues are to the A-League, you have teams in the peak of their seasons playing teams with half a squad who are just coming out of a very lengthy off season.

Changes to Fox line-up for A-League commentary this season:

Mark Rudan has been axed, Mike Cockerill is deceased of course, and Slater and Bosnich retained but with a pay cut:

http://www.goal.com/en-au/news/the-covert-agent-fo...

I enjoyed Rudan's thoughtful tactical analysis of games, so I'll miss him.

I'd rather he stayed and Slater and Bosnich went.

Simon Hill is quite good though.

I've only just realised that Mike Cockerill passed away. Jeepers, that is a loss to the sport, regardless of what he might have said about the Nix from time to time.

Interesting, they have a player who is out injured near the top, don't rate our imports at all and have Barbarouses as being back in form with Victory.... Don't think they have much clue

I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

Well, as we know from Westpac stadiums age and their requirements change. Westpac isn't 20 years old yet either and I think we'd all love for it to be demolished and rebuilt with something of a different shape and smaller capacity.
