When was the Jets offer though?

They were in pretty bad turmoil under Tinkler and even this year they had budget cuts because their new owner is in financial strife.

Wellington is a more stable offering than the Jets.

He fully expects us to throw shark at him, I think it would be awesome if we do the opposite and send him off in style and class.

Love the enthusiasm I dont think its ever to late for a banner, the key is commitment to doing it, I say go for it and create a banner he would probably really appreciate it.

If you are talking Tifo I'm sure the elite would love to let you do it, fair warning you probably need a school hall, 4-5 people and a couple of hours to do it just hit up one of the moderators who can put you in contact with someone I am sure.

I was kinda hoping the YF banner making crew would pick this up.....I'm ok with the ideas, but banner making is not in my skill set

Can you write? Banner making 101: Old sheet + can of spray paint. Easy. :-)

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

And I think the big pullover banner is just attaching letters to a yellow sheet.

If anyone watches that and still thinks it's just a front and he's taking our best players with him to WU, they're an idiot.

Hang on. At which point does he actually deny that he's going to WU and so - by a staggering coincidence - are our best players?

he is asked directly if he has signed anything for next year - he says he has not, in fact he may yet take an entire year off. He says he has told his agent that nothing happens in regards to next year until this season is done.

... so those journos who are all saying he's at WU next year along with 6 of our best players are just lying?

I would be absolutely shocked if he didn't end up at WU.

Kurto, Williams, Burgess and perhaps Krishna too.

What six players?

And it's pretty clear from the press conference that he is going to WU IMO. He says he hasn't signed anything but he's a professional coach and he's letting his agent deal with it. He also defends how Melbourne will be better for his kids than Wellington (family friends and support network, same education curriculum, same football system, etc.).

But, the only player that I've seen that's been linked strongly with WU is Kurto. Others that are rumored include Williams and Burgess who are here because of Rudan. Krishna's agent said Rudan doesn't come into their negotiations at all.

Out of our starting 11 Singh, Fenton, Cacace, Taylor, and Rufer are signed. You'd guess that Dura is either staying on or retiring. Kopa has said he'd like to stay in Wellington.

If he's taking six of our best players then that means he's signed Burgess, Williams, Kopa, Krishna, Mandi, and maybe Golec or Lowry or Sheridan. From a team that he's stated he's working to help and to a team which he's stated that he hasn't even signed up for. I'm pretty doubtful of that.

until he signs and WU announce he isnt going there. Why cant we just let it go, all Rudan wants to do now is focus on the finals and getting us a home one. Lets ignore the speculation and until announcements are made hes ours until the end of the season.

or making assumptions, take the man at his word, if he hasnt signed he hasnt signed, and he said he's talked to the players and advised they stay and continue to build the legacy. If he and they do eventually sign for WU, then we can call him out for lying.

Even if Rudan doesn't gut our team for Hypothetical FC, there's a chance all the gossip has disrupted the team and splintered them off to a million different other A-league teams, rather than one new one. The proof is in the pudding

I haven't seen the interview but he appears within 40 minutes to have turned a lot of people

What I will say he has always had the gift of the gab. Not a bad thing to have as a football coach/manager

That's why he was on tv folks

The proof will be:

1: If he is announced as the coach in Melbourne

2: If that occurs if his  family don't move with him to that town.

3: If he signs half of our starting 11and rapes and pillages our team

If the above occurs I call him a bull sharkter

Agreed that the family thing may have been something he was deluding himself about- he's a persuasive bloke at the best of times. The interview came across a bit like him getting closure on us too. He bought in, but had two mutually exclusive things and this was him coming to terms with letting go of the Nix.

No point signing a player who wants to be elsewhere- but the Rudan project shows the benefit of a pre-season and a coach who doesn't accept players he doesn't want and vice versa.

Given the uncertainty about our future frankly i wouldn't blame any player who hasn't signed with us for looking elsewhere. If they havnt been able to agree terms with Welnix nit sure how you can expect them to stay

A contract for next year is a contract. I'd say Mark is a strong voice in our corner and I can't see us getting cut. That said I can't see us competing if the salary cap is lifted.

Even if he has a job lined up for next season in Aussie I dont care, I understand the family angle and fully believe him that its been difficult. Anyone with kids etc should understand this.

I don't have kids and understand where Rudan is coming from. Not sure why having kids seems to be a prerequisite for having some empathy and compassion in Rudan's situation.

One of the questions they should have asked considered: “Are you and your family OK to live in another country?”

And if you saw the conference, up until after they left for home in January to head back to Sydney for school, Rudan still thought he could convince the family to move here.

Mark Rudan: Phoenix Head (-ing home) Coach.

Would he make a good International coach one day? Perhaps coach NZ since he knows the kiwi players here pretty well.

At the rate we play International matches, he'd definitely be able to spend a lot more time with the family!
